Dirty room, fairly disgusting actually. Almost gave it two stars for the fairly comfortable bed, but the soap scum on the shower basin and the nasty smudges on the windows convinced me otherwise. Would have gone one and a half stars if that was an option, but two stars seems excessive.

Texas-sized cockroach found on the wall above the headboard on the bed. My wife and I left as soon as we found it. Front desk said it came from outside and probably wasn’t a cockroach. I am no Orkin man, but I also have Wikipedia images, and its pretty easily identifiable as «American Cockroach». Still on hold with Choice Rewards trying to get my rewards points back… over 30 minutes now

Soooooo ok. I wanted to really like this place. It looked nice, it smelled nice, the staff was nice BUT when I usually travel I ALWAYS check the mattress for bed bugs and ummmm on the bright side there was NOT any bed bugs but there was some nasty stuff going on the mattress. It was like some reddish, mildew brown crap all over it and it was HORRIBLE! I wish I would’ve gotten a photo of it but I was scared to look at it again. Anyway I don’t know if it was all the rooms or just mine but the one star is from my personal experience.

I’ve stayed nearby before the night before a morning flight out of Hobby, but this time, Econo Lodge was offering a supercheap rate that was impossible to pass up. The room itself was great — big king bed, a dining table and chairs, desk, and a fridge/microwave combo that would make it comfortable for a longer stay. The wireless worked well. It’s very clean and well maintained and the people at the front desk were friendly and efficient. On the down side, though, the room was painted a garish lime green, the«breakfast» is cold cereal, toast or some packaged supersweet rolls, a «juice» dispenser and an instant«cappucino» machine.(The place nearby served a hot breakfast with eggs, sausage and all kinds of options.) The other big problem is that they don’t have a shuttle to the airport, so I had to order a cab. They handled it for me, very efficiently — except the cab didn’t show up on time. We called repeatedly, and 20 minutes late, after I had a rather pointed conversation with their dispatcher who kept telling me their cab was almost there, a junker of an independent taxi showed up. In the future, I think I’ll book the other place I like, and the money I save from cab fare and needing to eat when I get to the airport will make up the extra cost. But if breakfast isn’t important, and you have your own car, and don’t mind garish green walls, this place is a solid and inexpensive alternative.

So much better than my last Econo Lodge experience. Clean, comfortable, quiet, updated room; the only dated elements were the shower/tub and the TV. I would definitely stay here again. I didn’t have a chance to check out the complimentary breakfast, but there was actual space set aside for it which is always a good sign. The pool was enticing & the free wi-fi was functional.
