Darque Tan

Just recently moved into the area and this was the closet tanning salon. The guy working the front counter was very helpful and sweet, not to mention how clean and great the store looked. Great first time visit.

I was out of town and this isn’t my usual location. The girls were nice enough but it wasn’t the cleanest Darque Tan I have been to but I think it may have been because it was an older store. However did have a faint smell of urine,
I used the Versa Spa and it was definitely an older version. This place needs a makeover asap.

Darquechild, the producer, goes tanning here. Actually, that makes no sense at all. But if you want to be Dark, and to spell your name in French-​ish (Darque), then this is the salon to go to.
Why review a tanning salon for review #2015? I dunno, maybe I’m over the whole «let’s do a review that is really significant for this year» concept. Or maybe I secretly have an obsession with tans and tanning or something weird and bizarre like that. Wouldn’t that be weird?
I haven’t tanned here, but I’ve taken one of my best friends here tanning here many times, and will do so many more times in the future, I’m sure. The employees are lovely, the clientele are lovely (in every way), and the products make my friend look even more lovely that she already does, which is pretty lovely to begin with. In fact I have to say I think this place gave her the best tan I’ve ever seen on anyone, ever, so I have to give it 5 stars for that. I like hanging out here while she’s in there, I dunno why. I’ve seen a few other guys do that in the past, maybe it’s «a thing», or maybe I’m just weird. I don’t think I’ll ever start tanning though, because I get so dark so quickly just from being out in the sun for 3 mins or so. I do love being dark though. On the inside and outside, mwahaha.
But yes… competitively priced… amazing results… lovely employees… and they consistently give the best tan I’ve ever seen to my dearest friend. So yay for DT.
Speaking of DT, I have a D and you have Ts. So let’s order take out. Or would you rather we eat out. Nm. I already know the answer. I prefer the same. Let’s go.

Great location! Haven’t been to the others, but this could definitely be my spot of choice. It was my first time getting sprayed here, and Kristin was great! Explained package options, explained how to use the booth, and was very accommodating. The tan was quick and easy and I was on my way. I’m light skinned so I went with the lighter option, and will definitely have to try the darker next time. I’ll be back!

I have been here tons of times. All of the staff has always been super nice (unlike some of the customers I have seen here, but I don’t fault them for rude customers). I only do sunless tanning now, and this place has my favorite Versa Spa machine (and sometimes there’s a wait for it because it’s so popular). I wish this place had 2 Versas because it’s a busy location. I have only done the Mystic once, and I will never do it again because I felt like I was drowning in a hurricane at sea. I’m a die-​hard Versa fan for life! And there’s a new Teahouse next to this salon now, so you should definitely go there!

If I could give this place a zero, I would. I went to tan there one time and will NEVER return.
The staff are liars and thieves.
The staff working there (the lady who cleans the room) was complete trash and stole my school ring. I tanned and walked to my car and immediately turned around realizing I left my ring on the small table. The lady who cleaned the room (talks like she’s from New Jersey) claimed there was nothing there. I know 100% that my ring was on the small table in the tanning room and it was stolen.
I filed a police report on spot but obviously there wasn’t much they could do without a warrant. Further more, while I’m standing there, the lady goes «is she going to add a bad review like the last one?» So apparently this has happened more than once! And the company sticks up for her… Which is horrifying.
If you care about your items or would like to fight immorality, have a sense of moral obligation and never give this location any service!
Now I am by no means saying darque tan as a whole is a bad business — but the staff and management at this location was terrible! Everyone should AVOID at all costs.

If the girl working the counter wasn’t 22 years old, I would seriously offer her a job as a recruiter. She is a hustler sales chick, and EVERY single time I walk in here, she gives a pretty darn good pitch on lotions, potions, and tanning packages. Being in sales, I get it. Girl’s gotta pay the bills, right?
This Darque Tan location is always SUPER clean, and for the $ 88.00 a month you get UNLIMITED tanning (all levels) and UNLIMITED mystic and spray tans. Yes, its a bit pricey, but it’s the price of not looking like Powder. The spray tan unlimited is around $ 60 a month, which is a deal even if you do it 2X a month, one spray tan will run you $ 40 a piece anywhere. The Versa is the best, and will give you the most overall spray without looking like a Oompa Loompa. Sign up for their email/​text list, and you get a ton of promotions like buy one get one, and $ 5 lotion sample sales. They are open late, and usually have beds available. They also do a lot of good groupons for their spray tans. The reason why no 5 stars? Once when I went in there, some chick was in her pajamas. I’m not kidding. While I understand the need to party your face off from time to time, put a pair of pans on please.

This place is always clean, the people who work here are knowledgeable, and its freezing cold which is awesome! I never have to wait for a bed its in a good location (especially since I live downtown and I refuse to go the one on Louisiana). I have not gotten the spray tan here yet, but the regular beds are great and you have a lot of options! They are pretty pricey, but you get a lot for your $$.

I chose this Darque Tan because it was the closest to me… no Darque Tans in the Heights area… go figure.
I have recently moved to The Heights and needed to transfer my memebership. The guy working the counter was very friendly and helpful and did my transfer without incident or making «sucks to be here» faces…
I enjoyed this place because the guy really made me feel welcome. I wish I had his name. He was sweet and told me how to operate the beds because where I was going before it was a little different. The place was clean as any DT I have ever been to… very clean and smells like tanning products and the like. I recommend this place… it’s on the corner of Memorial and Birdsall, close to Rice Military, River Oaks, Washington Corridor, etc…

Okay, finding things in H-​town is a pain in the ass because there are not enough Unilocalers! Ok — vented, now I am over it.
I chose this Darque Tan salon because it is right on my way home, and beside the dry cleaner I use. After browsing their website, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I am not a fan of membership fees, but they seem to be the reality in many places. I sucked it up, and joined for 24 a month (one salon). When you join, you get half off any package. I paid 100 for the 200, since I am not sure how long I’ll be in Houston. Not including monthly, that is about 8 bucks a tan (for 25) which isn’t that bad.
Overall, they were helpful, nice and not pushy. Would recommend.
