This is the Joffery Baratheon of dumpling kings. I’d give this zero stars if I could. Ordered wonton soup and assorted dumplings, my girlfriend had scallion pancakes and steamed«pork purses» which I’m assuming we’re supposed to be soup dumplings. The wonton soups were more wonton wrapper or dough than soup. There’s is a penny sized meatball some where in there and they throw in some cabbage? The pan fried assorted dumplings were, I’m at least 80% sure we’re just reheated dumplings, terrible at its best. The texture was slimy, it had small segments of rice vermicelli(?) And a ton of ginger. The scallion pancakes were like an African Savannah. Dry, course and sometimes it will bless you with some green. The soup dumplings contained no soup. Overall I wouldn’t wish this meal on my worst enemy. Save yourself. Lucky for you not all men must dine here

I enjoyed the assorted dumplings and the variety of sauces on the table. Service was fast despite it getting busy.

Great value and very good food. Husband and I have been checking Unilocal for 4 star restaurants, wherever we happen to be. Gets us out of food ruts. Husband had General Zou chicken and I had Gong bao chicken and shrimp. Both came with soup, egg roll, and rice. Very tasty. $ 17 for both of us. Employees very friendly. Restaurant was clean.

Reliably delicious! In all the times I have been to the Dumpling King the dining experience has always been good. There is a good selection on the menu but the real reason to go there is for the dumplings. Steamed or pan fried… Mix your own sauce… It’s the Dumpling King so focus on the dumplings! The price is right, the food is excellent. This is a 5 star review for the restaurant but one star is lost due to very limited parking. It can sometimes be a hassle.

They said the dumplings and green onion pancakes were great. They were right. Nice little place with friendly service. We had the green onion pancake and an assortment of pan fried dumplings. Also wonton soup and egg drop soup. All very good. And extremely inexpensive for lunch.

This place is awesome! I don’t know why it has a lower rating. Hole in the wall, cheap if you order right. Very authentic. You gotta have try the chicken and chive dumpling. Really good. They hand make all their dumplings and steam it so this place is relatively* healthy. Also, their green jalapeño sauce on the side is fresh and tasty with the dumplings.

Food is good, but service sucks. It took nearly 30 minutes for us to get our check. If you’re looking to take a quick lunch, this wouldn’t be the place. But on the good side. the dumplings and food are delicious. The pancake is pretty good when you make your soy sauce dip with the minced jalapeños and garlic. It’s a small hole in the wall restaurant, that will surprise you with good Chinese food. I will definitely come back and try it again when it’s not so busy, like at a pre dinner time or post lunch time. There parking lot is small but there is parking in the back as well.

I’ve been going to this place for many years and continue to enjoy my time here. My family and I always order C1 and C4. Throughout the years, the size and price has changed which is understandable due to the fluctuating economy. I love how their dumpling skin is not so thick and dough-y, and the size is good enough for me to take one full bite(haha). I always mix soy sauce, green pepper, and sesame oil to eat with my dumplings. Perfect combination! I will be continue to come here as long as I live here in Houston.

Simply the best dumplings on both sides of the Mississippi. You’re a fool if you don’t eat here. I have been coming here for twenty years. I’m convinced when I introduced this place to my wife she left the restaurant loving me just a little bit more. We took our first born here when he was only nine days old because we wanted him to know, just know. We just finished off 50 dumplings helped by my oldest, now 11, his little sister, and my wife, who still loves me thanks in part to Dumpling King.

Four stars for delicious food, clean quiet café, clean bathrooms too, accommodating staff who answer all questions, quick service, no order mistakes. We were seated immediately once we made it in from the small cigar-smokey parking lot(from the cigar bar next door) We started with green onion pancakes– basically a quesadilla with green onion. You out a jalapeño and ginger mix on it that they bring to the table in two containers. Yum! The steamed and panfried dumplings were yummy. We got an assortment, I enjoyed the chicken most. You dip this in a mixture you make. Just mix the ginger, jalapeño, vinegar, sesame oil, and optional soy sauce on. Ask a server if you aren’t sure. We also got hot and sour soup, it was pretty standard, warmed is up in the cold atmosphere.(Wear a coat, ladies) Our last dish was sesame chicken and steamed rice in case we didn’t like the dumplings, which we did. We left very full, and would definitely come back. All for less than 30 bucks!

Came into this small Mom & Pop’s shop looking for a quick lunch to grab with the wifey. They specialize in different types of dumplings which goes very well with their vinegar, minced ginger, and green pepper sauce.

Small, simple and quite delicious. Enjoyed steamed chicken and chive dumplings and an order of steamed pork dumplings. Both exactly what I hoped for and enjoyed them equally. I also liked the different options on the table allowing you to make your own dumpling sauces. Shared the vegetable noodle soup and didn’t expect for it to be as flavorful as it was and will keep it in mind for the next time a cold calls for a big bowl of hot yummy soup!

The Beijing style toasted shrimp was by far the best shrimp I’ve ever tasted. Along with their signature dumpling sauce. Definetly I would recommend getting the panfried chickens&chives and steam pork&shrimp.

We used to come here every week. Nowadays its simply too far from the village. However, we miss the chicken and chives dumplings and the green onion pancakes. Older couple runs and cooks here. Please be patient as they sometimes only have one other waitress but the food is cheap and delicious.

I have been coming here for 20 years and this place has not changed their menu since. I have tried numerous dishes here but the ones that I always order are the steamed vegetable dumplings, green onion pancake, hot and sour soup, and my favorite the vegetable egg-roll. The dumplings are probably the best I have had in Houston. The skin is very thin and has just the right amount of filling. The hot and sour soup is a hit or miss but I still go for it especially if its a cold day. You add a little of the finely chopped green peppers and it adds the perfect amount of heat. The green onion pancake is the best thing ever. It is crispy on the edges and a little chewy in the center. Dip it into their homemade sweet and sour sauce and its perfection!!! The vegetable eggrolls are addicting. I start with one and end up eating three. Yes I know this is a terrible habit but I can’t help it. They have a very crispy skin with perfectly seasoned filling. The best part is they are never grease filled like other restaurants. Service might be a tad bit poor but it is a hole in the wall mom and pop run place and these guys barely speak english so it is expected.

Authentic dumplings and a variety of them at that. The«purse» dumplings are filled with meat and broth. These soup dumplings are delicate and delicious. The special fried rice is scant on shrimp, but is otherwise OK. There’s a wide variety on the menu including many noodle dishes, soups, and the usual Chinese menu entries, but since the place is named Dumpling King, you stand to benefit from ordering dumplings. Recommended dumplings: pan fried pork, steamed shrimp & pork, pork purse.

If you want dumplings, then this is a treasure. I first discovered this place over 10 years ago, & I truly love coming back when I’m on this part of town. Tonight was no different. I ordered the steamed chicken dumplings and the 10 pieces of assorted dumplings. The dumplings were perfect with the proper amount of stuffing vs noodle. what I love most about this place is that you can make your own dumpling sauce. I started off with the finely chopped jalapeño and added the grated ginger. I pile these ingredients on the side of the plate and then I add the vinegar, soy sauce and oil so that it drizzles through the pile. I didn’t take my floor and press the hard ingredients to extract all of the flavor. So much fun! Tonight, I ordered the«shredded» eggplant and vegetables. It was starred, but I did not want it spicy so I asked for the mild version. The succulent eggplants were sliced in about 1 inch strips was quite tasty and not oily. I would recommend this plate. We also ordered the chicken and vegetable which came out as expected, but maybe was a little too salty for my taste. No one else complained though. The atmosphere was quite casual and more of a café environment that was quite outdated. Nevertheless, I’m giving this place 5 stars because for the price, these dumplings were fantastic as well as the eggplant dish. Just goes to show that you cannot judge a book by its cover.

The lot is pretty small in this shopping strip so parking can be a hassle. The establishment looked a little old but the interior was in good condition. Walking in, we were greeted and seated quickly. The place was pretty calm and quiet. I noticed there were only two tables occupied. The menu offers different types of dumplings. Unfortunately they do not serve soup dumplings. They make their dumplings from scratch and you can tell from the dough of the dumplings. Dumplings with vegetables(3⁄5): Average vegetable dumplings served hot and fresh. I have to say it was a bit bland but with the condiments at the table they were edible. Dumplings with vegetables and chives(4⁄5): I enjoyed these dumplings a lot more than the plain vegetable dumplings. The chives gave it some flavor. At the table you will find ginger, jalapeño, soy sauce, vinegar, and hot oil. You can request for the hot chili sauce if you don’t like the spicy oil at the table. Lao mein lunch special(4⁄5): This dish was very cheap for a lunch special and it came with a lot of noodles. Served with soup, egg roll, and pickled cabbage on the side. The picked cabbage was fresh and crunchy. Overall, this is a great place for lunch. I can’t say I would be back soon but maybe when I’m in the area.

Good dumplings. Not as thin and delicate as the best I’ve had. And the pan-fried could have been a little crispier. But generally speaking, good flavor and good value. They were especially good when I realized they were a little bland and doused them in chili sauce and soy. The lot is small, but there’s ample additional parking in the back.
