is this place reopening? I saw a banner up recently, but wasn’t sure if it’ll be the same management. It used to be $ 6 for a 12″ pizza. There was a nice selection of flavors. Those were the days.

as of 6 weeks or so ago, Live Sports is closed. I stopped by for lunch one day and the doors were padlocked from the outside with a sign on the door saying to call a number during regular business hours if you needed access to the space. Called the number on their website and it was disconnected. talked with some bartenders at Molly’s and GrumBar and heard that they hadnt been paying rent for a while. I found it weird since they had just finished painting and remodeling the main bar area. Oh well, you can travel to Coaches for the same experience with better bartenders.

I don’t know how Live Sports is for sporting events because I have only been there a few times for lunch on Fridays. But Live has the makings of a good sports bar. Greasy finger foods, golden flowing rivers of beer, and projections of the game(no LCDs from what I remember). The service is usually pretty bad on the Fridays(around 1−2pm) when I go and it seems to be a recurring theme for most Unilocalers. You get a good sized portion of oil and fat so don’t order too much. The food is moderately priced and I believe on Fridays there are some deals for $ off food. If it weren’t for this pricing it probably would give Live 2 stars. Parking is obviously street only since this is in downtown Houston.

I’ve been here for lunch a couple times with a coupon. Their food is good, but not worth what they charge for it(example: $ 8 for an 8 inch pizza and $ 8 for a basic chicken wrap). Their draught beer selection leaves something to be desired, but they have a decent bottle selection. I’d go back again, but only with another coupon.

So where do I start??? I heart karaōke… No, that’s a lie. I heart minimum drink buy-ins at an empty«sports» bar No, also untrue I heart a musical interlude between karaōke songs when about 15 patrons slither on stage and do a lazy-looking(however, very well coordinated) new-age version of the electric slide Now that I actually like. But only enough for Live Sports Bar to scratch out a 2-star performance.
