Worst customer service EVER… Cashier talking trash about me in Vietnamese to another worker. Seriously, umm I speak Vietnamese. I am ½ Vietnamese. Cashier giving me a hard time, umm hello, you are in the customer service business.

Their sandwiches are pretty on point; my favorite is the meatball sandwich. They make their meatballs fresh as well as their own butter which is what makes the sandwiches delish! Outside of that, they have a good fresh snack section filled with yummy Asian foods to go. The rest of their store is not a bad source for Asian supplies. There is always a smell to the store, consider yourself forewarned.

Great place to shop. Cheap produce and seafood. Beware though, the place smells like seafood really bad. Not for the faint at heart when it comes to smells. ;)

Such a cool place to shop. My husband loves ramen for his work lunches and they have an entire aisle of ramen! Its a really cool store, everything is soo good. The pastries they sell are pretty good also. I love this place because it’s so close to my home. The meat area of it is great also, they have a great selection.

This is a great place to pick up Asian groceries if you live in the Southeast Houston area. The location is convenient, not too far from I-45 and surrounded by other similar businesses and restaurants. A small setback is that Saturday mornings they used to have fresh cha siu bao delivered but have now discontinued to supply.

This place is freezing inside so wear a sweater or hoodie. It does have a funny smell but that should not steer you away from all of the goodness packed in this store. From fresh fruit and veggies to fresh seafood and meat, all the spices and sides and much much more this is the place to go to. You can even buy scratch offs in this place. CRAZY! Anyhow I have yet to try the meatballs or anything else they cook there but next trip I surely will. I absolutely love this store.

Compared to other Asian markets, this one did not have fresh veggies and fruits. Most of the veggies were rotten. I did find a few good things but overall experience of fresh goods and bakery, very disappointing. If I need something, this place will be my last resort. I would rather go to the Asian market down the road called My Quang Market; even though the outside is unclean at least the inside of the store is kept cleaned with fresh food available.

Went today after I found an Asian Market on the south side of Houston. For those who complain about the smell, all Asian markets smell like a bait shop. Its the dried stuff that is off-putting to the westerners. I loved this place! I could find all the fun ingredients I need to cook all the asian dishes we love without going to Bellaire. Will have to agree with one other reviewer on the staff, so much nicer than the staff at the Bellaire markets. Will go back for sure.

Since Sophia C’s review from 2010, the banh mi prices have jumped up a bit. The combination(3 different types of meat, butter mix, carrots, cucumbers, and jalapenos) is $ 3.50. There are other Vietnamese sandwich options like just vegetable for ~$ 2, but almost everyone goes with the combination! The same service counter also sells fresh roasted duck, quail, and pork. A few steps away are pre-packs of various Vietnamese items like spring rolls, sticky rice, tapioca starch dumplings, vermicelli with meat and veggies, and sweets of all sorts. Be sure to check this area out! Really interesting, and they bring in new batches of items throughout the day :) I’m no Vietnamese food connoisseur, but the food packs taste great and make a quick and cheap lunch! On another note, Hong Kong market has pretty fresh produce and lots of frozen(as well as live) seafood~

When I first walked in it was extremely cold and smelled like fish, but I was used to the smell of fresh fish. They have a wide variety of fresh fruits, and vegetables of all different kinds. People were so friendly and nice. The cashier was nice, and kind she greeted me with a smile and asked how I was doing. I spent two hours talking to a Jamaican lady serving Jamaican food to the customers of the Asian market. After reading the good reviews about the ‘famous yummy’ banh mi I had to try it myself and yes it was very well good. I had got the meatball bahn mi and it was really good. I loved the taste of cilantro in every bite, very crisp and fresh. Great supermarket, I will be coming back for their huge persimmons for my grandma because she loves persimmons, and for their jackfruit. I gave them 3 stars because I haven’t fully experienced the whole store yet. My mum used to take me to this store when I was younger, but I haven’t been since.

Well, i went to get Mochi ice cream and fruit jelly, and well pad thai noodles. I was so amazed at how many different types of noodles they had! The have so much stuff and varieties of asian stuff!(Except mochi ice cream brands) If there is something asian you can’t find anywhere, I’m sure they have it, The reason I didn’t rate higher is because when I was going to check out, I noticed several baby roaches crawling around ONTOP of the scanner! I was totally grossed out! I’ve only bought pre packed things from here and I don’t think I will have enough courage to ever buy anything thats not pre packaged! Yack!

Yes it smells like fish, but the Bahn mi is awesome, and the fresh fresh is usually alive.

So I went into here again yesterday and finally I went to the hot food to get one of those banh mi. It was around 4pm so there was no line. I tried asking the little lady there if I had to pay at the station and she couldn’t understand, so I had to wait until someone came over and told me about these amazing sandwiches. They suggested the meatballs and they were only $ 3 so I got two, and took them home. The smell was so amazing in the car I tried one in the car and had to stop the car to eat it. I got the meatball with all the works. I think the next time I am down in that area I will try the others too.

The best banh mi — get the special it’s only $ 3.00 and it is awesome. The meatball is also wonderful. The supermarket is clean and the staff is much nicer than the one on Bellaire.

The grocery store itself is just like every other Asian grocery store, but the reason why this place gets 5 stars is because of the banh mi shop inside. Ever since I was young, this has always been THEBEST banh mi sandwich place I’ve ever been to. Even the places in Houston Chinatown cannot beat Hong Kong’s version of banh mi. They put so much meat and veggies in each sandwich. Some places add too much soy sauce, but this place puts just enough for flavor. The service is fast. I would know. My family has ordered 14 banh mi sandwiches from this place before because it was just that good, and they made them very quickly. Great price! It use to be cheaper, but it’s still relatively inexpensive. $ 2.50 for a sandwich? YESPLEASE!

Over a decade ago(how’s that for dating myself?!), I was first introduced to the banh mi sandwiches(the ‘special’ is the only way to go) from HK2. Was shopping with the madre and we observed a line of people ordering this wonderous item. We often bought the fresh bread and the sandwich area is adjacent to it. Curiosity was piqued. We HAD to try it. Today, I decided to relive that memory. It was as yummy as I remember. I don’t even like cilantro in general, but banh mi makes me like it. Crave it even. Yes, those are strong feelings I have towards a filling meal. $ 2.50 for a sandwich almost the length of a brown paper bag? Beat that Subway.

This is an unassuming Chinese food market, nestled in a neighborhood I am often in for work. I have recently grown weary of western fast food, I went in to the asian market for hopes of respite. On my way in I noticed people eating Vietnamese sandwiches(Banh Mi), I was saved! I snaked my way around the store, and found the place in the left corner. Ordered a special sandwich for a scant $ 2.50, because everyone in front of me was. Went and picked up a bag of shrimp chips, a soda and was out the door for under $ 5. The sandwich was delicious, although I recommend grabbing a few napkins if you plan on eating on the road, as I ended up wearing a little of the juice. This is definitely the place I will be visiting for lunch when I am out in this area!
