First time here and it was very good authentic food. Loved the gorditas with crispy shel and the cheese oozing out. Definitely a new hot spot for us. The restaurant is inside the grocery store to the left.

…just saved the price of an airline ticket to Mexico… It says Aguascaliente, but it is the flavors of so much of central and southern Mexico states… not TexMex.

Awesome gorditas and tacos. They have really good hot sauce in the red bottle! It gets a bit busy around lunch time but the wait is worth it. Been here twice and will be back again soon.

We were craving a dessert of sorts after lunch in the area and I said to my friend, what about a liquado? He said sure and I found this place on Unilocal since it had awesome reviews. Parking was tight and we finally found a spot across Broadway. I ordered a watermelon agua and he ordered a banana liquado. After sampling both, I thought this was one of the best, if not best, watermelon aguas I’ve ever had. My friend concurred with his liquado. What makes it so good? The water is thicker than most around Houston, with watermelon pulp, it’s sweet and the price is unbeatable. This is the real deal. The liquado was also thick and didn’t contain the frequently encountered ice chucks you find at some taquerias. We will be coming back soon to try their famous gorditas.

Gorditas de carne asada are the This is a place to come eat some fresh, fast and real Mexican food. I’m usually here about once or twice a week for the gorditas and tacos de trompo. If you want to add some spicyness add some of their red salsa, but be careful once you do it cause it will make you cry.

As others have said, this place is easy to miss because there’s a restaurant next to it which you could mistake. It’s a sharp left inside what looks from the outside like a supermarket. There’s a long counter facing the kitchen and grill. Very authentic Mexican food shown by the clientele. I was the only Anglo — which I mind not at all — and the order was made in my poor Spanish. Nonetheless, the food was superior. We had some tacos, tortas, and gorditas, which I didn’t even know. Best was the gorditas which is kind of like a soft, juicy sandwich. We tried al pastor, carne asada, and chicken. Chicken gorditas was amazing! If I’m ever in town again, this will be my first stop. Price was $ 17 for 3 tacos, a torta, a gordita, and 2 Mexican cokes.

This place is a must stop if you are on the South East side of town and want some mexican food from a Taqueria. Always fresh hot tacos.

This is my new favorite taqueria. Their tortas are made exactly how they should be and their tacos are amazing. Not to mention their prices are awesome. The barbacoa and al pastor tacos are delicious. Try the spicy red sauce — almost walked out with a 16 oz container of it but didn’t… and now I’m regretting it. Total dinner for 2 was $ 15 which was extremely filling. Only downside, as others have mentioned, is parking. Fortunately I found the last spot. Being crowded on a Tuesday evening shows just how delicious this place is. Can’t wait to try their other tacos!

Probably one of my favorite places to go eat! It’s so hard to choose which one is their best, their gorditas are to die for and you can’t ever go wrong with ordering a torta or tacos. Their gorditas are fresh off the grill you can actually see them make it because it’s an open kitchen. Aside for their delicious food the place is very clean all the staff is presentable. Could use a little work with their servers always a bit unorganized but honestly that has been the least of my concerns, because their food is that good. Expect big lines during lunch and dinner rush.

tl;dr You need these tacos The service was fast, the place was packed, the owner was super friendly and the meat was so fresh you’d think they had the animals out back. I’ve had tacos from many different places including authentic street tacos from Mexico City, if you’re looking for something fast and delicious, this is the place to go.

I do not want to mess up a good thing and give them their first bad review. They all work very hard and deserve a good reputation. I found this place through Unilocal!I love finding hole in the wall Mexican food and I had to try this one. The kitchen was moving fast. It wasn’t as busy as most say but I arrived with a friend at 8PM. Luckily for me he knew how to speak Spanish so he did all the ordering. It was both our first times there. The guy at the register taking orders can speak English but when you seat yourself the servers cannot. My friend got the chicarron gordita with cheese. I got a steak and a pastor taco. My friend said the gordita was very very good but the hype on Unilocal made it sound better. The tacos were delicious but nothing to rave about. I also had their lime water(agua fresca) but it was way too sugary for my taste. (Oh, quick tip. When you dine in they give you a number, when you’re finished eating you take that number to the register and pay there.) They have two different types of salsa, one is rojo and the other verde. They are both very good in their own ways. But the red salsa is much much spicier! My friend enjoyed the red salsa so much he ordered a large to go for about 9 $. This is where I would have given them 3 stars. When we got home we noticed the salsa she gave us was not the same as what we asked for. The salsa there was dark red and more watery. This salsa was chunky and light orange in color. The salsa also had an aroma of chicken fat/grease. Very confusing and suspect… We paid the same amount for the salsa as we did our food. But ended up throwing the salsa away.(Crowd chants… boooooo!)

Man o Man. visited this place for lunch today and lost my religion. First off any place where they like my spanglish is a plus and they just smiled like they knew what I was saying and for that I thank them. When you walk in go to your left. that is where the little counter/restaurant is located. Grab a seat and the waitress will come to you. I suggest you get the gorditas, they are soo good. I had the Carne and the Pollo. the Carne was better to me. Be warned that the lettuce, tomato and avocado were extra but worth it! They have aguas frescas and they are goooood! I ordered the Sandia(watermelon) it was so sweet and juicy like a real watermelon… then my friend leans over and says«it is real watermelon». whachale! Parking can be bananas, so be careful when pulling into the lot. For 2 gorditas, 1 Aguas Fresca and water I paid 10 bucks. Can’t wait to go back. I will be full for days.

I drove here by myself, the little Asian girl that I am. I’m from Houston and it was in what I would consider a sketchy neighborhood. I walked in and perused the aisles of the small grocery store before finally figuring out that the restaurant was on the far left side of the building. When I walked into the diner-looking area that only really had bar seating, everyone, I mean, EVERYONE turned and stared at me. It’s almost as if they’d never seen a Chinese person in their life. Which, I wouldn’t be surprised if they hadn’t. I ordered my food quickly to take with me, paid, and left after getting my order. The food was good. I think I’ll go back again when I want to be stared at by everyone once more. Good times.

Tacos, tortas, gorditas, and aguas frescas. If you’re the kind of person that likes to stop at taco trucks, visit roadside taquerias, or holla at the raspas man, this is your kinda place. Getting here? It’s right off 610/Broadway. Parking is always a challenge. Gringos? Aside from myself, not a one. For the most part eateries on the Southside and on the Eastside get no love. I’ve had the tortas and the gorditas. In my opinion, the gorditas are the star here. All the usual meats, chicharon, carne asada, pierna, al pastor, etc. The tortilla/gordita/flat bread is griddled nicely, and the queso blanco melts perfectly. Maybe could use a bit more spice for my taste. What made these last couple of trips interesting The tortas guy gets his Benihana on. Clangs, flips, a bit of juggling… he is seemingly doing it just for himself. No one was watching the show. My last trip there, a crew of six dressed in matador-esque costumes was there going jamon on the tacos. Turns out they were suited up for work. The manager took note of their uniforms, and asked where they worked. *insert name of very popular Tex Mex restaurant* Game recognized!
