This is definitely not the place for trivia … if you’re coming on Wednesday night and you decide to do trivia be careful not to piss off the quizmasters friends playing or they will accuse you of cheating. The quizmaster is either a child or coward who cannot stand up for himself and caved to the pressure of a bunch of baloney. There are many other great places to go other than Woodrows for trivia. I have to admit though I will miss the bartenders they are two great young women who are friendly and caring but until they get rid of that dishonest quizmaster I just cannot come back.

Only one women’s toilet in the front, and it gets clogged and gross! There’s so many drunk guys here. It’s a cool bar but gets too crowded, so it’s hard to sit down or walk.

Some dude with a turtle racing shirt that works here was ridiculously rude when explaining how the turtle racing works. He bitched at us for saying the word«betting.» Like dude chill… they’re turtles. How are you going to talk to us like we are stupid for not understanding how TURTLERACING works? Cuz that’s a normal thing to know all about. Rude.

They have turtle racing on Thursdays and dodgeball on Sundays! Hello, awesome for an out of towner. I love the open air concept and patio spaces with the skyline backdrop. The female bartenders could deeeeefinitely improve their game — maybe smile or try for five seconds. That aside, once you actually get served, there’s a great younger crowd and I still managed to get really drunk. My friend lives right across the street, so the convenience factor was key as well. I enjoyed myself.

Great selection of beers, attentive service, and fun(during turtle races lol). I usually go to Little Woodrow’s during the turtle race season because they are funny to watch. There are also a bunch of food trucks around, and you can take in the food purchased into the establishment instead of being to stuck to paying for typical bar food. Only downside is the looooong line to the ladies room inside. Yes, i know there is one outside, but the friends and I are always closer to this RR. Anywho, will be back next year when the turtle races are back on lol.

Great spot. Came here to kick off Sunday Funday and watch some football. Spent a good amount of the afternoon. Absolute highlight to the day for me. Great beer selection, lots of cool people and tv’s. Tons of chairs booths and benches. Would definitely return.

Fun on a Sunday! Very dog friendly place. Lots of outdoor seating. Try their $ 3 frozen mimosas! They don’t serve food but there are food trucks right outside, or they let you do delivery.

TURTLERACES&LADIESNIGHTONTHURSDAYS! Came with some coworkers for the turtle races and ended up having a blast!!! The turtle races are exactly what they sound like… Turtle races! There are 10 different turtles you can choose from. Try to grab a spot on the bleachers early since they fill up pretty fast! At around 8pm an announcer will come on the intercom and announce when to go to the bar to grab your ticket number. There’s a little side story for each turtle you can read before you choose the number you want. Then come back to the arena, and a «turtle babe» will be chosen to lift a bucket releasing the turtles! The first turtle with your number to cross the arena border wins! There are three rounds per race, and three different races throughout the night, so if you don’t win, don’t get discouraged! Keep playing! :) it’s actually not as hyped as it sounds, but still super fun with the right friends and rowdy crowd. And the turtles actually move pretty fast surprisingly… Oh and did I mention they give away tons of free koozies during the races? Try to catch one if you can, but be warned people in the front rows might get hit in the face by one! Don’t forget to grab one of the frozen mimosas! They’re pretty good! And $ 1 off house wines! Gotta love the ladies night specials! Definitely come with a group as there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating!

Turtle Races… I“m not sure why everyone loves this about the bar, but they do. Big crowd to watch turtle wonder around. I didn’t drink so my review isn’t too useful, but it seems like a nice place to hang out with friends for a happy hour with all the outside patio space. On the flip side, if it’s hot outside this place isn’t so great as there isn’t much indoor seating. Parking in the area can be a pain too… unless you are willing to pay.

I’m only giving an okay amount of stars because the bouncers here are the only nice staff I’ve ever talked to at this establishment and have even become friends with. This place is a lot of fun and what not, but would it kill a bartender to learn how to smile? They are so rude and should seriously address that. People don’t like going out and feeling like they are bothering a bartender for their service, I am paying you after all. Maybe the bartenders should be the bouncers and the bouncers should be bartenders, that makes more sense, get that crappy attitude away from behind the bar.

I just moved to Houston and I went for a drink here — it was okay and had a large selection of draft beers. The next night I came back for trivia — once again it was okay. However, the next day I had an extra $ 55 charge on my credit card. I called about this issue and was told that it would probably«fall off» within 3 – 5 business days. The charge did not fall off and I e-mailed the manager saying how ridiculous this was. He told me that my card had been accidentally used to close out another tab. He then said I could come in to be refunded. I went to get my card refunded and had to wait because the manager was too busy talking to someone else. Then he half-heartedly apologized to me, refunded the card and walked away. I felt that I should have been treated better and maybe offered some kind of apology aside from the refund. Overall, terrible first experience of this bar and I would not recommend it. However, I may return only for the drink specials — and next time I will pay in cash.

This bar has had its ups and downs with the crowds over the years. For awhile it was just a place the guys went to drink beer and maybe catch some game or an MMA night. The past few years it has been on a tear! Turtle races on Thursday night are a must see. Get there early if you want a good seat. Make sure you do your research on your turtle so you can be sure to win the free drink or koozie. Wednesday night is steak night(they smelled great, but looked like okay cuts of meat) and trivia night. It is the Geeks who Drink who do the trivia. It was fun, but I prefer the Flying Saucer’s trivia(the Flying Saucer one requires more strategy. There are tons of TV’s to watch the game, great selection of beers on tap or in a bottle/can. They get crowded on Thursday through Saturday, so if you are drinking beer in the bottle/can consider getting a bucket so you don’t have to fight the crowds. The staff is pretty solid. My favorite bartender who has been there for years is Mandy. If she is working, go through her since she is super attentive, sweet, and gets your drinks to you quickly. Don’t forget to do the Big 50. Drink 50 of their pre-selected beers(only get to do two or three a night, I forgot since it has been awhile) and you get a permanent discount, your name on a wooden plaque on the wall, and a t-shirt.

I think that Little Woodrow’s has to be my favorite Midtown bar! With everything that goes on here, how could it not be my favorite bar? When I’m down in Houston for the summers, I definitely come here a couple times a month. I absolutely love coming down on days that they have the turtle races. It is a fantastic time. I totally recommend it to anyone of age. I’ve also been to Little Woodrow’s for Midget Wrestling. That was also a good and fun time. I would totally go back to that event because of the awesome atmosphere. During the summers, turtle races happen every Thursday around 9PM. It is free to go to and watch. Also, there are free bets on the turtles as well. While waiting for the turtles to appear, the guys facilitating the races will throw awesome turtle race koozies at the audience. The different people you can meet is also great. This is just a fun summertime activity that you should participate in with your friends. You won’t be disappointed if you are at Little Woodrow’s. By the way, I really dig the mimosas here!

#OverIt I’ve been here four times all on Thursdays. Turtle Racing is cool ‘n’ all but it’s always crowded and takes 30 minutes to get a drink. That is of course if you make it through the sea of people to the bar. Even then the bartenders are lackadaisical and curt. Parking is $ 10 or you can drive around endlessly searching for a spot that probably doesn’t exist. Classic Midtown. I’d say try it once because it’s a Houston classic but come with low expectations and Über it cause it ain’t worth the risk of being towed. If you’re tall then awesome, I’m 5 foot and I felt like people were on top of me the whole time. I do like the Frozen Moon, however, there are tons of flies at this location and they are attracted to beer. Actually they’re just attracted to annoying us humans in general. Long story short, there are far better places to hang out and actually get a drink from a server rather than a slow robot.

Stopped in with two lady friends on an extremely crowded Friday evening. This two story bar has a really neat view from — well — everywhere! Seems they just removed one side of the building so that you can see the rest of the midtown area. I found it a bit frustrating that each of the bar areas had a different selection on tap. As a first timer, and the only one in the group that hadn’t ordered a drink, I ending up settling. Waiting to get to the bar, being squished between random people, having to yell over the extremely loud dance music, paying downtown prices— all to settle on my beer choice? I am ready to move onto the next stop, but we take our drinks and try to find a standing spot against the balcony railing. To get upstairs, we walked through an area for dancing(or maybe the drunk patrons were only using it that way?), past a spot that seemed designated for standing and ogling strangers until someone buys you a drink, near an area of tables and TVs playing sports, to the end near balcony railing. Trying not to judge too quickly, I agreed to stand here and enjoy the view for a second drink. My group proceeded to shove our way over to the upstairs bar area. Here I found, not the best selection, but something I would enjoy drinking! During on second drink, our group was approached — I guess we were standing too close to the ogling section — but that was not why we were out for the night. We screamed(REALLY loud music) conversation at each other for the second drink and then the three of us made a bee line for the entrance. All in all, I was disappointed that certain friends had recommended this bar.

We love this bar. It’s one of our go to bars when we’re hanging out with friends in the area. They are pet friendly and let dogs roam the patio. This is our dachshunds favorite bar as well! Nice selection of beer with plenty of TVs for games and a chill patio.

Wednesday’s nights are steak nights here at Little Woodrow’s Midtown. I must say I had a pretty good time. A simple steak and baked potato dish is offered for a flat $ 15(on Wednesday nights) but make sure you bring cash! You have your option of how you want it cooked(i.e. well done, medium rare, rare, etc.) and it’s offered until they run out. Nice indoor and outdoor seating area. If you arrive early, you might be lucky to grab a large picnic table inside which can seat about 8 or more of your friends. Outdoor seating patio seating area is nice too which was where they also hold their trivia games. I also saw people play corn hole and other games outside too. Parking can be tricky here. You can either pay for parking in a private lot or you can find street parking(metered or free). I parked on Brazos and McGowen street two blocks down for free, however spots fill up quick after 7:00PM. On my way back I encountered two homeless people nonchalantly asking for money because something about a bus ticket home. It’s a bit uncomfortable being approached by a homeless person late at night on a dark path. If you are a person of small stature, I recommend walking another person to prevent being harassed for money.

There’s good, laid back fun to be had here, assuming you come during good weather. I’d say for about 90 percent of Houston days(and nights) I’m uncomfortably hot here since there’s no true indoor area and the patio is only partially covered from the elements. That also means you’re pretty much SOL if it rains. Drinks are priced well and they do have a full bar, unlike some of their other locations. If you come during a college or NFL game day, Arrive early as you may have to wait to snag one of the coveted booths or lounge chair areas near the TVs. The Thursday evening turtle races are a hit, as are Wednesday evenings for trivia. Don’t forget to bring your favorite pooch along with you.

Turtle racing, amirite? But really, this is a great casual bar. They have a wide selection of drinks, different seating set ups, and it’s perfect if you’re just looking for a chill night with friends. One of the few bars in Houston where I’ve still been able to hear my friends and hold a conversation without screaming in their ears. Nice patio!
