I have been to Corner Bakery a few times. The food is okay, but nothing special. Today I ordered chicken Tortilla soup. When it was brought out, it was more like chili. I wanted to make sure it was my the wrong soup. The manager said it was ground beef in chicken tortilla soup. there was no chicken in it! I asked why they would let anyone think they were ordering chicken tortilla soup when it is actually a taco soup. He shrugged his shoulders and asked if I wanted something else. I asked for chicken noodle. He gave me a bowl of chicken broth with a couple of noodles and a few pieces of chicken! Never going back!

Are you guys in business to charge people for a meal and only give them a portion of it? Every time I do an order over the phone and send someone to pick it up for me something is missing from the order. Usually it’s the juice that goes with the kids meal and today it was the chips. I’m not going to drive all the way back just to get a bag of chips or the juice. It’s ridiculous.

I haven’t tried the food here, but I had the frappé… Me and my friend wanted to try something new for our regular starbucks frappuccino so we went here. The place is just next to starbucks and it looks pretty decent outside. They have a very good interior design but covered with all the food crumbs and the tables are sticky. The drink that we got is super sweet we couldn’t even finish it because it’s like drinking liquid sugar. The cashier who made our drink was giving us the bitch stare while we were deciding to get what we wanted. To rate if i am coming back or refer it to a friend is 3 out of 10. So definitely not going back!

Came here to grab some food for afternoon tea, and had the chocolate bundt cake and peanut butter whoopie pie. The bundt cake was delicious but the peanut butter whoopie pie was a little disappointing. There wasn’t much chocolate taste on the«pie» but the peanut butter cream was good.

Don’t know whether he was over-charging me on purpose or… but the guy at the cash register overcharged me by $ 3.25 on a pasta item — which involved taking off the chicken, pesto, breadcrumbs, etc. and was way more expensive than just sub-ing the sauce on a «plain» pasta dish. So 1 point taken off for that. Restaurant was dirty — sever tables sitting with dirty dishes uncleared and signs on some tables saying, «don’t sit here — leak.» Won’t be back anytime soon

This is a great casual spot for brunch. The food is always on point, but the price can be a bit high considering the potion size. If you have a sweet craving definitely check out their baked goods selection. Mmmmm, love the small chocolate bunt cake. So rich and creamy. Their cookies are pretty good, too.

I tried the«new» Cuban Press sandwich today. It had the standard ingredients of ham, pulled pork, swiss cheese, mustard on a roll and a pickle on the side. I was a little disappointed because there was hardly any meat(about what Subway would serve if they had this sandwich). I guess it does not surprise me as most of the items on the menu had the calories posted next to them. Nevertheless, if you were expecting an overstuffed Cuban sandwich, do not order this sandwich. I did opt for the Caesar salad upgrade for $ 1.49 instead of the chips. It was a good portion and was very good with lots of shredded Parmesan, but needless to say, I am still hungry. What a shame after spending $ 13 and change. Where should I go to eat the rest of my meal?

I come into Corner Bakery fairly often for lunch with coworkers and they are always quick and delicious! Even when there is a long line, it typically takes less than 10 minutes to get through to the front. I usually will get one of their hot sandwiches and have yet to be disappointed by one.

This was a referral by my fiancé. The choices were between a burger place or this place. This place looked healthier. Good choice. Eager, friendly staff were patient with me as I had never been here before. Good food.

Definitely a great lunch spot! I am currently working close to the Westheimer location so its easily accessible. It gets crowded but I found seating for me and a coworker easily. They have a great menu with plenty of tasty options to meet your deepest cravings. I had the half pomadori panini, bacon and tomato Mac and cheese, chips, and it came with a pickle. The panini was perfect! Just the perfect amount of crunch and flavor. The mac and cheese was just.wow. So creamy and tasty. I also got the mini chocolate cupcake and blueberry pastry which was so good. The desserts/baked goods look amazing and I can’t wait to try more items on the menu.

$ 8 for half a sandwich and cup of soup is a rip off. Think about it. That’s like paying $ 4 for each. The chicken salad had raisins which I don’t like. I want a plain chicken salad. The server brought me the food with no napkins. I had to ask him for some. The bean soup is delicious and I will give them credit for that.

Went back the other day. It was still good, but I wasn’t as impressed as the last time I went. Maybe it was an off-day for them.

Good place for a lunch break. I love that they have half sandwich/soup/salad combos. Everything I’ve eaten here is tasty. My favorite items are the chicken pomodoro panini, kale salad, tomato soup, avocado pico and quinoa. Order at the counter and the food is brought to the table you choose to sit at. Service is fast. Tables are clean.

So I stopped here for lunch with a friend. Walked in, looked at a menu(probably the to-go ones) and walked right up to the counter. We were taken care of and with kindness. Our food came out shortly after we sat down. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable — not too quiet, and not too loud. I had the chicken pomadoro panini, and it was DELISH. I also tried some of the hibiscus lemonade, and I am certainly glad that I did. It was yummy! When I walked up the counter to get a tp-go box, the cashier was very polite and friendly. I will be back!

Nice location, cozy and welcoming inside. The food is pretty good for the price you pay, although I’m sure they have the same cheddar broccoli soup as Panera Bread and charge more for it. The staff has never been a selling point for me. I’m only speaking for the time I came here: the cashiers looked like they didn’t want to be here and as though I was bothering them by placing my order. The two managers on duty seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. I over heard two different occasions where they were a bit short and rude to other paying customers. Not exactly my cup of tea, but then again they weren’t being rude to me.

I had seen this place multiple times during my visit to the eye doctor next door, but had reservations. Honestly, is it a café or a bakery? or is it more of a bakery than a café as the syntax of the name indicates(sorry I’m a word nerd so I get caught up in details like that)! To tell the truth, they’re more than a café and bakery – they’re just good and that’s the most important part! Think Jason’s Deli with swanky and sassy swag and you get CBC, which is much easier to say than Corner Bakery Café. Upon entering, the atmosphere is so soothing and calming. A warm palette of colors and low lighting gives it more of a romantic charm. There’s also a quant patio outside the restaurant, but the view faces busy traffic laden Westheimer, I guess if you want to people watch or talk on the phone while you dine, the patio is a perfect place for you. The menu has a lot of substance with sandwiches, soups, signature salads, and pastas. Shrimp can be added to some entrees with an upcharge, but the pricing for the quality and quantity of food you receive is substantial. CBC offers a soup and salad, pasta and salad, or sandwich with salad or soup special that humungous. I had so much food I knew I would be taking some home. BTW the chicken cabanara is delicious. I usually do not eat peas, but the sauce on the pasta was so good, I HAD to eat the peas! The side of garlic toast was a great compliment as well – not too hard, but not too soft. The mixed green salad was also very refreshing and light accented nicely with their special house dressing. All that food I just described only cost me 8 bucks. That’ worth about 3 stars right there. The fourth and fifth star goes to the atmosphere a detailing of the restaurant which includes a spacious dining area complete with booth seating as well as tables and chairs. The fountain area is well stocked with tea, a variety of sugar and sweeteners, and lemons to satisfy your taste buds, but the black straws and silverware just makes CBC a little more fancier than other delis and cafes. Did not visit the bathroom, but I guess I’ll check it out on my next visit. Very welcoming, not hassling you customer service. Server checked on me a couple of times to see if I needed anything. Very much enjoyed my dining experience here, and you will too.

The first Corner Bakery I ever visited was over 5 years ago in Atlanta, GA. It was walking distance from the hotel I was staying at and although a chain, a tasty little place. I remember wishing we had them in Texas or I at least knew where one was. A few years later they opened the location on the Southwest Freeway near Kirby and I was really happy. I like Corner Bakery so much I made sure to eat there on vacation in San Diego. This is my fourth Corner Bakery location and I am still really happy with it. This last trip I was with my Mom and sleeping baby. This is the Westheimer location near the beltway area. We ordered breakfast at the counter, and I placed a to go order for a lunch sandwich at the same time. I had the Farmer’s scramble with coffee, and Mom had another scramble with sweet tea. You place an order receive a number and find a seat. Drinks are self serve at the counter and they have four(three if you discount decaf which I firmly believe you should) coffee varieties to choose from. The sweet tea was a little sweet for Mom’s taste but she cut it with unsweetened and was happy. Our meal was brought out by the most polite gentleman and everything was really tasty. It’s simple food but it tastes less greasy than say Denny’s or IHOP and price is pretty similar. But you can also substitute a fruit cup instead of potatoes for no upcharge. The scrambles come with the egg portion, potatoes or fruit cup, and a really yummy(whole grain?)Toast. My sandwich arrived at the same time ready to go. As we sat and talked I kept looking at the dessert display so ventured back up to the counter for the pumpkin/gingerbread mini bundt cake. It’s very rich but so soft and delicious. The décor is warm, the staff is friendly, the food is good. A few hours later I ate my sandwich at lunch and was so happy that I had chosen the pretzel bread. It was covered in that thick pretzel salt and kind of like a french bread or baguette style bread. My sandwich was amazing.

Yay redemption! So I’ve visited the corner bakery a few times in the past few weeks but was disappointed by their coffee. Ambience is rustic without being cliché frenchey. Definitely hustling and bustling at lunch time. Today they made my day. A delicious chicken Pomodori Panini was exactly what I needed. Perfectly grilled sourdough with fresh spinach and deliciously roasted tomatoes with grilled chicken breast layered nicely with provolone cheese. So fresh! Now the latte. YESGOD, HONEY! Scorching hot, subtle vanilla flavor with two strong espresso shots. It was small, but exactly what I was craving!

Lentils! I’m a connoisseur of lentil soups, and this one is my hands down favorite. It’s even better if you get a Demi pretzel roll to dip in it. I wish they had the lentil soup every day. Rotating soup schedules at places like this big me. Yeah Panera, I’m lookin’ at you too. The hubby loves the Caesar salad and turkey sandwich that they put on the pretzel bun. I’ve also enjoyed the whoopie pie and brownie on occasion. The brownies are very dense and fudgey like a good brownie should be. The cookies are just so-so. I also love the coffee. They have a variety of roasts, and it’s WAY better than Starbucks. Bonus of refills while you’re there too. Seriously, the coffee is so good I drink it black. When shopping in River Oaks during the Christmas season I often make a pit stop to pick up a large coffee to go to keep in the car.

I ordered here for a team function we were having. They delivered on time and the food, coffee was fine. I have had to call FOUR times and ask that they email an invoice to me. Still no invoice. Which means I can’t expense it which means I won’t get reimbursed. So order here for business functions only if you are feeling really generous or need a new part time job of chasing down invoices.
