Being a good girlfriend, I went with my speed racer boyfriend to check out a Nascar qualifying race. I must say, when I am feeling better I might enjoy this a bit more, but I really am not a fan of watching cars chase each other. Now my boyfriend thinks I might like the drag strip better. And I think he’s right! But alas there was no drag racing that night. So I will be back I am sure since my boyfriend is looking to rev up his cams! lol

To fulfill my crave to watch oval track racing live I go to HMP. They are always running ticket deals, add $ 1 beer, $ 1 hotdogs(tastes great too), and $ 1 coke it becomes a great family outing that doesn’t break the bank. There are car classes for every type of fan. The stands are clean and safety is clearly a priority at this track. During intermission they even allow the fans on the track to meet their favorite driver and check out the cars.

2 Fast! 2 Furious! With Fast 5 coming out, it made me want to relive my high school days. What better place than the Houston Motor Sports Park. This track isn’t the ¼ mile that the Baytown Track offers but it’s much closer, and honestly from a watching point of view 1⁄8 of a mile is all the same. I came here on a friday night and it’s like open mic/car for race cars, anyone can race, you run with what your brought. It’s interesting cause you get some stock eclipse, some ugly but fast turbo civics, some trucks, corvettes, just basically everything you could think of. I even saw some bikes racing down the drag strip. What makes this place better is that the drag strip is right next to the oval track so on this night the oval track people were practicing for their race on Saturday so you could just turn around and watch one race and face forward for the other one. Gates open at 7 pm but cars don’t really start showing up until 8 pm and by 8:30 pm races are constantly running. It’s really loud so if you don’t like noise bring some earplugs.
