John Andrews Pet Salon

If I was a dog, I would totally want to come here for a pet spa day! This is the 2^nd time my Goldendoodle has come for grooming and a haircut and John Andrews did an awesome job again! This small shop is located on an indiscrete road off W. Alabama near Buffalo Speedway. There is a tiny parking lot out front that is usually empty.
Upon entering the store it’s a bit dim, emitting a calm spa feel. Being October, they were selling Halloween costumes in the store but they also have other pet items for purchase year round like fancy dog collars & leashes, clothes, dog beds, and toys. A bit pricey but good quality (not like the 99 cent toys I buy at Pet Smart that my dogs tear up in 10 minutes).
I made sure to make an appointment for my dog grooming in advance but the other time I came they accommodated me and I was able to make an appointment the day before.
Total grooming time, which included a bath and haircut, took about 5 – 6 hours. John and I set up a time of when I would pick up my dog but he is also open to calling you when the grooming is done as well.
John took the time to listen to what I wanted my dog to look like and was very receptive to my instructions. He did a great job and I’m so happy my dog doesn’t look like a poodle (which is a common goldendoodle grooming problem) and was not shaved down (which has both happened in the past to me at other groomers). My dog came out soft, fluffy, and quite honestly smelling better than I do after my morning showers. My dog got a cute complimentary bandana as well.
The only star I would minus is due to pricing– this salon is a bit over my budget but my dog always comes back looking and smelling wonderful so I really shouldn’t be complaining. Thank you again John Andrews, you did an amazing job!

I was super nervous for Abraham’s first hair cut as many people cut Labradoodles like a poodle versus leaving them with longer hair. John hit Abraham’s first cut spot on and he was absolutely gorgeous! Thanks so much to John and his Team! We will be back! :0)

Very friendly staff, clean office lots of toys and things to look at. I will definitely be back.

There’s a fine line between when your pet looks «cute fluffy» and «omg why is the shag carpet moving?!» We had definitely reached the latter and with plans for a pet sitter coming up, the situation needed to be taken care of asap.
I called John Andrews in the morning and they said they could take her so an extra star for accommodating us last minute! They are conveniently located for me and although the salon is a bit hidden, it’s not hard to find with a gps.
I walked in and stood around looking like an idiot, then went back outside, rang the doorbell, went back in, and voila! — service. The woman was super nice and took the time to listen to the cut I wanted. After calling to confirm she was ready, I went to pick her up at the appointed time and she looked adorable. The cut is great! It’s exactly what I wanted and I didn’t see any cuts or scratches on her.
As the only negative, I was VERY surprised when my total came to $ 86! I had no idea it would be so much! (I guess this is partially my fault for not asking upfront — I just assumed they would be somewhat in-​line with other places.) After looking on their website, it says small dogs $ 60 – 65 so I’m not sure if I was charged a last minute fee or what. Definitely ask how much it’s going to be before you leave your dog!
Based on price, I probably will not bring my dog back, but the fact that they were able to squeeze me in and did such a great job on the cut earns them 4 stars for this particular experience.

One of the hidden secrets of the people in River Oaks, John Andrews is the best place to have your dog looking perfect. They do a wonderful job with hair cuts and washing and are experts at what they do. As mentioned before they are a bit expensive but are very worth the money.

I have been bringing my dog here for years. They consistently do a great job. My dog’s fur never looks as clean when I wash him myself.
They also are very caring and are so sweet to my dog.
It is pretty expensive, which is really the only negative thing I have to say about John Andrews. But, honestly, I think it is well worth it for a good bath and grooming from kind people.
