Not camilles — it’s Corner Bakery Café. One star is for not being updated. Not the CS Bakery :)

The wraps here are really good, and the chips and salsa it comes with are better than that lousy excuse of a texmex restaurant Poblano’s next door. The Turkey Habenero is by far their best pannini choice. I also like some of the chicken wraps. The problem is, no one wants to pay twelve dollars for a healthy wrap with tea that doesn’t fill them up. Not only is your stomach still feeling empty, so now is your pocket book! If I’m going to pay that much, then I’d rather purchase a wrap with side of soup at Zaytonas. Camille’s soups are good, but they’re not as good.

I am so glad that this place is close by my office. With the surrounding options of Chinese food, Whataburger, and so many other unhealthy choices, I am glad that I can walk in here and get something that won’t want me craving an under desk nap an hour later. I’ve tried a few things on the menu so far. Some great, some not so great. I had a turkey habenero panini today and I thought it was awesome. The bread was super flavorful and soft, which I was not expecting with a grilled panini. I was pleasantly surprised. I opted for the combo and got a Caesar salad with it, which was a pretty basic Caesar. I’ve also had the tomato basil soup, which was excellent. In the past I tried a salad with a raspberry vinaigrette. I would not suggest trying it. It tasted like raspberry syrup, WAY too sweet. All in all I will continue to be a regular here simply because there are healthy options and it’s easy to walk to. It I had to get in the car and drive I would probably not come here. Sad but true.

I walk by Camille’s often and have always wondered why there is hardly anyone there while the nearby restaurants are always packed, so today I decided to give them a try. I ordered the Apple Walnut Tuna sandwich without tomatoes on rye. The sandwich was delivered as requested but it was definitely below my expectations. Taste-wise, it was a good sandwich, but there was maybe half scoop of the tuna salad — that barely covered the bread -, one leaf of lettuce, and ONE tiny slice of Swiss cheese… I know it is served with chips, but at $ 7 or so, I definitely expected more. I am hoping that this was just an exception.

Never busy which makes you wonder if the food is any good but I asked and they’ve been at this location for over 10 years so they’re doing something right to stay in business. Ordered the veggie wrap and side salad(NO, I’m not vegetarian) but nothing else on the menu seemed really health conscious. Veggie wrap was mediocre and TINY. Filled with rice and various veggies on a low carb tortilla, would not order again. The salad itself was ok but the dressing was TERRIBLE. They didn’t ask what type of dressing but just said«house salad» which came with the worst fake tasting raspberry vinaigrette I’ve ever had. Just disgusting, tasted like plastic. The friend I was with got a turkey panini of some kind and it looked good and she said it was pretty decent. Hers came with salsa and chips which she barely touched. She also tried a blueberry smoothie which she said was delish.

This place sort of defines what threesies is on the ranking system — it is not flat out shockingly OMG amazing. It is alright, it will do. I was thinking about going to twosies since it is not that great and I am a tough cookie as I review these things, however(a) this place is never that busy even at peak lunch hour rush of the lunch bunch and(b) this is a pretty unique idea to plant in downtown and I like that this option exists opposite Whataburger, so Camille herself kind of stands out there with her hands on her hips as you think about Whataburger, then she shakes her head and makes you feel bad about what you are about to put into your body, and then you sigh and walk over to Camille and place your order there. Yeah, Camille is like your mother telling you to eat healthier and commenting on how those pants are looking a bit snug and maybe you would have less trouble getting a date if you lost a few pounds. Camille is mean, minus one star! As Shell P. discusses below the«veganini» has eggplant, red peppers, and feta cheese. It is unique. Not the best eggplanty sandwich ever, that would be Capriotti’s back in Philadelphia, but it is mighty satisfying that you can tell yourself«I did not have a double bacon cheeseburger for lunch today» Like: calorie information online @ Dislike: veganini has 570 calories. REALLY!!! Really. Strawberry coconut smoothie(380 calories) — get this! Don’t eat anything. Drink your lunch! So much better than the nearby Smoothie Factory.

I love the wraps. The Mexican Daredevil and Michaelangelo are my favorites of what I’ve tried so far. I usually go for the hot wraps because they come with a small salad with a delicious raspberry dressing. All the other wraps come with chips and salsa and it costs extra to get the salad instead. The smoothies are ok. My lunch hour is at 1 and every time I’ve come here I did not have to wait a single second. While there may be people there already eating, there’s never anyone in line. Hooray for late lunches! Kudos: You can check the nutritional info on their website. I don’t come here as much as I’d like, but it’s always a treat when I do!

Ok, I went here once and have never been hungry enough to go back even though I pass right in front of it everyday I walk through the tunnels. I probably tried this when I just started working in the RRI building and wanted to see how the food there taste. I was bold enough to try to the buffalo chicken wrap which was wickedly spicy, a bit more than I expected and the wrap was a bit hard and stale to chew on and the chicken kept falling out.

I have a hard time coming here and getting anything other than the panini. The wraps are good, and the salads and other items look good, though I haven’t personally tried them. The«veganini» is a grilled sandwich(aka panino) with eggplant, red peppers, and feta cheese. Very tasty. Only minor complaint is that it comes with tortilla chips & salsa. They are good quality and tasty tortilla chips, but I’d prefer the regular ol’ potato variety. They also make smoothies and good desserts. Come here for some healthier, but still very tasty options.
