I went to the 2015 Turkish festival. Jones Plaza is smaller than Discovery green. It was a great location to a small festival like Turkish Festival. The festival had one entrance. It was easy to do crowd control. The rest rooms were clean. I didn’t worry about any smell. There were 6 – 8 food vendors. I liked food. The festival lasted till 10pm. I enjoyed dance and music with lights. Regarding the parking, there were tons of parking in downtown. People might use Metro Rail. Overall, it was a great festival. The festival chose a great location.

I love this Houston jewel in the heart of downtown. It is a great place to congregate and can be rented for outdoor performances. When the weather is nice in the Fall and Spring I put this place right up with Miller as one of my faves.

As far as plazas go, this is definitely a plaza that makes other plazas jealous with all of its plazaing. This has been for a long time one of those places you drive(or walk) by and say«Whoa, look at that» especially with the neato fountain that makes a great backdrop for a facebook profile picture as well as an amazingly memorable first(or any) kiss location just like the Waterwall near the Galleria. Back in the heyday of the Angelika(the default Unilocal photo was taken in front of the old Angelika facing Jones Hall) this was a logical place to end up, sit and talk, after a movie date when the valets and everything became annoyed with your PDA at the tables out in front of the Angelika ticket booth. There are lots of concerts and festivals hosted here as well when it is less quiet reflective time with the fountain, as David N. notes below. Definitely a good place to hang out and look shady before a show at the Alley or now, after a movie date at Sundance since it has finally opened.

If you’ve ever been in the theater district you’ve probably walked through this plaza without realizing what is here. During the day, you might find people eating at the tables near the bright blue walls, but at night time and on the evenings depending on the night, this place turns into an event venue. I came here recently on accident before a show and they had a free concert/performance. They have a website that shows all of the listings of their shows.
