This is our FAVORITE Asian restaurant in the Heights. Excellent service, great prices and outstanding food. We often bring a bottle of wine since they are in a dry area. Low corkage fee. OUTSTANDING. Highly recommend. if you are into ‘fusion’ or ‘fru fru’ food though, this may not be your favorite.

First visit. We haven’t really found a good Chinese/Asian food place in the Houston area that competes with our faves from home(the Dallas area) but this is my favorite so far. Dropped by for a to-go lunch one day and front desk person was super nice and friendly. Tried the pad thai and it was a nice version and the shrimp were flavorful and not the tiny kind you might expect. Enjoyed the egg rolls — they were thinner than a lot of egg rolls but I think that makes them easier to eat. So that’s fine. Shared the won-ton soup with my hubby that night. He proclaimed the cilantro aspect of the soup«genius» and I have to agree. Not really sure why you can get the other soups as part of the lunch special but if you substitute won-ton you have to pay the full price. But I’ll still get won-ton next time, too. Wish they had included the crispy noodles sometimes included with soups.

Visited for the first time today for lunch. Very nice staff, the waitress was very attentive, it was nice and cool inside, and the food was great. We ordered spring rolls and they were served fresh. We had veggie fried rice and the Mongolian trio with shrimp, chicken, and beef. Absolutely delicious and the food was served fresh and hot. Loved it. We will be back!

SOOOO, I was PLANNING to order from Eastern Chinese Restaurant off of W. 34th. It’s supposed to be a «staple» in the area. But then I saw someone post not just one but MULTIPLE and fairly recent(as recent as last week) health violations that the restaurant had. I’m not about that life so I started looking for another place in the area with good reviews and free delivery. Heights Asian Café was one of several that a 4+ star rating — they just happened to be the first one I clicked on. Let just say that the food is BANG. Now, I’m no Americanized Chinese food connoisseur; but, I do like food… like a lot… like a lot lot. So, I figured that I had a fairly discerning palate. BASEDSOUL-LYONREVIEWS(and yes, I meant ‘soul-ly’ because the very core of my soul was filled with angst over trying a place food unseen… or food un-smelled…or whatever), I ordered chicken lo mein off the lunch menu. Since you have to have a $ 15 minimum for delivery(and I am not about that«pick up» life either), I asked a co-worker to order something with me so we could meet the requirement. I also had to check that our office was within a 3 mile radius of the place(and it’s 2.7 miles to be exact thank YOU very much!) Anyway, my co-worker wanted to try the garlic chicken because she doesn’t like the garlic chicken from Eastern Chinese Restaurant. Decidedly she gathered that if the«garlic chicken is good, everything else is good.» As you can see, she is a VERY good judge of character… and food. We ordered. They told me the food would take 30 – 45 minutes — it came in 39 minutes(YES, I counted! Don’t judge me…). As soon as I opened it, it smelled good. Great! We’re already on the right track! Smell is like 37.8% of the whole experience… Or is it 49.26%? WHATEVER the percentage is, it would be enough to initially convince that I had made the right choice. Then(drumroll please), I tasted. And what I tasted was good. Not greasy, not salty, just ol’ fashion g-o-o-d. I would take a picture of my food to show you, but I ate it already… Now, let’s get something clear: this is not like best place EVER! The food is good, but let’s not get carried away here. I liked it — my co-worker liked it — we will order again. And in the end, isn’t that really all that matters? –Peace & Hair Grease

I love Asian cuisine. Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese… cooked, raw, fusion(ok not so much fusion but you get my point). I don’t get the fan-fare with this place. The food is average at best if you don’t have a taste for asian cuisine — they can’t seem to get the spice level right, it has been terribly bland a few times, and I could not tell the diff between the curry chicken and the chili lemon grass chicken(???). The egg rolls(i have ordered all types) are average. The hot and spur soup is too salty. Just writing this review makes me angry for giving them another chance. Maybe my bar is high but there are great restaurants in houston that make Heights Asian Café a second(third) class citizen.

This place is on my street… i eat here about 2 – 3 times a week(yup, i dont know how to cook). I’ve pretty much only eaten the fried rice and the beef phở. Its probably the best PHO i’ve had(IMO) especially in the surrounding areas. The negatives: they are usually busy on deliveries so it can take up to an hour or longer to get your food, … or an hour to get a call to go thru to order food.(hah) They are pricey!!! I ordered just PHO broth and it was almost as much as their regular Beef Phở order… Clean place and attentive staff.

Lunch Special is Fabulously affordable.(Mon-Fri ONLY)!! My tofu Lo Mein was packed with flavor, tender noodles, and good portion for the price I paid. My tofu was slightly over done — too tough but the quality and price made up for it.

Decent food but irritated now. Called in an order of spring rolls and wonton soup. They got that shit ready for packaging and go usually. Told me it would be 15 minutes. I left my house fifteen minutes after this supposed confirmed time. I get there and they’re Togo area is full. I was told it wasn’t ready yet. Sitting there for 50 minutes and watching a couple orders that were placed in person, after I had been waiting there, be sent on their merry way, mine was ready with a brisk«Julianna!» And a literal slam of my order on the counter. Dafuck?! Just had to rant that out and will not be ordering from them again due to my impatient ass when it’s promised something and had to wait that long without a sorry for the wait. First world problems.

I am new to the Heights and decided to try a Chinese delivery place nearby. Based on reviews this place seemed like a good place to try. When I placed the order on the phone I was pretty surprised when my total was $ 21 just for an entrée, small soup and egg rolls. They don’t do dinner combos here so everything is a la carte. Oh and I had to order the egg rolls since I initially didn’t meet the minimum order for delivery. When I asked if I could get fried rice with the kung pao chicken, I was told it would be an additional $ 5! Really, a $ 5 up charge for fried rice? I continued with the order anyway, which I now regret. The order was delivered in around 45 minutes, which wasn’t too bad. To add insult to injury, the food was terrible. Loaded with msg, the kung pao chicken looked nothing like it should. It was in a light colored sauce, and no spice at all. It didn’t even have the chili peppers it should come with. Soup was slimy and salty. Overpriced and subpar food. Will not be ordering from here again.

I used to love this restaurant but they have recently lost me as a customer for good. My wife and I would order food from them at least twice a month but usually once per week. We would pick our food up and enjoy it at home and everything was great. This evening we ordered food and were told it would be ready in 10 minutes. We arrived 15 minutes later and paid for the food but it wasn’t ready. No big deal. 20 minutes later the food still was not ready. Maybe the kitchen was backed up. I can understand that. The kicker was that other people walked in and placed to go orders at the counter and got their food while we sat there and waited. We asked about our food again and they didn’t know anything about it. I confronted the situation and was told that there were other people waiting ahead of me that is why I saw people served before me. I guess people placing their order in person are given priority. I didn’t appreciate being talked to like I’m and idiot and told that people who ordered after me were actually ahead of me. I confronted the issue further and was told that they had actually lost some tickets. I said I wasn’t paying full price for my order since I had been waiting for so long and was given the run around. I was told I had to speak to someone else about that. The lady I was supposed to speak to said«big deal the food is a little late I’m not talking to him». They offered me 10% off my next order(a whopping $ 4). I told them there would not be a next time and they lost a customer. Never once did any of the employees apologize for the mistake or for losing the order. Never once did the manager seem to care at all. All we got were excuses about the restaurant being busy(there were three tables seated). It isn’t about the money. It isn’t about the fact that it took longer to get the food. It is about the fact that they simply didn’t care about a customer and did nothing to fix the problem when it was brought to their attention early on. It took a full 25 minutes of waiting and asking politely and finally me being very firm and a little gruff with them to get some type of action. Sorry Height’s Asian café. You are not the only Asian food restaurant in Houston or even in the Heights. You can keep your $ 4. I won’t be back.

My initial review for Heights Asian Café was after only getting takeout one time. Since that time I have dined in at Heights Asian Café several times and it now one of my favorite Asian restaurants. The service is consistently friendly and quick. The food is consistently good. The restaurant is consistently cozy and clean. Every time I eat at Heights Asian Café(or get takeout), I sincerely enjoy my meal. I recommend it to friends and family when they’re in the area and they also give it rave reviews.

If you live in the Heights area, Heights Asian Café is a good Chinese/Vietnamese food spot for friendly service and value. I went to Heights Asian Café on a Monday evening with Kristina N. and Wing L. It wasn’t very busy, so there was plenty of seating and parking. After looking through the menu, we decided to get an order of Crab Puffs(4 for $ 4.50) and Pork Dumplings(8 for $ 5.95) as an appetizer. These were both pretty good, no complaints. For the main entrées, we ordered three dishes which included a House Special Fried Rice($ 9.95), Chili Lemon Grass Chicken($ 9.95), and the Tofu Lo Mein($ 8.95). The House Special Fried Rice was tasty, and I really liked the Chili Lemon Grass Chicken as it was spicy and full of fresh jalapeño peppers. The Tofu Lo Mein on the other hand was just meh, not really a fan of this dish. Overall, it was a good, quick meal, and the service was on point. Mary was our server, and she was extremely attentive and made sure our waters were always filled and that we were satisfied. She was also quick to clean off our tables with old plates and gave us our bill on time. I will definitely be coming back to check out more items on their menu. What to order: –Chili Lemon Grass Chicken($ 9.95) Pros: –Private parking lot –Very friendly and fast service(Mary was a great waitress) Cons: –No alcohol served, bring your own booze(BYOB) –Closed on Tuesdays –Closes early at 9 p.m. on weeknights and 10 p.m. on weekends, so come earlier

This place is on point! The delivery arrived timely, as expected. We got the house special lo mein and the general tso chicken and both are so yummy. The best General tso I’ve ever had for sure! The crab puffs are also very good. They gave us this chili sauce that we put on the fried rice and it’s heavenly. It does have a nice spicy kick to it so beware. We will be ordering from here again. So glad to know there is a great Chinese restaurant just minutes away from us.

It was busy and loud inside but was sat quickly. I ordered the lunch special Pepper Chicken with brown rice and egg drop soup. As fast as I was sat and my order was taken, my food came out. The Pepper Chicken could’ve had more kick to it but it still was juicy and flavorful. It also comes with an egg roll. I love how there’s an option to order brown rice. The lunch special is under $ 9 which is a deal. I’ll be back for the Phở.

I really wasn’t expecting much coming here. It was late and we didn’t want to drive far and this was less than 5 minutes away. How bad can you mess up Americanized Chinese food? Apparently you can. The honey chicken wings were okay. The chicken was cooked well, but the marinade on the wings wasn’t tasty. The Kung Pao Chicken was disgusting(am I being too harsh?)! The flavour was bland and the dish in general was not appetizing. The Garlic Shrimp was decent. You can never really go wrong with a garlic sauce. I might have just ordered the wrong dishes, but I don’t plan on coming back anytime soon. I can’t be the only one that hurts a little inside when having to eat and pay for below average food.

Small neighbourhood restaurant that offers good food. I went here for lunch & was pleasantly surprised. They have a to go option but I’m not sure about delivery. We were seated & asked immediately if we were ready to order, I guess that they are used to regulars & having people in a rush at that time. We had a giggle & needed a few minutes! Our waitress was attentive at refilling our water & when we were ready to order was great at making a suggestion for the best sauce to go with our dish. The food came out quickly & was delicious. A friend suggested I try to crab cakes because they were the best he ever had. Quite the loaded statement wouldn’t you say?! They were very good, I believe that they add garlic to the cream cheese that made them unique in flavor. The only thing I would knock about them is that there’s too much dough & the dough on it’s own, is not very palatable. We ordered the lunch special with rice, I got the veggie option while my friend chose the tofu. It came with soup option(sweet & sour or egg drop) & an eggroll. I was not a fan of the eggroll at all, something was off about it. The eggdrop soup was prefectly salty & wasn’t too thin. We both were told that the hunan sauce was best for our meals so we went with it. It was slightly spicy but nothing too crazy. The vegetables were very well prepared, not too soft or too hard, were plentiful & had a nice mix. A little sign in the window let us know that they are now closed in Tuesdays. I would definetely head here again but this time I would try the Singapore noodles!

I really like this place. Now… It’s your classic American-Chinese Restaurant. Don’t go expecting something from Bellaire/Chinatown with authentic Chinese food. But the food is solid and good, and sometimes I prefer the Americanized version anyway :) I loved the Egg Drop Soup and my Orange Chicken dish. I got the lunch order. and it was HUGE. TONS of chicken, and it was good quality, not just a bunch of breading. Wife got the Phở. She thought it was pretty good, but that the Tofu was a little bland and could have used some better seasoning. I really like the service here, they’re very friendly and helpful. I’m pretty sure it’s family owned as well, which is always a plus for me. A good place for take-out in my near future :). Also, I’m pretty sure they put all the current sports games up on their screens.
