this is what I picture an Italian ice cream shop to look like, in Chicago, and speaking of Chicago, they now have Chicago’s famous deep dish brand Connie’s! but having this beautiful shop here in h-town is a sweet deal for a sweet tooth on many sweaty days. appearances live up to expectations in this case too. it’s rough to shun fat cat creamery so many times lately in favour of gelazzi, but the shear variety of flavours, quality and atmosphere have won our hearts! tons of samples, please! when should I feel guilty and stop asking for them? there’s too many incredible flavours to try, not enough stomach space. but the staff are friendly enough to indulge everyone’s cravings. they really seem to change up the choices often, which is nice because who doesn’t want to try new flavours every time one visits? correct me if I’m wrong, but no one seems to have taken pics of their Connie’s pizza yet. now I’m going to make it my mission to try one! how can it get better than a Chicago deep dish followed by one of the world’s best gelati? coming soon! also the cannoli is so rich and heavy, wow! never had that quality before; think of what was I missing! and the even have medio litros of Coke, nice! we have made this our new go to dessert place and it’s going to be hard to beat!!!

First time here and it was pretty good! Had TONS of options on the menu and the service was really great. They give very large scoops so don’t feel like you need to get more than one if you aren’t very hungry. The one thing I will say is that all of the flavors I tried(which was a lot) had extremely STRONG flavors. They were great if I am just having a bite or two, but they are so sweet and overpowering that once I got my cup I could barely eat it just because the flavor was too much. Will probably try again, especially since they have pizzas now too! It was also a bit pricey, but like I said they give big portions.

Cute little spot for gelato in the heights. Tons of flavor options and they will let you sample the flavors as you try to make your decision. They also serve baked goods — I had a lemon ricotta cookie this weekend that was delicious. It was simple and sweet but the lemon flavor was not overpowering. They also serve food — lasagna, pasta, pizzas, and salads. We got to sample the deep dish Chicago style pizza for free. I typically prefer thinner crust, but this pizza was delicious! The bell peppers and pepperoni seemed fresh, and it was not drowned in sauce and cheese. The dough was soft and great too. Will definitely be returning to try more of the food items.

Great Gelatto. Some of the best. They just started serving Chicago deep dish pizza. It was delicious. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I prefer NY thin crust style. The sauce and ingredients(sausage! Pepperoni!) were great quality. Next time I’ll be having the thin crust and I’m sure a 5 star rating. Great outside picnic table seating and family friendly.

If a hipster Italian opens a gelato restaurant, it’ll probably look like Gelazzi. Which I don’t doubt if the owner is actually a hipster Italian! It’s really tough not to love the neon-lit gelateria that is also adorned with nostalgic Italian memorabilia like flyers of famous Italian cities or mini replica masterpieces like David. However, my favorite aspect about Gelazzi is the backyard that is perfectly lit with some lights that makes it perfect to enjoy a gelato night. Although the price is a bit steep with $ 3.50 per scoop, the gelato is absolutely solid, so I do highly recommend Gelazzi as a great place to hang out with your friends or go on a date over some delicious Italian ice cream!

I’ve been seeing photos of the mural on the side of Gelazzi everywhere so I(mistakenly) assumed it must be good with the number of people who visit. Sadly, the gelato isn’t nearly as nice as the mural. I was expecting to see some unique flavors, but the selection consisted of pretty average choices. When we first arrived, I noticed the gelato all looked a little«misshapen» — as if it had melted before and refrozen. When I tried my first gelato sample, it was clear that was the case. The texture was all off and it wasn’t creamy and airy like gelato should be. This was especially disappointing as everyone knows ice cream(and gelato by extension) is never the same once it’s melted. The flavors themselves weren’t especially memorable either as I can’t remember what I tried, other than the strange texture. The Italian ices, however, tasted really fruity and hit the spot perfectly. However, there was also some textural inconsistency, with my boyfriend’s being firmer and mine melting much more quickly and with an «elastic» consistency(I’m guessing it had more sugar).

Very good. The best gelato I’ve had in the states? No, which is why I’m in giving 4 stars and not 5. But very very good, great flavors, nice little place. Birthday cake is my fav.

I got two scoops in a bowl because I just could not decide on a flavor. I got the strawberry banana and the acai. Both were SO good. The acai was actually Italian ice(no milk) and the strawberry banana was gelato(milk). It’s a bit of a drive since I don’t live in the area, but my friends and I were feeling adventurous that day. Can’t wait to come back. Staff was nice, interior was nice, and the patio was cute. Also there is a nice mural outside that we took a billion pictures with.

I expected so much more from this place. The hype did not live up to the expectations. The gelato was sadly just average. And for average gelato, I felt cheated by the prices. Not to mention they overcharged me for 4 items, when it was only 3 items. I came at around 9:30pm and there was a line. Being that it was my first time, I thought wow this must be amazing if there were people waiting in line for this place at this time. WRONG. the line wasn’t even that long, and yet we waited for awhile. The service was slow, which caused the back-up which created the illusion that there was a real line. I would give this place another chance, hopefully it will be a better experience.

When I imagine a night in the Heights, it always includes bringing my dog and finding street parking, and Gelazzi meets both those criteria. I was happy to find Gelazzi because the Heights needed more dessert options for after dinner. I wouldn’t say it’s the best gelato ever as rated by texture and mouthfeel, but it’s definitely the richest flavors I’ve had. I’m a lover of frozen desserts, and usually I can easily eat a 2 scoop cone, but the flavors were so decadent and deep, I ended up giving the last few bites to my pup. The back patio is huge and was a great place to enjoy my brownie and cheesecake gelatos. There is a cool mural on the outside wall, a human-sized ice cream cone and a bowl of water for the K9 friends to cool down. Great location, great product, good service!

Good gelato place in the Heights! Street park. Look for the Houston mural on the side of the store, snap a pic! You’ll also see picnic tables in the back patio which I thought was a nice little area to hang out. They have a lot of unique flavors, even one that was actually good beer. Sampled a few and flavors were on point. I ended up getting the pistachio and what I really liked about it was that there were actual pistachio bits in the gelato! Consistency was creamy and yummy. They do also sell other items, such as, cake balls that looked good too. I’m sure to go back to try some other flavors and the waffle cone next time! Cute place, already recommended friends to try! PS– it’s walking distance from Happy Fatz!

I love gelato, it is my weakness next to macarons. Came here during my funemployment days and sampled a few flavors before I decided on salted caramel and pistachio. The creaminess of the gelato melts in your mouth and I tried so hard not to devour the bowl before I left the building. They also have pastries including cake balls, cake slices, cannolis, etc screaming at your inner fat kid to eat them but I stuck to the gelato… maybe next time. As I was walking out, a couple asked me to take a picture of them in front of the Houston mural on the side of the building… I took one look at my melting gelato and told them I had to be somewhere. #PRIORITIES.

It was Labor Day and I wanted to take my family out to dessert after lunch and this place has been bookmarked for a little while now and I wanted to take the opportunity to try it with my loved ones. Immediately around the area, I saw many photo opportunities and that’s always a plus for me. There’s the Houston mural and the big olé ice cream. After posing in the sun we went inside and were immediately hit by the cold. There was a mini line, but nothing to bad. My family and I literally tried every flavor they had because we were so indecisive. I was a bit disappointed in the variety of flavors that they had because I thought they were known for having unique flavors. Of course, they had more of a variety when compared to American brand ice cream/gelato shops, but it was still lacking compared to other places I’ve visited. PISTACHIO I liked that it was nutty and creamy. It was very smooth and aromatic. RUMRAISIN The rum was very strong in my taste. It was grainy and too alcohol-y for me. ACAI This sorbet was sweet, but had a bit of tangy-ness to it. Pretty good the first few bites, but got overly sweet once you keep eating it.

After reading the rave reviews, I stopped by on a hot and humid TX day. I ordered the cookies and cookies which was my favorite flavor. It tastes like oreo cookies! The other flavors are just okay, nothing too special. I also tried their cannoli, which is made fresh to order. However, it was also just okay. Check out the graffiti wall, which was pretty cool!

After having a nice lunch at Happy Fatz we walked down to Gelazzi’s to partake of some serious Gelato! A quaint shop in the Heights the selection is really good and the experience very satisfying! Nice staff! Nice selection! A great treat in the Houston Heights!

We walked in at 9:15 on a Tuesday evening after a yummy dinner at Karbach! Wanted something sweet to finish the night off! The lady behind the counter seemed to be over today, she wasn’t friendly or unfriendly just kind of there. We asked for samples of two flavors and she obliged. She wasn’t interactive with us, simply serving us the ice cream and ringing us up. We got a single scoop in a waffle cone each was $ 4.87. They have cookie butter speculoos gelato! My best friend got that flavor. She was over joyed and so excited they had the flavor I forgot to take a picture of it. I got Espresso gelato — the consistency was just right not icy and not too smooth. It was not melting down our hands by the end of the cone, hard to keep things the right temperature in this Houston heat! The gelato met my expectations. The customer service was lack luster, I wanted more of a friendly heights vibe. I will totally come back! Bet the vibe is better on the weekend! Would have rated 3 stars but the gelato was so yummy I gave it a 4!

Who: friends When/where: Heights, Sat night What: pistachio, hazelnut ale Why: Loved the spacious outdoor patio in the back! Even on a summer evening in Houston, it was really comfy. Pistachio has lots of texture(lots of nut pieces mixed in), which was a nice surprise. Hazelnut ale was SUPERHOPPY also an interesting surprise(never ordering blind again). Overall, good experience.

I first visited Gelazzi in the summer of 2014 so just about a year later I visited again and this place is still fantastic! Gelazzi opened in the spring of 2014, so my first visit would have been within the first 3 months of operation and I had a good customer experience and fast forward to today, same thing! If there is anything I value as a consumer, it’s consistency. Yesterday I stopped into Gelazzi with a girlfriend, we were taking ourselves on a Graffiti tour of Houston and after seeing the«Before I Die» wall on White Oak we had been in the hot sun for too long so we stopped into this Oasis. My friend is lactose intolerant and whattayaknow?! Gelazzi has about 8 flavors with no diary! As other reviewers before me have said, there is a great selection of tasty and inspired flavors. Yes the scoops are a little spend(~$ 3) but they hit the spot and are refreshing in the Houston heat. Plus there is an awesome patio space behind the store for you to sit and enjoy your smooth ice cream & catch up with friends. PLUS — There is an awesome«Greetings from Houston» mural on the side of the building that is worth checking out all on it’s own. Who doesn’t love a photo shoot + tasty treat all rolled into one stop?!
