Hair Studio One – Theresa Close

I went in for a simple re– highlight/​lowlight with Theresa.
I showed her pictures of the color that I wanted… extremely simple to do. I’ve had my hair like this for years, so I know how simple, quick, and less expensive this could have been.
5, YES, FIVE hours!!! later I left with basically the same hair color and I am $ 170.00 poorer… Beware of the scam.

I have been going to this salon for three years and I love it. The prices are very reasonable. Theresa is a talented, professional and friendly stylist. The salon is always spotless! The location is great! Give her a call, you won’t want to go anywhere else ever again! Oh and Theresa is a master at color!!!

Theresa has been doing my family’s hair for years! She does the best coloring job, and I still drive down to go to her even though I live out of town. Last time I went in, she gave me some hilights and lowlights for summer. They look incredible and I love it! She takes her time, is personable, sweet and does a great job. She also does a fantastic job at cutting men’s hair and does work for my Dad and brother– they also love her. Highly recommended!

After years of getting my haircut at whichever chain barbershop was closest, my wife finally drew the line and told me to find a PROFESSIONAL hair stylist (though I prefer the term «barber») who could give me a good cut before an upcoming job interview. I’ll admit, as a guy, I didn’t think it made much of a difference who I went to. Man was I wrong. The first time I came home from Theresa’s shop, my wife said she would never let me go anywhere else, and I actually agreed. This lady knows what she’s doing.
For the previous 20 years I’ve been giving every barber I went to my usual order… «2 guard clippers on the side, short on top, leave the sideburns». Every single time, every single place. And no other barber had ever batted an eye. The first time I gave Theresa «the usual order» she said, «You know, if you will let me scissor-​cut the sides, I can get it as short as the clippers but it’s going to look a lot better 2 weeks from now». And the lady was RIGHT! Why hadn’t I been doing that for 20 years??? Because none of the other places I’d gone to knew any better or even cared in the first place.
That was in 2007 and 6 years later, I’m still going to Theresa. Being in real estate I spend a lot of time trying to make sure «the image» I present is professional. Nice shoes, pressed slacks, a starched shirt… none of that matters if it looks like I got my haircut by the lowest bidder. If you’re in the same position as I am, I would recommend giving Theresa a try. It was an easy decision for me.

Seriously, I can’t say enough good things about Theresa. I moved to Houston 2 years ago and have thick curly hair and have continued to FLY TO NEW YORK to get my hair cut because I couldn’t find anyone in Houston that could cut it well. But Theresa was a master!!! The color was perfect — and the cut was really really great. If you have curly hair — you really MUST go and see her! Not to mention Theresa’s personality makes the whole experience totally worth it! 5 stars absolutely!

I decided to try out Theresa’s skills based on the reviews from Houston Citysearch. There were mixed comments, but 38 5-​Stars out of 40. I have lived here for 2 years now and thank goodness for her otherwise I would have to go to the Barber Shop for my buzz cut. ;~D
I have super curly short hair (because I couldn’t find anyone with the confidence or skill to cut and style my «mixed hair»). I love going to Hair Studio One and I love the special treatment I receive from Theresa. She is not only thoughtful, caring, a great listener and story teller, she is a wonderful hair dresser. She, now, feels comfortable with super bright highlights with me and I will continue to let her try new things with me. Two weeks ago I took my mother (who has been wearing her hair grey for 2 years now) and we decided on a beautiful black cherry and cute «bob» or «crop» haircut. Mom looks amazing and we are all so very pleased with the result. When my grandmother moves here from Colorado this month, we’ll take her there also.
