Hank’s Crawfish

Service is awesome staff is very cool and friendly. Love eating here! The shrimp fried rice is nice hot and buttery. The crawfish are always cooked to perfection.

The food was absolutely amazing. We drove from New Orleans and wanted some great food like home. Everything was amazing from the appetizers to the entrees! The food came out hot and was seasoned to perfection. We will be back!

I live around the corner from this location and finally gave it a try. The two times I have been, I walked away feeling meh, it’s ok, I don’t have to come here. First time I went, I ordered fried fish combo, and a salad on the side (to go). When I returned to work, I noticed that they had placed the fried fish on top of my salad, causing the cheese to melt. This made for a very interesting salad. The second time I came on a Friday night in which it was super busy. My family and I ordered, shrimp and crawfish boil. I will give it to them, the spicy boil is very spicy, wear your gloves! Service was horrible, we had to flag the waiter several times to refresh our beverages and get condiments. The three stars is primarily due to the taste of food, service is more like 2 star.

Normally come here for crawfish or shrimp. Today I decided on the shrimp for $ 7.99 mild flavoring with corn, potato, and sausage. The seasoning/​flavoring can be MUCH better but I probably should’ve have ordered the medium flavoring. A good place to go if you want some good seafood. I would return.

Crawfish, baby! Not nearly as good as Top Shelf in Richmond, but the funky festive ambience made up for it. We had crawfish and «skrimps.» The crawfish was very well seasoned, and there were no poop tubes as another reviewer noted. The shrimp was pretty good, although it could have been better seasoned. My hat is off to the hostess, who was really working it from the front of the house to the tables. We initially wanted to be on the patio, but once she got us out there and we noticed there was only one other table with patrons, and they were half dead, we opted to return inside. Of course by then, all inside tables had been taken, but she got us at the bar within 10 minutes.
All in all a fun place with food that’s made better by the ambience.

I am starting this review with a warning. If you are not used to spicy crawfish do not order the New Orleans spicy. It is hot. We like it. But the Citrus Garlic is fantastic. I would suggest asking to sampling the mild first. For the BBQ shrimp it is ok and the shrimp poor boy is not as good as others. I am rating it a 4 on service and the Citrus Garlic boil. Other than that it it would be a 3.5.

The crawfish are really good at this location. I prefer medium hot as opposed to the more spicier flavors offered. My family and I have also enjoyed the shrimp, boiled or fried, as well as many of the other delectable dishes from the menu. Before coming to Hank’s I’ve never heard of using plastic gloves while eating crawfish, but I must say after trying it I can definitely see the benefits. Spicy fingers after eating crawfish can be dangerous. We started out with the Boudin Balls as an appetizer which we all agreed had a really good flavor profile, but were fried to hard. The one thing I really had an issue with was Hank’s version of a Long Island iced tea. If you are a Long Island Iced Tea Aficionado like myself you may not be pleased as well. The Long Island has been by favorite drink since my college days. Hopefully it was a mere fluke and it will be better upon my next visit but I sincerely doubt it. For that reason I left one star off. C’mon Some folk love to have beer but I gotta have my tea with my crawfish! LOL. The ladies enjoyed the «Bayou Water» frozen drink which has a color reminiscent to… you guessed it… Bayou Water. LOL! For those of you who aren’t from Louisiana and don’t know why our meandering bodies of water are called «Bayous» I’m gonna tell ya. We call it a «Bayou» cuz no matter where you at in Louisiana, da water will pass right «Bayou!!» Enjoy your crawfish!!!

Seafood fried rice, fried fish n shrimp, crawfish dishes, the various drinks which i order by color… Bam! But the bags of crawfish, corn, potatoes swimming in all that cajun juice/flavor…garlic. of course i order fries to soak up the flavor. …yummy.

The food was good and fresh the pieces of crawfish were large and didn’t taste like they were ever frozen. The only reason I took a star off was I felt like they didnt know what to do with me since I was sitting alone.

Had the 4 fried shrimp and 4 oysters. Both were pretty good in size, also side salad with fries. Not bad but priced too high in my opinion. $ 25

Came here for dinner. I ordered a blacken catfish with white rice. It came with string beans and a garlic bread. It was delicious. One of the best catfish I ever had. The food took a really long time to be served. My friend jokingly asked the waiter if they had to run out to catch the fish. To make up for the wait, they gave us a piece of cheese cake on the house.
So overall, good experience.
I didn’t give it a 5 star because of many minor things:
Can be hard to get the waiter’s attention.
There’s two of us and they seated us at a table with 1 menu and was non responsive when my friend tried to get their attention for another menu.
When they served us our food, they didn’t provide us with the necessary utensils, and again, we had to wait for the waiter to pay attention to us so we can get the utensils and start eating.
And a few other minor things…

Great place to get crawfish! The garlic butter mix has to be my favorite! Haven’t tried too many other things on the menu but will definitely return to give it a go.

Went last night and bought 2 lbs of crawfish, not great but not bad, the bag was just so nasty and wet. Pulled up to the drive thru, nobody was there for 10 minutes and then I go inside, and they start answering the drive thru

This was a horrible experience. I just wasted $ 40 on 3 pounds of crawfish, red beans, rice and sausage. Anyone who says this place has good food don’t have any taste buds. It’s nowhere close to being authentic Louisiana food. Don’t waste your time and money if you really know good Louisiana food.

OMG THOSE SNOW CRABS ARE TO DIE FOR AND THE CRAWFISH!!! WINGS AND ALL… they are a little more expensive than the nasty hanks on Bellaire but I guess it’s because of the location. The staff is cool too, if you’re cool to them. My circle is friendly so we always have a blast with our servers.
Ask for NAY she is the best!!! lol

Dined at Hank’s on April 5, 2015. Convenient from home (check!), crawfish (check!), no long table/​forced communal dining (check!). We thought we’d hit a home run! Sadly, no:
*Had 6 lbs. of the mudbugs between us, and it appears that purging isn’t high on their priority list. Or even on their priority list. About 90% were full of… well…poop. And I do mean FULL. Ugh. GIANT NO-​NO.
*$ 8.99/lb? This is a great season, unlike last year, yet they’re still charging last year’s prices! At least, most of them were of decent size (not crawfishasaurus, but not crawfishlettes, either).
*…and then every. single. thing. is extra. Each potato, each piece of corn, each tiny container of butter. I half expected them to charge for the plastic bib.
*They’re served in a bag, and very, VERY wet! I nearly asked for a life preserver! When the bags arrived, we actually asked the server, «you’re sure these are 3 lbs. each?» because they did not look to be more than 2. There is just no way. There was literally about a half pound of water left in each bag.
Good things? Yeah, there are a few, and who knows… maybe their other food is just the bombdiggity, but we only had crawfish. They have a large scale of mild-​to-​OMG spicy from which to choose. The tea was good. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was fun and the place was clean.
But not going back. Ever.

WOW… who would have thought that a spot in a strip mall would have suck kick ass gumbo! AMAZING. It was nearly as good as my mother’s.
Getting crab in the shell plunked in the gumbo was not much fun cause I could not crack the sucker open. BOO. And that my friends is the ONLY reason I do not give this eatery 5 stars.
It is far from my digs in downtown, but if I happen to venture out to the Wertheimer and Wilcrest area, I would certainly say hey let’s eat at this place.
Since I was out there for training purposes, I did not get to sample the bar. There is a reverse happy hour which is cool. Just will not make it to it since I am a downtown gal.
The prices are decent. The portions are appropriate. The atmosphere is cool. All and all a very good experience. Give it a go and definitely get some gumbo.
My co-​worker had the bisque and was not a fan. I did not taste it cause I was all about the G U M B O!

I was about to write a review before and give it at least a 4 star rating potentially 5… And now 2!
I come here often and order the peel and eat shrimp for $ 4.99 now they jack the price up to almost double to $ 7.99!!!
What’s the difference? Nothing!!! They just obviously jacked the price up for no known reason.
I was pretty outraged by the nearly doubling in cost I almost wanted to leave when I saw it but I was too hungry!
I really don’t think I’ll be going back here for that reason!
Besides that food taste good but food tastes good but food tastes good at a lot of places.
