Went here today as I’m being forced to golf for a work event this week :(. I’ve managed to escape this moment for 2 years… but here it is. I wish I’d planned ahead and ordered clothing off amazon because apparently women in Houston don’t golf? Stopped here after trying Academy where they had NOTONESINGLEPIECE of women’s golf attire(but racks and racks and racks of men’s). Got to golf Galaxy in the Kirby Drive area and their women’s wear was extremely picked over … Basically no mediums in ANYITEM and they were seriously lacking in Nike /Adidas or just fitted attire that would appeal to young women. Was forced to buy the one item in the store that came in a medium but would have paid more for«stylish pieces» and items not in crazy tennis mom patterns. I did have an extremely friendly worker come over and ask if I needed help looking for anything added stars for that. I’m probably coming at the wrong time? Is there a season for golf? If I have to golf next year I’ll stop in here around spring looking for a new top and update my Unilocal review accordingly …

i have bought several things here and the service was great this review is based on my last purchase, i came here to buy a big bertha driver that was on sale for $ 199 then i asked marty(the salesman) for other drivers that were very good and not that expensive he gave me two ping and two callaways so i could try them they didnt have the ping I25 on demo so he just grabbed a new one and taped the head so it wouldnt get scratched and he let me demo all those drivers on the simulator, i felt good because he wasnt making any pressure nor he was hurrying me up, he would just come by once in a while to see how i was doing, it was really hard for me to decide on four drivers so it was important for me i could try them all and compare. not many stores let you do this. i promise you you wont be dissapointed in this store!

As a newbie, golf can be daunting. Between the pricey equipment and the funny looking pants, I didn’t know where to start. Golf Galaxy got me started off in the right direction: a cheap-o set of clubs — «No matter what you get, you won’t be Tiger Woods tomorrow, and you can’t tell the difference» — and a pack of lessons — «Inside, so you can’t make excuses when it’s cold.» Perfect.

Good selection and prices, great clearance section esp for golf clothes but what ruined it for me was the dreadful Cashier Girl. Wow, terrible attitude toward the customer. Hey, don’t work there if you’re so unhappy with life.

I just traded two sets of irons for some Burner 2.0s with graphite shafts. I thought the dollars offerred for my old clubs was reasonable so I took the trade. The icing on the cake was the professional service provided by Mike Deering. He took extra care of the clubs when he changed the lie angle — making sure the change was accurate and he was careful to avoid damaging the shafts in the process. It is quite pleasant to work with a courteous and knowledgable professional rather than some minimum wage person who could care less if you ever darken the door again. Golf Galaxy is the place to go.

What a great place! I was really surprised by how helpful and friendly the staff was. As I do not play every weekend, I was worried this would be a similar experience to other specialty shops where the staff can make you feel, well, less than welcomed if your not a Pro. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get into the sport with little knowledge to give this place a chance. Also, Jerry at the Richmond location was a huge help — no pressure sales.

Houston weather has been unforgiving since I got back… but since I have been driving a lot of places I have not had to deal with too much rain(I know… I know… a San Francisco yuppie-hippie driving as opposed to taking the bus etc.) That was until a fateful Tuesday. I had decided to walk to Chipotle for lunch, since it wasn’t too far. But on my way back… CRACK-FLASH lightening and the heavens opened. I very quickly regretted not having an umbrella in my possession. But within 4 minutes I was in-out and umbrella in hand thanks to the friendly staff at Golf Galaxy. The guy saw that I was slightly wet from having been punished for my lack of umbrella and didn’t try to sell me a more expensive model. He handed me the el-cheapo and I was on my way.(those of you who haven’t tried to buy a golf umbrella maybe haven’t seen the $ 70 – 80 golf umbrellas for sale… and for that price I think it should putt for you)
