I stopped in one weekend looking for some trees for my new back yard. I do not have much experience buying trees, so I found someone to help me determine what I needed. I wanted fruit trees so the guy I worked with(wish I could remember his name) gave me great advice. He helped me determine which trees were self-pollinating and which ones needed a «mate.» He also directed me to some products to fertilize them, plant them and keep them bug free. I was impressed with his level of dedication in helping me. He was knowledgeable and helpful. The prices and selection were also excellent. I will return again when I am ready to do more planting!

I have been going to the Katy Freeway location since I moved to Houston 7 years ago. The prices are very good, there are end of season sales, and surprisingly a good selection. You can find some unusual stuff there. You probably need to have some general info on plants before you go since not all the pots will have care tags. I often stand out there with my iPhone researching different plants I’ve never heard of. This place is my favorite. They will also load your car for you. Several times, I went to the other nursery with the umbrella(their coupons always entice me) and every time left saying never again. Too expensive even with the coupon, unhelpful staff, mixed quality.

So the company I work for moved out into this area almost 3 years ago. I always saw signs for 50% and 70% off pots and plants driving by. They’re literally right off the freeway just a little past the 1960 exit going north. They do have a lot(understatement) of pots and plants. I’ve been passing by this place for 3 years and had no inclination on going because I am absolutely clueless when it comes to plants and flowers. With that being said, I decided to go one day. I wanted some kind of greenery for my porch. So, you pull into this place from the freeway(good luck getting out) and you park in unmarked, unpaved«spaces» on the dirt driveway. I parked right in front of some kind of palm tree that was 70%!! Apparently it was a STEAL at $ 175. What? $ 175 for a plant? I had no idea plants were that expensive. So I was seriously contemplating leaving if this tiny little palm tree was almost $ 200. I was thinking I should’ve researched before coming. Wiki maybe? So I spent almost 2 hours here. I had no clue what I was doing. Are these indoor, outdoor, or shade plants? How many times do you water them? Why is this plant $ 20 more than this other one. They look the same to me. And what in the world is that? It’s purple. I had so many questions. And no one was really around to help if you’re a new plant owner. I guess they just figure you know what you’re doing. I didn’t fault them for that. The plants are pretty cheap. They’ll mark off the 70% or whatever at the register. I ended up getting a plant that you hang and two big ones. I had no idea what I bought. I just went with… does it look nice? And… does it fit in my car? They do have a huge selection of all kinds of plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, and even grass. And remember I said they had a lot of pots for these plants? Yeah. Way too many. I always saw signs for 50% off but these things aren’t that cheap to begin with. I ended up getting one of the medium sized pots regularly marked $ 34 and I paid about $ 17. So I went here about a month ago. How are my plants today? They’re doing fine. They’re still green. I did some research to find out what I needed to do and I’m actually really into plants now. Here are the plants I purchased: 1) Janet Craig; 2) Areca Palm; and 3) Asparagus fern. Yup. That will really pull the room together. And did you know that it’s very feng shui too?
