A favorite lunch spot. The food is good. The service is fast and attentive. Always enough time to eat lunch and get back to work.

Long time Houston favorite for Tex-Mex. Great green and red sauce and fresh, crisp, thin chips. Don’t let the vintage look scare you. Cheese enchiladas and green sauce very good.

Get a Michelada, order the KATIE’S T-SIP DIP, and watch some sports in the bar or have a nice casual dinner in the main dining room, or book a special event in the banquet room. This place does it all. Food is good, reasonable prices, and servers are on point.

I have been eating at Los Tios for years, after spending the last eighteen years in Ohio, decided it was time. I did not find the food as good as I had remembered. I was there at lunch, and could not get a regular menu only the lunch menu. The waitress had to ask the kitchen if they could make the nachos. Really? The lunch menu has about 7, items…(I will have to go back and check) but I was put off somewhat when I couldn’t get the regular menu. The service was great and the prices are fair for what you are getting.

After Los Tios was sold to Skeeters group, the quality of the food dropped off and became nearly inedible. As it is our restaurant of choice for Tex Mex, we were very disappointed and quit eating there. We recently decided to try Los Tios again and much to our delight, the food had returned to its’ former quality. Keep up the good work!

This was my first time trying this place. I made an order online because they offer a discount that way. I ordered an enchilada plate for myself and a taco plate for my husband. They said the good would be ready in 15 min, but when I got there I had to wait an additional 10 min. The staff was very friendly and showed my food before packing it to make sure it was correct. I felt terrible because the taco«plate» is literally ONE taco. Needless to say, my husband went out for more food. I was pleased with the amount of food I received, but the quality was not there. It’s a little like Taco Cabana which is not what I was expecting. It was decent

I don’t remember why I didn’t want to go back here, glad I just went for it yesterday. Green Salsa good… Red Salsa good… Crunchy Tacos good. I believe they fry their own Taco shell b/c they were not uniform and shapped strange. Very hard to bite without the whole thing falling apart. I also think everything on the lunch menu was a dollar too expensive but its on Westheimer, guess they have to pay the bills some way.

I like Los Tios. We were there the other night and the food, margs service were all good. I don’t really get all the negative reviews. Cheese enchiladas and tacos are great, so are both salsas. The place is dated and definitely not a trendy place of the day but I still like it. Try the golden taco dinner, yum.

This place is terrible!!! Come on, this is HOUSTON the TEXMEX capital of the world! You can do better than this. Save your self ½ the price and just go to Taco Cabana and the same exact(maybe even better) food. Seriously guys, this place is a notch above Taco Bell. We went there because everyone else was packed Friday night, and this place had no wait(the first bad sign). The waitress was terrible, the manager was a buffoon and spent all of his time bossing people around like a nervous Nellie, too bad he couldn’t lift a finger to help out. Now about the food — everything was simply below average. My kids even hated the lemonaide! And they love everything. HOW can you screw up Lemmonaide? I ordered a beer, it was flat. The cheese enchiladas were decent, the chips and green sauce were were good, but the regular hot sauce was also terrible! I ordered the #2: The guacamole came out on a gigantic bed of lettuce, I think they were trying to make you think that there was more food than there actually was. The one enchilada was so TINEY, and the taco was just bland meat on a huge fried tortilla. The kids meals came out on this deceivingly large plate, but they were just beans and rice pasted across most of the plate with a small cheese enchilada. The beans and rice even were bland! The ambiance: it sucks. This place has not changed since 1975, and I think the only people eating there are the same people that have been coming here SINCE1975. Skip this place — try Molinas, El Patio, El Tiempo, Pappacitos, or Escalantes.

If I was taking someone from the north to a Mexican restaurant for the first time in their life, I would take them to Los Tios. The menu isn’t intimidating but that’s another way of saying it’s very bland. When I say bland, they don’t have any signature plates or drinks to make me say, «I’m craving Los Tios to get some of their ________.» You can literally go to a taqueria down the street if you’re craving authentic Mexican or tex-mex– for half the price, & it will taste better too. Maybe it’s just me being a Mexican food/tex-mex buff, but it’s comparable to fast food without the fast part. I can itemize my disappointments, but let’s just save everyone’s time. If you’re feeling down for some tex-mex, go elsewhere. Westheimer prices, but the food doesn’t come close to paying that much when competitors next door have signature plates, a desirable atmosphere, & engaging service. Wasn’t a 1-star because I enjoyed my mango margarita.

I’ve been going to Los Tios Restaurant since I was 14yrs old. I moved to California & hated leaving my home, family, & this place, for a Military life. Well, God is good! Luckily a GREAT friend of mine, went to Houston for a business trip last week. I not only Begged him to bring me my favorite of all time the(Cheese Gueso w/meat inside and melted cheese on everything. He said, «And how the hell am I supposed to do that & bring through Security at the Airport??.» I said, «Have the waiters place everything in strong containers & wrap tightly. Also have the receipt so the Security officers will know your telling the truth». OMG!– I received it today & I am in Mexican Food Heaven! Trust me, its worth every penny & the overnite flight from Texas to California. ;)

Decent service, bland old tired text-mex with poor quality ingredients. Old rundown building with major fly issue and management that runs it on cruise control. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere.

Though their portions are pretty large, for a local chain I’m not impressed with their food. They do however have amazing Tres Leches cake which makes up for the subpar meal.

There was hardly anyone in there and yet the service was super slow. The food was seriously not good. I felt like I was eating at one of the«before» places on «Kitchen Nightmares».

Horrible service and the food was way too greasy. Even worse the manager Dan was completely disrespectful and did not make my family and me feel welcome. We told him the food was greasy and wanted a different plate and he told us he didn’t see any when he checked the plate. Uhh no Dan regardless what you saw or didn’t see, the customer is always right. Won’t be going back ever!!!

The service it’s sucks plus the food has nothing special and even worse we order the fajita Monterey and the beef taste like soap, the guacamole was old and the salsa verde to sour, and when I was trying to say something to the waiter he didn’t wait until I finish worse place ever

The margarita/beer specials on Friday nights(and I believe the rest of the week) are worth the trip. This where we go to grab a couple drinks and food when we feel like getting something quick. The chili gravy sauce… Not a fan. Will definitely stay away from this in the future. Reminded me of the sauce on chef boyardee raviolis.

I confess to being a regular here and to have sampled almost everything on the menu. I also concede that I remember eating puffy queso as a child AND as a NAtive Houstonian I have weighed in on the Tex Mex debate countless times. That said… I am here almost weekly. Out of habit? Nostalgia? Comfort? It doesn’t matter. The margaritas are strong, the staff is great, the food is consistent and the tradition runs deep.
