Houston Archery Lessons and Range

James is amazing. While I am no Katniss Everdean, there’s something really powerful about the feel of a six-​foot recurve bow. I love it here… Wish it was closer.

I love taking my group here because everyone leaves happy and eager to return! James and Susan are really easy to work with and very accommodating for groups! We just went last month and I’ll share a feedback I received from one of my members. My group does a 1.5 hour intro class about once every quarter.

Not sure what happened with CB and her son, but I went with my boyfriend to learn archery and had a blast!
We booked a one hour teaching lesson (lessons are the same price for one or two people). We had a really sweet girl for an instructor who taught us the basics quickly, then had us shoot for most of the hour.
She stood by our side and adjusted us both constantly. I feel like we learned a lot in just one hour!
The equipment was very nice. Safety was not an issue at all — they take it seriously and have a system in place so nobody is walking to get their arrows when anyone else is shooting.
If you are concerned about bringing a child to learn, don’t be. There were four in there (7 – 14? Maybe) being taught and watched by instructors. The teachers watched them closely and were very helpful.
You can come for lessons, or just to shoot and rent equipment. Pricing was very reasonable. I will return and have a great new hobby!

Owners and staff are really nice and helpful! I was trying to plan a last minute birthday celebration for a friend and a series of unfortunate events led me to Houston Archery Lessons. Despite the last minute reservation, Susan was very patient and squeezed my friends and I in for a group lesson. Our instructor was fun, enthusiastic, and great at teaching such a large group. My friends and I had lots of fun and we will be back!

Writing this review is not easy, but necessary to let others know what to expect. I took a child of mine to a camp put on by this company. After we picked him up at the end of the first day, he was very happy. He’d had a good day and left the Range in good spirits, high-​fiving the instructors. Later that day, I received an email from the proprietors of the Houston Archery Lessons. (As I came to find out, it is a husband and wife team). In the email, I was informed that my son had been fighting with another child and supposedly doing «trick shots». All of this information apparently came from the parent of the other child and was not observed by any of the staff.
I called the front office to discuss the situation. The first call rang about 20 times before voicemail. I called back and this time the «wife» answered. I could hear a baby crying the background so my call was probably inconvenient. When I explained the situation, we discussed it for a few minutes. The woman told me about what the other parent had said. I asked why the instructors had not picked up the same behavior. There was no response to that. At that point, the woman told me that they have a «100% no questions asked refund policy». I asked if that meant she did not want my son to come back. She replied, «I didn’t say that». After five rounds of that, I asked for my money back and she agreed.
The next day, we received a nasty note from the «husband». It was a threatening, hostile, and deprecating email from him. Without recapping that, his 100% money back guarantee became a 66% money back guarantee.
My experience with this firm has been very unsatisfactory. I’m not sure how a business can be so disrespectful to a customer and still get new business. Anyway, that’s for them to decide. Just beware that this operation is a «mom and pop» shop and does not act with much professionalism.

I have been here a number of times with Our Singles Org. and every time it has been great. They are very patient teachers. very helpful with the newbies and the advanced as well. I would recommend them always. wish I could give them more stars.
