Houston Center actually consists of 6 buildings and a food court. There used to be a Post Office in 2 Houston Center yet it appears to have closed. Used to use it all of the time. The sad fact of the food court is that it’s just all boring chain food. Why waste your time coming here to eat mediocre food. Downtown has much better local indies that have been around for decades, within walking distance. The food here is for the lazy and or whom do not care what they eat.

This is my ‘escape’ from the office. There is a very ample food court, post office, number of little shops and great place for people watching during lunch hours. I am a sucker for fix. The other good thing is that it is a place that you rare see people begging for me — like basically every street corner in downtown Houston. It is also connected to several buildings, which can create an indoor walking track for those trying to keep in shape and don’t want to navigate the streets.

This is the address to Two Houston Center. Building is getting old, and you can tell by all the«modernization» to the building’s escalators and elevators.

I walk about 10 – 15 minutes to get to the Shops at Houston Center. To us, it’s like a mecca of food. Chick fil a, Potbelly’s, Au Bön Pain, Great American Cookies(they always have samples, yay!), and especially Doozo Dumplings. Mediterranean food, Ninfa’s, Great American Cookie, Simon’s Homestyle Café… the options seem endless compared to our measly corner of the Downtown Tunnels. At least two Starbucks are sprinkled in between all of it. If you don’t want to feel lonely, come here between 11am and 3pm. Great people-watching. It’s always bustling, almost crowded. You’re bound to run into someone you know. Sometimes at Potbelly’s they have someone singing and playing cover songs on the guitar. Like Jack Johnson’s Banana Pancakes. There are lots of chairs, couches, and even shoe shiners. You can get your nails done, your grocery shopping done, your hair done, your workout done, I could go on and on. Unfortunately, the bookstores are closing down, but I loved going to browse books during lunch time. If you go there now, you can find something for 50−70% off ;) They have a Chase bank, so that’s pretty convenient for me. Hallmark, GNC, Jos A Bank and other shops are there for the browsing. Several Texas knick knack stores are around too. If you have the time to get a mani pedi, there are places here for that. Right across from the Shops is the Kelsey Seybold clinic– convenient if you want to get some lunch and a doctor’s appointment in. Overall, pretty good selection of shops/restaurants for a break from work. The location is really close to the Houston Pavilions, so you can go catch a game of bowling at Lucky Strike or shop at Forever 21.

This area is a mad house during the work day. There are a good amount of shops and restaurants for the people in the area to enjoy. However, we tried coming to the shops after work hours for a meal before the game and it was a ghost town. One of the only things that was open was Ninfa’s and the service was horrible. Most of the restaurants were chains such as Chick Fil A, Murphy’s Deli, Subway, Starbucks, and Quiznos. Nothing special here your basic food court.

I’ve been in and walked through many of the other towers, sky scrapers, or business centers throughout downtown, but I must admit that Houston Center has got to be the best! 4 towers and The Shops at Houston Center — it’s all good. Don’t get lost now! Parking here will put a dent in your wallet.
