These were pretty great tacos. I regret not ordering some plantains, but will when I return. I loved that I had the option for wheat tortillas. I got chicken fajita for my little ones and shrimp as well as carnita for myself. All the meat was tender and the salsa Verde was great with a good bit of spice. My other son got a chicken quesadilla and devoured it so I didn’t get to try it, but I’d say that’s testament to how good it is, as he’s very picky. Only downside is that they were so expensive as far as tacos go. That’s the chain life, though. Plus they have a drive thru. I’ll be back for sure.

I friggin love this place! I’ve come here every other day for a whole week now. The beef Cuban tacos are the shiz. Skip the al pastor or chicken they were blah. Love the plaintains! The lemonade is really limeade false advertising but still good but it has a little Limey bitter aftertaste. The service is good too. I will miss this place!

I thought the ideal of having a drive thru window was for people in a hurry or don’t want to get out of the car. Well today I ordered 2 fajita tacos which are always good but I sat in the drive thru line for 12 minutes(no exaggeration) for 2 tacos. Come on man, I know your food is decent but seriously that’s a long time to wait for a small order with only one car in front of me. I’ll keep coming back but try and work on the speed.

Ordered breakfast burrito and two bacon egg and cheese tacos. I’m no food critic but man this food had no flavor. The tortillas were like old cardboard, the bacon was dry, and the eggs had no flavor. I liked up taquieria on Unilocal and toys was closest, but man this isn’t a taqueria. It is a hipster/new wave mexican/Cuban fusion place. Don’t mistake it for a traditional taqueria. Disappointed

I really like this location. The staff is a lot nicer than any other locations they have in town. And the food is always in a good standard.

Bruh… Exactly why I’m going to leave a review on here like I’m seeing a few other put on here… The Cuban Tacos! Not to be confused with ‘taco’ when you are in Cuba. Its different because of the ingredients(not going to tell you, go eat one) they put in it so its unlike a taco you ever had before. At least for me it seemed like. The Tortas are good too. It’s a pretty fresh place and of course more expensive than the ma and pa kitchens around houston but opens early and stays open pretty late so I like that. Some locations around houston but I have only been to this one. The drive thru is clutch too.

Absolutely amazing place! Great food. But even better was that after a mishap(my fault) that left my yet untouched food on the floor they remade everything for me without charge! This is how things are supposed to be in this world. Thank you El Ray!

I come here for the Cuban style tacos. Why have I never thought to put plantains on tacos before? It’s a beautifully dangerous feeling to have El Rey less than 10 minutes away. My husband and I try not to come here every week but sometimes you need great tacos. Note: This is for carryout or drive thru orders only.

This place has really stepped up! I see their manager, Francisco, work very hard to keep this place as good as the Shepherd location. From the first time they opened to now, their food has improved drastically! Great lunch place! Always people there now.

I stop by this location at least once a week and have never had a problem with their service or food until today. I ordered the Mexican egg taco on wheat with egg whites and add ham. When I got to work I opened up my taco and found it drenched from all the ham grease! What is up with that? Why would they not realize that it is now inedible. I love their tacos, but don’t add ham unless you only want to look at the taco instead of eating it. I uploaded a picture of it.

I absolutely love El Rey tacos, especially the fish and fajita tacos! However, today, I had little bits of glass in my fajita taco(I wish I had taken a picture before returning it). Also, they didn’t offer any apologies. therefore, sadly, I’m going to give this location less than 5 stars

We used their drive thru and it is very quick /fast for us considering it was in the middle of a huge shopping day Christmas Eve ! They had our food ready in less than 3 min that’s great … You can tell they put a lot of love in their food one very happy customer

This is a nicer and newer location than the one on Washington Ave. Parking is definitely not an as big of an issue as it’s locating in a big shopping center, but the food is consisently good to their other location. I call ahead on my way home from a late night at work and order their enchilada dinner… sometimes with tres leches for dessert. It’s pretty fast service with a drive-thru but why wait 5 – 10 minutes when it can be ready for pick up on arrival? I recommend going to this location if you’re in the area.

The food is tasty but make sure and check your order before you leave the drive thru. I was shorted a taco and didnt realize it until I made it home. Not worth the 20 minute drive back up to the restaurant, so now I’m just tacoless and sad :-(

Like This place the guacamole was really fresh. The shrimp tacos and chicken quesadilla was great! I just think they need to get better on their costumer service and provide a kids menu.

Cuban-Mexican fusion… delicious! I ate here for lunch and was surprised to see such a big menu. Most plates run between $ 7-$ 9 dollars. Portions are good sized but not overwhelming and the food is fresh. I enjoyed Ropa Vieja tacos with a cup of black beans. I recommend choosing the homemade limeade as a refreshing departure from traditional lemonade. This location also has a drive thru for customers on the go.

I had a beef quesadilla and a flan. The flan was good, but not one of the best. It just seemed a bit less bitter than I like it, also the caramel seemed much less than I like. The quesadilla was a disaster. Beef and cheese were both sparingly used, so much so that at times I was chewing through a plain tortilla without beef or cheese. There are lots of better places than this. Never again!

This place is convenient for me but not my favorite latino food joint. I have had their havana plate, the pork chunks in a garlic sauce. I have tried the grilled chicken and beef tacos. Their havana plate is a major let down of cuban food. The grilled chicken is dry and lacks seasoning. Their beef tacos are pretty good though. When I go next time I don’t feel like cooking, beef fajita tacos it shall be. Tres leches is horrendous.
