About me: I come from the land of Idlis. I have had Idlis for breakfast almost everyday for 20 yrs. That i believe gives me enough experience to rate this place. My Review: There aren’t any places that serve idlis for breakfast in the houston area. So i was excited when i saw this place and that too with 5 star reviews. When i found that this place was run by college kids, i felt all the more appreciative of their entrepreneurship and wanted to give it a try. So i drove about 30 mins from home in the morning. Ordered at 7:15 over the phone. A gentleman confirmed that i can pick up order at 7:45. It was a neighborhood and business was run out of a home(i have no qualms there). I went and waited in the parking. Called them and the guy said order is getting ready(it was about 7:45). My order did not come out till 8:15. I was ok with it. After i got back home, started to taste everything i had ordered 1. Magic Idli — Idlis are supposed to be soft like sponge, but these were hard. Hard like a rock for an idli 2. Oats idli — Was not cooked at all and had raw uncooked smell 3. Chutney — Raw smell 4. Sambar was spiced water with some coconut flakes sprinkled. No where close to calling this a sambar. A lot of reviews here are 5 star. I am not sure how a food like this would get 5 star reviews. Either 1.People who have rated it 5 star have never had an idli before(indian restaurants in houston serve way better idlis) Or 2. They are biased reviews. In my honest opinion, I believe its #2 Final word: If you are starting out to make it big, try to make sure your food tastes good. Else you are setting yourself up for failure, no matter how many 5 star reviews you«get» PS: Youtube has some great videos on making idlis, chutneys and sambar

We had been to Houston for a day and we were searching for south indian restaurant for breakfast as were craving for idlis and dosas. We happened to find this place, initially we were skeptical, but we ordered it online and then picked it up from store. We were there in Houston only for a day and were thinking whether to eat in car. But they welcomed us to their backyard, so that we can relax and have our breakfast. +5 for hospitality. Coming to idlis, they were just delicious, chutney was out of the world — best I’ve ever had in US so far. Their website is also decent, pretty seamless to order and pick it up from their house.

The food was just average. I ordered one dosa and button idlis and plain idli and they gave just one box of sambar. Really! Also sambar wasn’t great in taste. As mentioned by other people also delivery was made half an hour late than scheduled time. They don’t take any minimum charges for delivery and also delivery is free if you order from doordash.

I ordered breakfast catering for very important clients from India. We had Idlis, Dosas and curry potatoes along with Tea and Coffee. The breakfast tasted amazing and our clients said several times to tell the caterer that he did a fantastic job with providing authentic and delicious Indian Breakfast. The communication and order process was also easy and smooth. Thank you again! You were a big help!

Unilocal reviews have always driven us to try new restaurants. To see a 5 star Indian restaurant not yet tested by us and only serving our favorite breakfast item– IDLY!!, motivated us to order around 40 idlis(for a group) of the available kinds and some pooris also. Well… oh well were we in for a surprise. We did not even mind the wait times(50 mins!!) and the goof up of the order — all because we knew we were in for a treat with the idlis. Sadly neither the idly, sambar nor chutney met our expectations of any kind. Most idlis were hard, some were not even cooked on the inside. Nobody can go wrong with idli making(courtesy: any idli loving Indian and its absolutely NOT rocket science!!). Sambar had no taste of any kind, was extremely watery and chutney had the smell and taste of raw dal. None of the items used for sambhar/chutney seemed fresh! Pooris were the only saving grace but probably it felt the best of the lot after our disappointment with the idlis. The idea of serving only idlis is fantastic however lacks proper execution! For a dollar a idly one would expect a whole lot more! We might never go here again or might go ahead and try it provided we hear from somebody else(not through Unilocal) that it was actually really fluffy and tasty and good!

The yummiest south indian food we have ever had in Houston. This place is a must visit for authentic home made idli’s and dosas! It was truly refreshing to find such an amazing breakfast joint, run by students. Food was fresh and chutney/sambhar were simply amazing. Great initiative!

Best Idlis. Best Chutney. Best Sambar. You basically know where I am going with this. Everything is homemade and tasty. It is a weekend staple at my house and will continue to be. I wish there were more star I could give them.

So I ordered bunch of stuff from this place on a lazy Sunday morning to be delivered, I called them to confirm my order only to realize that i’ll have to wait for 1:30 hours before I can get my food. Nevertheless, after about 2 hours I called them again only to realize that food hasn’t been dispatched yet. After total 3.5 hours of waiting and multiple calls, I finally got the food. The person who delivered was very apologetic and even offered to waive the food bill. But I didn’t want them to suffer so I asked them against it. On opening the food container I realized that couple of idlis were not present on contacting them again they said that they’ll give me store credit for the same. The food in itself was delicious, do try their bullet idlis. I’ll give them another chance to mend their mistake. NOTE: They did mention to place order one day prior to avoid similar goof ups in future

Came for breakfast. We ordered magic idlis, poori and magic dosas. Every item was just amazing. This is a togo restaurant. They also deliver to your place. If you are looking for a good indian breakfast, this is your best bet. will be back to try more. The items tasted better than sarvana bhavan.

Best place to stop by for those missing indian food badly. A very pleasant place to kick your morning buzz off by having the hot and spicy dosa’s, idlies and lot more. I would say that this is the best place to hang on if you are a chutney lover. The service is quick enough and the man who served us is very friendly. pesarattu upma, served on weekends and guntur onion dosa are my favorites. I would definitely recommend everyone to visit this place and enjoy the taste.

By far the best quick breakfast option in South Indian food. The service was way too quick and absolutely very less wait time. They were very kind and friendly enough to offer us all facilities like water and extras while we just ate right inside our car parked at their front porch. Great place to eat if you are starving at 7 in the morning. I hope they grow even bigger and become one of the happening breakfast joints in Houston and even in other cities.

Literally the best option when I’m too lazy or busy to put on real people clothes and go out. Actually these idilis are way better than other sit-in options like Sri Balaji or Udipi and get directly shipped to your home.

Absolutely love the idlis! I have to order from them ATLEAST once a week. My family and I aren’t huge fans of idlis except from this place. They are much tastier than any other restaurant in Houston. The oats and masala idlis are the go-to for us. The chutney and sambhar are just as delicious. Great food and great service!

My favorite idli place in town. Way better than the ones you get in commercial joints like sarvanna or udipi. Oats idly, sambhar, pessarattu are perfect for weekend breakfasts and I get them every other weekend. Not too pricey and a good home delivery service.
