Excellent Cheap and Delicious Food! Run by two brothers and their wives. This place has seen better days but their food hasn’t changed. I love their shrimp toast, Curry chicken, shrimp chopped up on fried white vermicili. They are a loving and caring family always extending their attention to their patrons.

I ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken lunch special today with won ton soup. The soup was incredible. A golden broth that isn’t watery like some places have. The chicken was very good. The egg roll was delicious too. The next time I order this, I’m getting the full size order with a large won ton soup so that I can pig out. And an order of egg rolls too…

Why does this place don’t have Orange Chicken/beef? No matter — I’m not a big fan of Chinese American food — I’m more into the authentic Chinese but this place is pretty good. Pro This place is pretty clean! I say that cause«have you been to a restaurant where they don’t clean the bottle of the sauces or just refill them and that’s it?» well this place do clean the bottles and change the sweet and sour sauce + mustard to a different container in a daily basis Descent prices for lunch and the portion is more than fair.(entrée, rice, soup and eggroll) Cons Not a big fan of their eggroll as it is small and no meat. The drink(Iced tea) is not included — even if I had to pay for it, I wish I could take it to go — meaning THEYDONTHAVETOGOCUPS! WTH???

The restaurant itself needs some serious renovations. It is so dated. The curry chicken was ok, it was very mild and it tasted watered down. The fried rice was just as bland, didn’t look very fresh. I also had the pork rolls and cheese wontons. The pork rolls were normal sized with not very much filling and very greasy. The cheese filling in the wontons had very good flavor but the wrap was hard and felt stale.

This place is too legit! Everything from the service to the food is great. The chicken chow-ming, General Tso;s chicken, beef broccoli and egg rolls are some of the best dishes and a personal favorite of mine that I would recommend to everyone.

Recently went there for a food crawl night with 3 of my friends. This was the first place that we hit because we wanted to eat their Sizzling Rice soup. Overall, the appearance of the restaurant was a little dated and it looked to be one of those first gen chinese restaurants. We only ordered the soup and some pork pot stickers. The pot stickers weren’t nothing to write about but they were decent. I typically don’t like the dumpling dough but again it was ok. The main event — the Sizzling Rice soup — this was something i had never heard about. Essentially they fried half cooked rice on a wok(or some kind of iron cast pot) to the point where they are super hot and crispy. They serve it with a soup(a mix of cabbage, beef, chicken). The thing is before they serve it put they dump the rice into the soup creating the sizzling sound(similar to what you would think of sizzling beef would be like) except that the sizzling occurs in the soup. Overall, it was good and provided an interesting texture which actually felt familar to me. Maybe I’ve had something similar as a kid but if you are looking for a special soup that you never had. This could fit the bill. we didn’t try anything else so i can’t speak to anything. That’s for another review.

Good and reasonably-priced food. The place is too dark for my own taste but I did like the food.

Feng Ling is a Chinese restaurant that offers a variety of foods that makes you leave the restaurant happy. The soups are decent and the starting snack is tasty. Although I don’t recommend the wonton soup because it tasted quite bland. The hot and sour soup is lovely and rich in flavor. The food is great depending on if you like eating Chinese food. I think you’re probably going to love it. I also like how super friendly the waitresses are. That’s just an addition. Happy eating :)

Order the sizzling rice soup. Just do it. If you like soup, you’ll LOOOOVE it! If you don’t like soup, there’s something wrong with you, but I do believe that this will win you over. It’s amazing. And not too many restaurants seem to offer sizzling rice soup on their menus here in Houston, it seems like. Their other food is good too, though some can be a little heavy/greasy. Lunch portions are huge, so come hungry. My team gets Feng Ling delivery anytime we want Chinese food, so I’ve never been to the actual restaurant. The delivery, however, is always on time or early, the driver is always incredibly friendly, and our orders have always been correct. Not much more you can ask for. Oh, wait, and no delivery fee. All in all, a great option!

My favorite Chinese fast food restaurant! This place is so delicious, ‘ve been going since I was a kid. The sizzling rice soup is awesome and can fill up three. The Mongolian beef is my fav entrée. Everything is super affordable too.

I don’t normally feel compelled to write a review on Unilocal but I just got through eating their chow mein, beef fried rice, and spicy chicken with peanuts and I’ve gotta say it was the blandest Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Even the spicy chicken, which should have had even a mild kick, was bland and flavorless. This place was recommended to me by my neighbor and I seriously question her judgement now. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed and recommend to those who like flavor and have even the slightest exposure to good Chinese food avoid this place.

This is my favorite chinese restaurant in Houston. I’ve been eating here for years. The food is always good and the service is great as well. Family owned/run business and they couldn’t be any nicer. If you haven’t tried it, you need to. Highly recommended.

Just came here last night after getting cabin fever from staying in sick. While I love not working, there were only so many episodes of Big Bang Theory and NCIS to catch up on. Also, there was only so much jook I could eat. What next? Get some other comfort food! So I ran down here for dinner. They have a decent lunch menu, but the coolest thing is that after 4pm, you can pay an extra $ 2 and still order from it! SCORE! So, I was feeling ambitious and also wanting leftovers. I ordered a regular sized soup, and then got the«lunch» special(egg roll, fried or steamed rice, entry, cup of soup). Soup is good when you’re sick, FYI. — Egg drop soup — Decidedly flavorless. Would order a different soup(hot and sour or wontop) with the special next time. — Egg roll — I liked it, but I notice there were no mushrooms. For me this is a plus, for you, this might be a negative. — Sizzling rice soup — DELISH! Tasted just like the ones I had from home. Bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, carrots, snow peas, beef, chicken, shrimp. OMNOMNOM! So good for my cold! — Sesame chicken — Very good, very sweet. Comes with lots of sauce in case you order steamed rice. Overall, I would come here again, especially since my mom isn’t out here to cook for me when I’m sick. Oh wait, did I say that out loud? Accepts: Visa, MC, AmEx, Discover

I visit this place regularly and find it to be authentic Chinese Food. Quick and nice service. Sufficiently large quantities. Try Chicken noodle soup. Best part is that they allow you to change the dishes from the menu with respect to the meat/vegetables etc as you would prefer. Worth Regular visits.

If you’re in the mood for freshly cooked Chinese food, this is your place. Granted, all Americanized«Chinese» food entails lots of oil and grease. This isn’t your typical Panda Express or mall Chinese menu. Their a la carte menu is huge in food volume. You may want to share. They have white meat chicken and tender beef servings. Not the dark meat(unknown) parts that some places serve. The vegetables are crisp, fresh, and abundant. Just ask for«light on the sauce» when ordering and you will save yourself some of the guilt and calories.

If I could eat the same food for the rest of my life it would be Chinese. Feng Ling has some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Must haves when you come to Feng Ling include steamed pork dumplings(the best in town), hot and sour soup, and spicy chicken with peanuts. You can get all of this for about $ 12. The restaurant itself is not fancy at all, you could go in your pajamas. They do not have alcohol but you can bring your own.

Wow review 10 for this place, I never heard of it till I started work at «Company». My office mate Orders here every single day, no joke. I can only write about the take out, they could drive here blind. I dont even know what the place looks like.(someone take a photo) This Chinese fare is so very average. Not alot of flavor in the lunch meals. Some times dishes appear fresh and sometmes old. That is why I like General Joes, made to order no heat lamps. The hot n sour soup is good as mentioned in previous posts. I found the pork ribs soso to good. The Sesame’ chicken I had friday,(too hot to go out for lunch) was cross contaminated with what I believe is Peppa steak, it was awful. Not much else to say about it, its edible, for a decent price and they deliver.

Well, this was the fall back for the Unilocal lunch bunch the other day, because the original spot was closed. We could see it on the horizon as we were disoriented in front of our original lunch bunch location looking for Ashton Kutcher, because surely the Unilocal Lunch Bunch was being Punk’d. This was our next option, since it was just down the shopping center. It had the lay out of your typical hole in the wall strip center Chinese food restaurant in Houston. We took one of the round sticky tables. The menu was your typical ho-hum food you might find in any one of these establishments around town. Maybe it’s our fault as Americans, you know because everything these days is our fault, but I have always felt that Chinese restaurants got a bum rap because people expect the menu and food to look a certain way. The lunch combos 1 – 50 and it comes with your choice of soup, white or fried rice and of course the obligatory fried egg roll… BORING! Is it just me, or does it seem as though they all get there food from a centrally located Chinese commissary kitchen? I ordered the wonton soup, it was very bland. I don’t think there was enough soy sauce or chili paste to save this soup. My lunch plate consisted of General Tso Crispy Chicken and the fried rice. It was just very typical and not spicy enough. Oh… and how can I forget about the fortune cookie that comes with the bill. I thought the service was very good and attentive. The price point I also thought was good. If you can get away spending less that $ 10 for lunch, then things are good in the universe. The Unilocal company, as always made this lunch great. Thank you guys.

I’ve found my dining room table. Oh, it has a nasty layer of oil and dirt and yes, it is sticky, but it was really cool and very kitschy. It just needs some Murphey’s oil soap and some love, and no more soap and water. Yes, I’m referring to the«sticky» table at the impromtu UYE. In a former life it must have been a nice lacquer-topped round dining table with a Lazy Susan in the center(also lacquered). The sticky was oil, soap, and dirt. Not so yummy to touch before eating a plate full of food, and you definitely don’t want to accidentally drop your spoon or fork onto it’s surface. The food isn’t anywhere near as bad as a «Dollar a scoop» type of place, but it is what you’d expect for a Chinese restaurant a la the Midwest in 1958. Full of MSG. No chopsticks or soup spoons. Lunch came with soup and an egg roll. I got the shrimp with broccoli with the hot and sour soup. Eh. The shrimp was of the pre-frozen variety, but not terribly rubbery. The broccoli was chopped(Dana Carvey) into bite-sized pieces. The soup was sodium city, but actually pretty good. I kind of wish I’d just finished that off for lunch. I was apparently the only person who ordered white rice; fried rice is the default. The menu lists the options of white or fried, but I believe they just assume«1958 Midwest,» and we must all want fried rice. This created a bit of confusion upon bringing our main dishes and I thought for a moment that the server was going to grab Danielle’s plate back from her and hand it to me, but she may have just been staring at it confusedly. She apologized and quickly brought my correct order.

Stopped by this joint when our original location for the Mystery Lunch Bunch fell through – sssh! It’s(still) a secret. Our group of eight Unilocalers descended on this tiny place and quickly overwhelmed the staff, though we were seated pretty quickly in the obligatory round corner table complete with lazy susan on top. I should’ve taken it as an omen that I could see straight into the kitchen from the front door, and what was visible was frightening. I should’ve also taken a hint when I put my hands down on the table and it was dutifully sticky. Pros: the lunch menu is appropriately cheap, with combos ranging from $ 5 – 7. You get your choice of main dish, wonton, hot and sour or egg drop soup, egg roll or crab puff, and fried rice or steamed rice. The cons: everything else. First up was the wonton soup. I’ve had some REALLY outstanding wonton soups in my day – the one at Hunan’s comes to mind. Theirs is flavorful, with strips of pork, firm wontons and fresh cabbage swimming in the broth. Feng Ling’s is so salty I swear I could feel the grit of the salt against my teeth, complete with gummy wontons. The egg roll tasted like dry, fried… stuff. I could taste neither meat nor vegetables when I bit into it. Some gray matter I spied inside seemed to signify«meat», though it’d have to spell it out in semaphore for me to believe it. The main dish was better, as the shrimp tasted like shrimp and the broccoli tasted like broccoli. This is about as complimentary as I get. There was a mix-up between my lunch and Gretchen’s – we both had the same dish, but I had mine with fried rice and Gretchen had hers with steamed. I got the steamed rice, thought they’d just made a mistake, and tucked into it anyway. When they gave Gretchen the fried rice, I realized I’d made a mistake and said I got hers instead. At first the waitress looked like she was just going to grab my half-eaten plate and give it to Gretchen, but I guess she thought better of it, because she brought a new plate over quickly. I was not impressed. As in really, really, really unimpressed. Hole in the wall Chinese places are plentiful, and with a city as diverse as Houston, there are much better places to get your Chinese on – and with tables that aren’t as sticky. Eeew. I think I can still feel the grossness on my fingertips.
