Best/Biggest catfish fillets in the city. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Order comes out in a very timely manner as well.

The food is good. My first experience wasn’t too great only because I ordered it on Unilocal through Eat 24. I arrived 20 minutes later, and they said they hadn’t started my order because Eat24 never called them. I had to wait another 15 minutes to get my food after they acted surprised that I had ordered. It was just annoying. The food is good though. They’ll get one more chance because of the food.

Great food and friendly staff! The Chicken and Sausage Gumbo and the Crawfish Poboy are delicious! Remember to get extra sauce. The sauce is addictive!

This place is amazing. There’s not a single thing on the menu that’s bad. The poboys are legit, and the gumbo will have you addicted after first spoonful. Granted they don’t have«real» beignets, which is kind of sad for a pretty authentic creole restaurant. They’re more like those fried biscuits you get with your Timmy Chans order drowned in powdered sugar but they’re still pretty tasty. It’s so good I won’t even take off a star for the lack of delicious beignets.

The po-boys are mmmm… Good !!! My boyfriend and I went and I’ve been craving to go again… My boyfriend who is from New Orleans was surprised to see Hispanics basically running this eatery, but nonetheless the place is still AWESOME !! I purchased an 11 inch shrimp po-boy combo and enjoyed immensely!!! I hate it’s so far from me, BUT, Calliope’s is definitely worth the trip !!!

The first time I ordered a roast beef po boy and it was delicious! However the second time I ordered the seafood platter, and it was not what I was expecting. The fries were really hard and they didn’t taste fresh unlike the first time I had them w my Po boy. In addition the piece of fish of my plate was just average. It was ok. I was expecting more consistency in the quality of the food.

Got the chicken and sausage gumbo which should be called hotdog gumbo. The chicken was nearly obsolete and the sausage tasted like hotdogs. Then when we went to find seating it seems like the workers don’t look at the tables. Majority of the tables were filthy. Would not recommend this place but was told by a local that Lotus which is not that far by car is always packed and has better food. FYI the local could not go there cause she does not have a car.

I’ve been twice so far and it was pretty good i’ve tried the shrimp basket and the shrimp poboy and will probably check them out again soon. Its a quick fix for cajun flavors until you can get back to New Orleans.

Being from New Orleans, I have searched all over Houston for the last 7 years for a po — boy like they make back home. Eureka!!! I found it here. The bread is what makes it true new orleans. Po-boy. It’s french bread not sub bread which is to much dough. This bread was lite with a nice crisp outer skin, with a light enter dough which allowed the full flavor of the shrimp and oyster to come though. Now if you want the full experience of new orleans, dress it with just butter, hot sauce, and pickle, with lemon. There you go heaven. The gumbo was excellent as well. Since I make my own gumbo, I am critical of others. This was the first place I had to keep my mouth shut, and enjoy, it was that good. I am a fan for life. Kudos to a place named after a uptown street and project in the 13th or 17th ward. uptown soldier reporting.

I’m in town visiting from San Antonio where we don’t nearly have the selection of Cajun restaurants found here in Houston. I ordered a small fried oyster po-boy, Cajun fries and strawberry lemonade. The bread is amazing! Honestly my sandwich only had five oysters on it but, they were full of enough flavor that it seemed like more. The addition of their spicy tartar sauce made it extra special. The fries were just your average seasoned skin on fries but good. I should’ve been more adventurous in my choice of sides. Overall, very, very good!

I’m not an expert on po’ boys or Cajun food, but I have tastebuds and some experience so my review is based solely on those qualifications. This is a neighborhood spot that seems to draw cross-town customers as well — every time I’ve gone inside rather than use the drive through(yes, they have a drive through!), I hear people chatting about how they come all the way over here for a taste of their native New Orleans. My favorite order is the boiled shrimp, which always seems to be a bargain at «market price,» which tends to be $ 10 for a pound. It has a nice balance of butter and spice, but if you are not a spice person it might be overwhelmingly hot. ‘ Honestly, I had never had a hot po’ boy before getting the roast beef with gravy here, so I don’t have much to compare it with but I LOVE their hot roast beef po’ boy with gravy! It has a combination of flavors that has to be tasted to understand, but suffice to say the bread holds up nicely to the juiciness of the roast beef and gravy. The sandwiches come with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles which I think suits them nicely(although you can have it however you like). Also their salad with grilled chicken is strangely addictive, especially when dressed with their honey mustard dressing. I think they must make their croutons in-house because they always taste so fresh. Otherwise there is nothing remarkable about the ingredients, just some nicely grilled chicken on a bed of plain lettuce with some tomatoes, pickles and red onions. They have a nice happy hour for beer and they also do frozen daiquiris.

The food at Calliope’s is totally authentic and reminds me of my days living in New Orleans. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they now have grilled Catfish and Whiting Po-boys(as well as the fried variety). They are done to perfection on New Orleans style french bread, but are a few less calories when you’re watching your waistline. The atmosphere is authentic too when people start sucking craw-fish heads.

Great New Orleans-themed place to visit for quality Cajun favorites. Good thing for me is that it’s close to work, so I can come often. Bad thing is that it will put a dent in your wallet. I loved both the shrimp and the oyster po-boys. Their po-boys come in several sizes, I just stick to the small, which is 8″ and they cut it in half for you. The oyster po-boy comes with 5 large fried oysters on the small to cover the entire length of bread and seems to be an appropriate meat to bun ratio. The gumbo is pretty good, a little watery and not a very dark roux, but very flavorful. The seafood gumbo comes with shrimp, oysters, crawfish in addition to chicken and sausage. Just the regular frozen fries alone are nothing special, so the debris fries are worth the extra money. Their sweetened tea is really sweet. Service has always been excellent each time I have come. Even with a Unilocal 10% off check-in offer, I managed to spend nearly $ 15 for lunch on my most recent visit, so be prepared for a meal that will likely top the $ 10 mark.
