I’ve been going to John’s Auto since 2009, & each time he has delivered exceptional service. I was referred to John’s Auto by a friend when I first needed repair work done on my ’97 Camry. I went to Midtown Auto at first and they gave me a laundry list of supposed repairs I needed. I checked with John and gave him their list. Almost 90% of the list was bogus and he told me I only needed one thing repaired. My car ran smoothly afterwards and never had a problem again. Today, I took my wife’s 2012 Civic to check under the hood for any water damage. We were gone during the flooding a few weeks ago, and found the car carpet wet, so I wanted to check the engine and other parts. John checked under the hood and also ran a computer diagnostic test to make sure everything was working. He found everything was okay. I offered to pay for this 10 min inspection but he graciously declined and let me go without any payment. This is the kind of service and honesty I have come to know from John, and I would never go anywhere else while I’m in Houston for auto repair.

My jeep has been having issues and when she has issues I have issues. As a woman mechanic problems give me ANXIETY. Especially since I most mechanics try to treat women like we have no idea about anything going on with a car. So I decided to look to Unilocal and see what you had to say about mechanics. I saw that John’s had great reviews so I said why not try this place out.
I think I have found myself a new mechanic. John was very professional and explained to me what was wrong with my car by demonstrating to me and even provided me with the improper parts that were placed on my jeep by another mechanic. He even waited until I was able to get to his shop before he left because I was definitely stressing that he would leave. He was very kind and professional. That’s all I ask in a mechanic and he delivered. I will definitely return.

I got an oil change at the company. John was very fast and appeared to be honest about pricing. He pleasantly accepted my Unilocal coupon.

I took my car to get the brakes checked and fixed. He was very nice about explaining what needed to be done. He didn’t try selling me things I didn’t need, like most places. He also let me know the progress of the car since I had to wait for it. I would take my car or my husbands truck there to get worked on.

I came here to a get a full synthetic oil change. Now i live near here and i know this part of town is not known for its glamour or its sights. Johns auto shop wasn’t the most attractive looking place inside or out. It was in fact really a hole in the wall and at first i missed it. But once i got in there. Sat on some old, very used looking furniture, and gave him my keys it was fast. I was in and out in 30 minutes. He (John) and his wife (I’m assuming) both spoke very broken english but it got the job done. He gave me an option of using a lesser quality oil for a much cheaper price but i turned him down. Very nice man. Would have given 5 stars except the lack of communication on total pricing for my time.

My family and friends have been customers of John for two decades. He runs an honest business and is one to tell you like it is. If the work isn’t needed at the moment, he’ll tell you the truth and suggest you return at an appropriate time for maintenance. I’ve never felt worried or gotten a bad vibe at any visit to his shop.
Oil change, a/​c repair, brakes, ball bearings, inspections, he is our go-​to guy. I’ve avoided being charged triple at my dealership and saves me the headache of having to deal with a loaner or rental car. Would recommend him to anyone!

I took a leap and tried John via the comments here on Unilocal.Boy was I suprised — the comments are all true! John is a rare find in todays world of auto repair. Honest, AFFORDABLE, and fast. He had my car fixed in under an hour! Firestone wanted $ 200 for the repair, John did it for $ 60! I plan on going back for all of my car’s repairs. John is as friendly and honest s they come!

John’s Auto Shop is definitely a place I would bring my car in for anything. The service is fast and the work is great. John will go to great lengths to figure out the issue and fix it. The guy is super friendly and honest!

This hidden Gem is my go-​to place for all of my automotive repair needs. John (The Owner) never beats around the bush and tells me exactly what needs to be done. Two years ago I brought my car into some other shops and they wanted to charge me $ 1,000 for labor and parts, John’s charged me $ 400 for the exact same service and I’ve been going back ever since. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve been taking my car to John’s Auto and Muffler Shop for over five years now and I can honestly say that there is not a better mechanic around. What makes John such a wonderful mechanic is that he is honest, dependable, extremely reasonable and above all a great mechanic.
Every time that I have had an issue with my car he has gone above and beyond to ensure that the job is done right and at extremely reasonable rates. I’ve never had John recommend any work that was not necessary and the work that is necessary is done quickly and effectively. I cannot recommend his services enough.
