They are super sweet guys! But I just didn’t like the result… At all!
I asked to even everything out to be the same length; and he almost got it, but at the end he decided to add 90s Jennifer Anniston layers around my face! It’s been two months and I still hate having my hair down and seeing it in the mirror.
The highlights only covered the top half of my hair but not the bottom (the two stars I gave are for the quality of highlights — good product and didn’t fry my hair; they lost their stars on everything else mentioned)
Too expensive for the result I got. But they are very personable and sweet, so maybe is you don’t have a lot done or don’t mind the Jennifer Anniston look it’s a great place

Great client service and exactly what I wanted. I decided to stop in to Charlie’s Hair on a whim because of it’s convenience. Now I never want to go anywhere else. Very friendly, relaxed stylists who gave me exactly the cut that I wanted (and I am a picky person when it comes to my hair.)
Having extremely thick hair, I am always nervous about trusting the stylist to know what I mean when I want textured layers and need them to THIN my hair as much as possible. My stylist Chris did a perfect job and took his time to make sure I was happy with it. Great place hidden in the heart of Montrose. :)

We all know how traumatic it can be to try to find a new stylist, but after going to this salon for the first time yesterday, I was very impressed with the color and cut I got. Chris is the youngest member of the team, but he is very skilled. He took his time with both my color and cut to make sure we were communicating. I’m very pleased with the results and will definitely become a regular! Thanks Chris!

This salon, in one location or another, has been around for a LONG time… and that says something about the products and services they provide in an industry that is constantly revolving. Charlie and Eddie have been doing hair collectively for the last 35 – 40 years, and honestly, I’ve never gotten a better haircut or style anywhere else.
Charlie is an artist when it comes to creating a new look… so don’t be afraid to let him do what he thinks is best (he cut off 9 inches of my hair the first time he met me and gave me a look that my friends STILL tell me made me look like a model 20 years after he created it.
Eddie is a perfectionist in giving the perfect, precision cut (his own hair is crazy-​curly, so he knows a thing or two about cutting curly hair) but his real talent is in his ability to color hair… and I’ve seen a number of botched jobs from other salons that he’s fixed and made look like a million bucks.
Chris is the new «up and comer» in the salon, and knows more about the products and their uses being sold in the salon than anyone else. He is also full of ideas and suggestions about what works, so don’t be afraid to listen to what he has to offer… you will be pleasantly surprised.
There are a lot of salons in Houston… this is THE ONE that you’ll keep going back to.

NOT FOR CURLY HAIR
I walked in to Charlies on a Saturday afternoon feeling a bit scruffy since I was going to a party that nite. I did note really expect to get anyone to cut my hair, but what the heck, I thought I would try. Big mistake! I have long (about 10″) curly hair.
Anyway, Charlie told me to wait a couple of minutes, his nephew Chris would be back to cut my hair. Chris was very pleasant and spent a good bit of time working on the cut. At the end, he dried it straight to give me a «different look» and indeed, I got a favorable comment at the party. On reflection, the straight look was such a dramatic departure from my normal style, I suspect that comment was designed to mask shock. The friend who paid me the compliment always does her best to put everything in a positive light, and I love her for that. I think she may have had to swallow pretty hard on that one! Straightened, the hair looked okay as long as there was no wind or humidity. After dancing a bit it grew up on the sides like bozo the clown. Oh well. it was funny.
The next day I washed my hair and discovered that Chris had cut one side a good three inches shorter than the other. When the hair is curled, it is hard to tell, but still, it bugged the heck out of me. Chris also used a technique to blend the layers he cut into my hair. I’m told that is unnecessary in curly hair, and may have made it look frizzier, not a positive enhancement to my look, IMHO.
The atmosphere if the salon was pleasant, the people as nice as they could be, but my experience was pathetic. The other «artists» might be much better, and Chris might be amazing with straight hair, but for curly hair, just say no. I might have given this salon 2 stars because they are so nice, but I knocked a star off just for balance. 3 inches. Really? You can’t win them all.

I am sport clips guy and went here because of my wife. Wow, really impressed. Very personable individuals, doesn’t feel like an assembly line. They do a great job and ensure satisfaction. Chris is now my barber of choice.

Great group of guys — laid back but energetic, artistic and charismatic with an understanding of the best fit for healthy and stylish hair. I have recommended to many friends and they continue to go back. Great new product line that I have not seen anywhere else. This is a place where you can truly trust your hairstylist and know you will walk out with the best fit for a stylish new you!

Great experience. Don’t let the building’s exterior fool you. Inside is lovely and staff is wonderful. They were upfront about prices which were very reasonable. My friend and I got highlights from Eddie. He did a great job on both her platinum blonde and my darker light brunette. We didn’t feel rushed and were given spa-​like treatment. I would recommend. I’ve never known haircuts to make your hair seem thicker, but that is the miracle work that Eddie has achieved with my hair.
I’ve been going to Eddie for years, and even after I moved to Chicago and San Francisco, I still come back to him when I can to get my hair done. He’s meticulous and takes great care to give me an awesome hair cut every time, even though my haircut has been basically the same for more than 10 yrs. First he washes the hair and then cuts it like normal, but then he goes above and beyond. He then flat irons my hair and goes back and cuts it again to make sure that it’s super straight. By the time he’s done, my Asian hair is shiny, full of body, and precisely shaped.
It’s been more than a week after my last cut with him, which I got when I was back in Houston visiting my family, and for whatever reason, my hair feels even thicker than before. It looks healthy and shiny and has been very easy to style. The quality of hair cuts that I get from Eddie exceed what I’ve gotten in Chicago and San Francisco and from more expensive chi-​chi salons!

Excellent Hair Cut by all three. Friendly and professional. You will be very happy with a haircut by Liz, Eddie, or Charlie. I just moved to Houston and was worried about finding a great hair stylist. This is the place. I highly recommend Charlie’s!

If you are looking for a great haircut without all the business and product pushing of a normal salon, Charlie’s is your place. The clients are usually River Oaks elite, young Houstonians and a few famous faces. They will treat you like family and never rush you out of the place to get the next client in.
I recommend Liz, though Charlie and Eddie are great also.
