I’ve been going there for a long time. I love their food but they are getting a little price to me. The spicy seafood soup is amazing though.

First time there. Extensive menu for a tiny hole-in-the wall. Had the pork from the lunch menu. Came with white vegetable rice, some sort of broth only soup, fresh kimchi, broccoli, sprouts and something else green.

Upon walking in it was empty with two Spanish descent women managing both the front counter and kitchen. They were extremely helpful with the menu selection. The food was bland, not fresh, and aesthetically displeasing. Although there are some good reviews and that is what made my mind up to dine at the establishment, I’d stick to the mantra you get what you pay for! Albeit, rather pay more money and not go home hungry because it wasn’t appetizing in the least!

I’ve grown to really love this little hidden gem after a few more visits. Despite the run down hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, it can get pretty packed around lunch time because there’s not a whole lot of seating. It seems like all of the nearby Koreans congregate here. They know what’s up. I love the tasty daily rotating banchan here, especially the kimchi. Just wish they were fresh every time, as a few times I have received not so fresh banchan. Whether getting take out or dining in, you order at the counter first. When dining in, you can buy a packaged beverage from the attached convenient store or help yourself to a styrofoam cup and water. For a delicious lunch, get the BBQ pork special. The fatty red marinated slices of pork are perfect! Another delicious dish I like getting here, that is served all day, is the Japchae Bap. It’s a stir fried, savory and sweet dish made with glass sweet potato noodles and served with rice. A few slivers of beef and fish cakes are tossed in with napa cabbage, zucchini, spinach, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms. The sesame oil is used with a heavy hand, so this dish is a bit greasy. It’s pretty carb heavy as well, but just devour more of that healthy banchan! Also, try to pay with cash because you have to pay at the convenience store if you use your card.

Even if I like the food a lot but I have to give it one star for the service and for the rude young owner who kept looking at us while we’re eating our food since beginning to finish. We’re suppose to feel good and happy to eat the food s but rather felt uncomfortable like we’re not suppose to eat here or we’re some kind of people who not paying after eating.

It’s really a hole in the wall connected to a convenience store lol they have a very good selection and a couple of lunch specials that are cheap. I got Seollongtang and it came along with six banchans and they were all awesome! For non Koreans the oxtail soup might be bland but they give u sea salt on the side .I always add the Kim chi and daikon sauces in the soup to give it a booster… all the banchan are really good esp the Kim chi and odeng! I would give it the 5th star if they had better ac. I was sweating eating my soup! but still… it was good! And to top it off… free Sikhye! It was sweet but not too sweet and a perfect ending to my meal

I’m in love with this hole in wall restaurant that’s shadily hidden away near an empty lot combined with a convenience store. There are Hispanic ladies working in the front who are very knowledgeable about the menu and good at explaining. Everyone is really friendly. They also accept credit cards. This is way closer to me than a lot of Korean restaurants in Spring Branch and I think I’d rather go to this one than any other Korean places around Chinatown simply because it feels homely, and not a lot of people know about this place. The food is yummy, and I prefer restaurants like this compared to ‘fancy’ and expensive places. This place also has a lot of choices to choose from on the menu.

Decided to try this place because of all the good reviews even though it looked like a bad idea from the outside. Located in a rundown plaza and is connected to a convenient store. The food was not very good. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. None of the Banchan was that great either. What we had: Seafood pancake Bulgogi Spicy beef & vegetable soup The seafood pancake looked good but was undercooked. The bulgogi was way too dry. The only thing that tasted ok was the soup. They had a bar of soap for the bathroom, which is gross.

This is the definition of a hole in the wall place. The food is always good and pretty decent portion size for the relatively cheap pricing. I am a fan of the bbq beef and the bbq pork lunch specials for $ 7. You get delicious, perfectly greasy meat, big scoop of rice and all the typical fresh/pickled sides.

I noticed there were no updated photos so I decided to take a chance. The restaurant is really located inside a convenient store which is interesting. I ordered my usual which is normally between bi bim bap or tofu soup. I went for the bi bim bap. It was okay, obviously I’ve had better, but it gets the job done in terms of fulfilling my Korean craving. The prices are cheap and you order at the front and pay in the back where the convenient store is located. Jajangmyeon: 2/5, Terrible, I felt like I was just eating noodles, that so happened to be covered in black bean sauce. Also where’s the pork?

This is a tiny hole in the wall restaurant that doesn’t have an English sign out front and is so easy to miss, but the food is very delicious and authentic. Pros: — huge portions(big enough to share between 2 people) — decent pricing(~$ 7-$ 12) — delicious food(we got a variety of rice, potato noodles, and soups) — AMAZINGRICEPUNCH!!! Cons: — A bit small(kind of ghetto looking) — Easy to miss the store Overall, pretty neat place, especially if you like less main stream, hole in the wall treasures.

Excellent Korean food! I come here every Friday. It is truly a hidden gem! The sweet potato banchan and egg with shrimp are amazing! I always order the mul nangmyun but get hot sauce to kick it up a notch. The owner grows most of her veggies as well. My mom gives her some veggies too from our garden. They have become very good friends to us now. Don’t be fooled by the convience store attached to it, it’s delicious!

Well. To me, I really like this small restaurant. If you don’t know, you will never know it’s a restaurant. It’s actually inside a small grocery store. Don’t expect too much for the interior or service. You don’t have to pay tips so simply everything you have to get it by yourself. I have been here many times and I will continually come back for their food. I always ordered the beef rib soup and it’s one of the best to me so far.

I was quite disappointed. I was hoping to find a hidden gem of a mom & pop joint. We ordered the: Seolleongtang is a Korean broth tang(soup) made from ox bones(mostly leg bones), brisket and other cuts. Seasoning is generally done at the table according to personal taste by adding salt, ground black pepper, red pepper, minced garlic, or chopped spring onions. Jajangmyeon is a noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of chunjang(a salty black soybean paste), diced pork and vegetables. Food was blan. Sides dishes were odd. Don’t think we’ll be back.

A fantastic restaurant. Authentic Korean food for a wonderful price. My first trip here was quite the adventure and it was a bit difficult to find at first. It is located at the back of a convenient store in a dangerous looking shopping strip, but the food was very worth it! The Restaurant sign is in all Korean, rather than English. The bibimbab(hot stone rice dish) and bulgogi(Korean beef) here are very large in portions, and are rich flavors. The price is averaged at $ 7 — $ 15 for a regular entrée which includes soup and an assortment of banchan(side dishes). A total bang for your buck, for Korean food. Albeit the great food, this place is not the best for large groups to dine in since it is in the back of a convenient store, and the staff seems annoyed of large(non Korean) groups. I recommend taking it all to-go. This place is worth the adventure and the experience. Ladies, it’s best not to go here alone since the area is a bit shady.

This is really a hole-in-the-wall Korean restaurant. I have been eating here for a few years. I found it through an advertisement on Chinese newspaper. But it was lacking English signage. With the help from Unilocal reviews, I could finally confirm this place. I tried to bring my non-Asian friends there. But they got freaked out by its setup. It was nothing more than a kitchen with a shared dining hall. But the food was really authentic. I was happy that they opened a real sit down restaurant in Korean Town(Spring Branch area).

The restaurant is inside the«Young Store»:) I love their picture menu:) had the short beef rib and spicy pork, both were super tasty! Better than few other korean restaurant in bellaire and the price was decent. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the side dishes was okie. Otherwise, definitely will return:)
