The Met is a great place for beginners or experienced dancers to drop in and take a variety of dance classes. They offer classes ranging from jazz to ballet to hip hop. Each class is $ 17, an hour long, and the classes are never crowded. I really love coming to the Met’s dance classes because the instructors want to help you improve, but at the same time, know that you are attending classes more for enjoyment. The only drawback is that their parking lot is a little small and they share it with Weights + Measures so it can be a bit of a hassle.

Attended my 1st dance class in Houston here at Met Dance Company & Center(Open Modern on this past Monday 5÷4÷15). The location was easy to find when entered in my GPS. I arrived a little early like their website says because parking was a little bit of a hassle, however it didn’t take TOO long to find a spot. Registration/Payment was easy. There were about 12 people in the class, all on different dancing levels. The instructor Lindsey(hope I spelled it right) was absolutely WONDERFUL! Since it was an «open» modern class she had to lead it with a variety of levels(in my opinion it was mostly taught at an Intermediate level). I have much previous dance experience, just a little rusty because it’s been a while but I enjoyed her class so much I can’t wait to go back! I will be returning to METDANCE! :)

I would go here for ballet, and they have only one advanced ballet class, Tuesday nights, which I can’t make anymore. Not so good if you think of Houston as a great large city. The other ballet classes are intermediate level, which is more like beginner level for New York City. New building, nice space, but like I said, only ONE advanced ballet classes per week.

New location building is dark and entrance is hard to find at night. Took a jazz class and the instructor was not the most directive but I had fun. Drop in classes are $ 15. There’s only 4 studio rooms and theyre always all full. There are jazz classes, tap, barre, and hip hop. The met is a long standing dance studio offering classes to Houstonians for as long as I can remember. I think I took a single class in college at their old studio back in 2006. So I’d say they have some good credibility.
