I went to Friends restaurant yesterday, but i’ve been once before. I love it here. the food and alcohol prices are very reasonable compared to other places.

Always a good time coming to Friends! They have a lot more options on the menu now so it’s a good variety for whatever your current craves are. They have several private rooms for those who want to Karaōke but I enjoy singing in the main room/serving area. The Karaōke list has a good mix so even though it’s a Korean Restaurant there’s plenty of English, Japanese, and Chinese songs: D

So I went to Friends about two weeks ago. I setup a Meetup an event here since it offered a place to have karaōke and food. We had a group of about 18 people. I must say that the Service was exceptional. I have certain allergies so the manager made sure to answer all of my questions regarding what was in each of the dishes and was willing to make modifications for me. The owner and manager were really nice and treated the group really well. The drinks and food were priced well. I will definitely be going back and planning other events there in the future. I would recommend that if you have an event there… have your group get there early so they can find parking. The parking lot fills up quickly. :) Sing, drink, and be merry.

I usually don’t write reviews more than once, but I couldn’t just let people write untrue review for this friends restaurant. I was there last night for the 3rd time again and ordered beer with fried chicken but it was not 8 to 9 pieces it was more like 14 to 15 pieces. They are also good with stuff on the house they have best customer service and trying very hard cause it’s new management!!! And they list the price for every food on the menu I just don’t understand people eating good food and complain about the price!!! Especially prices are listed lol please people write true reviews and if you’re not willing to pay for good food then you should cook your own food at home!!!

Was craving fried chicken one day, so I decided to try this place after all the great reviews I read about Korean Fried Chicken(KFC). I come in, sit down, never bothering to look at the menu, and ask for«one order of fried chicken please.» My fiancé met me there shortly afterwards and we were brought a platter of maybe 7 or 8 chicken pieces. I’m not talking about drumstick, thigh, wing, breast… these were chicken PARTS My fiancé assured me it WAS chicken, because the parts were quite unrecognizable to me. It was the parts you buy all in one pack AFTER they cut off the main pieces, she informed me. Anyway, it was crispy and tender, although a little bland, and served with a decent honey-chili sauce. Also was served with pickle slices and what appeared to be picked turnip cubes. We also were brought a little plate of sweet fish slivers, which actually were not offensive at all. So after enjoying maybe 6 of of the 8 chicken parts, we were offered a complimentary can of sprite. We accepted. KICKER: We get ready to leave and fiancé hands me a $ 20, I go to the register thinking this will cover the order of fried chicken AND a tip. WRONG. To my utter surprise, the kind waiter informs me that the total is actually $ 25.99 — for an 8 piece order of chicken! Parts no less! I was so shocked, and as I waked back to our table to get some more money I was searching mathematically for the logic that made this plate of second string chicken parts $ 26. Came up with nothing. Handed him another $ 10 and we split. I’m still scratching my head. Should have gone to KFC.

I’ll first start off by saying that I haven’t written a Unilocal review before this, but I feel that Friends Restaurant really deserves it. About 10 friends and I reserved a private room here for a birthday celebration, and we had some really great food and a really awesome time singing some outrageous karaōke. The restaurant has new owners(two brothers) as of July, and I have to say that despite the huge language barrier, the service was exceptional. It took a little work to get information on pricing(a lot of phone calls and text messages were exchanged), but the owner was definitely willing to work with us and gave a discounted meal/drink/karaōke combination at a fair price. We were able to make a reservation no problem, and the staff was even willing to push the start time of our karaōke reservation back until most of our party showed up(since a lot of us were running late). Walking in, the main restaurant sat completely empty except for the restaurant staff, who sat in the bar area and kindly directed us to our private room. I had been to Friends one time before, and don’t remember being all that impressed with the private room we were in the first time. However, I was pleased to find that the private room this time was VERY clean and was well decorated with some cute throw pillows, balloons, and even maracas for more karaōke debauchery! The night-of staff was also very attentive. At the start of the night, they showed us how to use the remote to input songs for karaōke, and also gave us some food recommendations(since both the remote and the food menus are written in Korean). They also regularly checked in to fill our water pitchers and made sure we were having a good time and that there was nothing else we needed. We even got a few grins and chuckles from the staff when we tried saying to them in Korean«kamsahamnida». Definitely great service! As for the food, we ordered several dishes but admittedly, I was getting too much into the karaōke and didn’t get a chance to try everything. The Korean fried chicken was great though! My friends weren’t complaining and seemed to like the food. But again, the menu is in Korean, and I was surprised they didn’t have your staple Korean bulgogi or seafood pancake. The food we did order was good though, so I wouldn’t say this is a deal breaker. On top of that, our party also ordered 5 bottles of soju and it was smooth and perfect. Overall, we had a really fun and memorable experience at Friends and I definitely recommend it! Having a friend who can read/speak Korean to help bridge the language gap will make the reservation process a little easier(I think the lady can speak Mandarin Chinese too). Other than that, with this level of service I think we will definitely be back! Thanks for the great time, Friends!

I went there this past Saturday night for dinner with three other people. We were greeted at the door by several of the women who worked there. They insisted that they were no longer serving food and that we leave. It was very strange since I had just been there for dinner the week before(twice). The food was delicious but unfortunately apparently it was not enough to continue to sell. Now it must just be a bar.

At 7 pm awful service, very bland Korean fried chicken, messed up our order, waitress didn’t speak English, never brought sugar for my tea, etc. Oh and also we were the only people there. Bad. Must be good for karaōke cuz food and service are not. Only thing worth eating is seafood pancake

Came in because of Unilocal at 6 pm no one in the restaurant. Yikes. We ordered steamed Mandu, fried chicken and fish stew. Everything was excellent. Best Korean food we had in HOUSTON, very fresh and. Delicious

I’d go ahead and say it. But one of the newest trends/fads to hit Houston soon will be KFC, Korean Fried Chicken. It’s like how Ramen crept up on Houston, KFC will be here soon and the lines will start to form all around town. But before then, you can get a jump on it and try it out for yourself. So KFC, is double fried chicken, with younger chickens, so the meat is more tender. They offer a whole chicken basically fried and seasoned. OMG the sauce is to die for. You also get some Korean BBQ side dishes so that’s a plus too. We also ordered a Kim chi soup with pork. Check it out now before it gets popular and you’ll end up having to wait a long time and probably pay more for it.

BESTFRIEDCHICKENEVER!!! Their seafood pancakes melt in your mouth. I have never had korean pancakes that had the consistancy of hash browns. Of course the soju bottles with a picture of psy on them added some extra flair.

Arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday night, a few tables were taken and they had private rooms for dining and karaōke. Pretty good food and service. Portions were good for 1 – 2 people. I liked the squid dishes. The fried chicken pieces are pretty good. My group didn’t enjoy«#1 kimchi with rice,» its pretty basic. The pork bulgogi was tasty. You can tell them the level of spiciness in your dish. The side dishes tasted average. The rooms have a «call bell» button for service. It’s a great place to have dinner and karaōke. There is not a lot of room for dancing while singing, but the karaōke rooms are an overall«okay» size.

Came here Saturday evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The area seem kind of sketch driving in, but it was completely fine, it’s not the most pretty side of town. The restaurant was pretty empty when we walked in at 6:30. The lady that greeted us was very friendly. When our group arrived we got seated in the first karaōke room by the entry. The room was pretty spacious and fit our group of 14 just fine. The karaōke set up in the front of the room. We loved the karaōke and had such a great time dancing and singing while eating and enjoying everyone’s company. The food was great! Probably some of the best Korean food I’ve had. Not that I’ve had a lot, but my friend is Korean and she loves this place so it must be a good thing, right? ;-) Their fried chicken was crispy and delish. We ordered so many dishes and shared. My favorite dish was the ddeok bbok gi, idk what exactly it was but man it was tasty! You can see for yourself, I’ve attached a pic. It was sort of fat shaped dough noodle with spicy veggies and spicy sauce, yum yum. We also got to try their fried kimchi pancake, and the seafood pancake,(it’s not really a pancake per say) but you get the gist. I would recommend this place if you want to get a group of friends/family together and have some good Korean food and karaōke, we had a blast.

Went here with a pretty large group of friends(about 12 of us) to celebrate the manfriend’s birthday on a late-late Saturday night. Is the restaurant in a slightly sketch area? Well when you drive to that area at 1AM at night, I guess it can look pretty sketchy, but I’m sure in the daylight the area doesn’t look so bad. Regardless of how ghetto its surroundings may be, once you walk inside you’re welcomed by a quaint and well-lit restaurant. Very cute, and very Korean. We wanted to make use of the karaōke room, since we were celebrating a birthday and all. Not sure how many karaōke rooms there are exactly, but from what I could tell, each of the karaōke rooms catered to different party sizes. The first room they put us in could probably fit 8 people comfortably so it was a little cramped for our party of 12, and they apologize for the small-ness of the room. They were waiting for another party to leave from the larger karaōke room. No biggie, they had explained the situation to us and apologized, and said they would move us into the bigger room as soon as it was available. They did exactly as they said, and less than 10 – 15 minutes later we were moved into a big and spacious karaōke room. Problem solved, no muss no fuss. I’ve never had«Korean» fried chicken before, and I was pleasantly surprised! I got the non-spicy flavored chicken and it was so good! We couldn’t get enough of it. I mean, literally… we couldn’t get enough of it so we ordered a second round. Moist and tender chicken pieces with a crunchy exterior that was flavored with… well, I don’t know what exactly, but I’ll call it a flavor of deliciousness. I also ordered the dukboki(spelling?), because that is my ABSOLUTE favorite Korean dish and it was such a good price(some places charge like $ 20!!!) for the amount they give you. I was not disappointed and my dukboki-craving-monsterous self was satisfied. Another dish that we ordered was a Korean«egg roll,» not to be mistaken with a Chinese/Vietnamese egg roll. It’s literally like an egg omelette, rolled up… hahaha. But still delicious, another dish that we actually ordered again in the same sitting. Korean kimchi pancake was delicious, chicken gizzards… not so much, but that’s not because it was terrible, I just don’t like chicken gizzards. The entire staff at Friends was so accommodating and helpful, they were really patient with us when we non-Koreans were attempting to order dishes and use the karaōke remote(a little difficult to use at first because it’s in Korean, but just ask one of the waitstaff to show you and once you learn how to use it, it’s easy peasy!). We sang and ate our hearts out and had a great time with some company and good food. Nothing to complain over here :) Will definitely go again!

Man, this place really needs some improvement. I was craving korean fried chicken like craaazy so I decided to bring a friend here. I was hoping to impress her with a cool new spot but the food came out alright and it was very dead. Sweet, little korean lady did her best to feed us. The place is a bit outdated… actually, it’s freakin outdated. At first, you’re like. hm, interesting, I can do this. but then it kinda makes you feel a little lost. Ah, but I do see this place on Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen nightmare. I can see him redo-ing this place. Since, last time I got the fried chicken, I wanted to try the wings. The fried chicken was too big to dig into last time. Note: the spicy sauce for the wings are pretty damn spicy. It’s basically hot buffalo-y sauce but with a korean chile paste. Do ask for the tomato sauce. It has a slight kick in it but it’s good.
