Their tap selection sucks, let’s just get that out of the way. Bottle and can selection is much better. Service is great. Truly. The bartender remembered my last name when I came two days in a row. Always friendly and prompt. It draws a crowd of friendly people(but hey – dog people usually are). They have the free or fancy wash station options if needed, some old tennis balls, wooden ramps(though most dogs prefer the picnic tables – why not?), and waste pickup necessities. Fairly clean. Great little events. Just remember, the bartender is not the«lifeguard» or your dog’s babysitter. It’s a nice, chill place for responsible pet owners to get together and let their dogs play will enjoying a few beers. It’s not an excuse for you to leave your dog unattended. That said, I hope the bartenders speak up when complaints are raised, though I’ve never personally seen any huge problems. (i.e. To the couple that didn’t want to keep their dog on a leash but wouldn’t allow it to play with other dogs because it was aggressive, this is not the place for you.)

Update: just found out The Boneyard is closing at the end of November. So sad to see this place go! This is a fantastic dog park, err I mean bar :). No really this is the best place to bring your dog so they can play with other dogs and you can have a drink or two. The beer selection is decent. They even have a dog wash machine which is perfect since they will get pretty dirty, but not muddy.

This place is great. Usually full of other dogs so your dog can stay very entertained. Good selection of drinks, usually some food trucks outside as well. The park has some tables for sitting with friends, although these get very full on weekends. The ground is simply munch, which I’m sure makes for low maintenance but grass would be nice. I would love for this place to expand their park area, they are so popular and filled with dogs that they could use it. Parking wasn’t too much of a problem on the weekend, plenty of availability at the bank next door. Also the coldest thing about this place is the dog washing station, I want to wash my dog there just because it looks really cool

Finally checked this place out over the weekend, and it was a blast. I can certainly see where a lot of the reviewers are coming from regarding some owners not paying complete attention to their dogs, and it’s concerning that those sorts of incidents have happened. It’s easy to get distracted since people are drinking with their friends. That said, I personally had a great experience. It’s a great concept. perhaps they could fine-tune it by having an employee outside overseeing(like a lifeguard but for a dog park haha). I loved that dogs were allowed both inside(on their leashes) and outside. The small patio is also a nice option if someone doesn’t want to get into the park itself, but still be outdoors with their pup. For the most part, everyone and everypup were having fun… there are water bowls around, lots of tennis balls to play with, and lots of room to play. I also love meeting other dogs and they all wander around and come say hi. If you’re a dog-lover, definitely pay this spot a visit(even if you don’t have a dog!)

DONOTBRINGYOURDOGHERE! I repeat do not! My poor Labrador got attacked by a pit bull, blood everywhere, while the pits owner was drinking away on a date paying zero attention. My poor Bella is traumatized, and to make things worse the tattooed bar tender continued to serve him and while I had to rush to a vet he continued his date. Am I wrong for thinking him and his dog should have been kicked out? I still can’t believe this happened, and if you care about your dogs at all you will not take them to boneyard.

My sacred haven ! Akoya and i were visiting tx and i dont go anywhere without her so it was sooooo great to find a place where i could enjoy a casual drink while akoya gets to socialize and play with new friends. I always mention how awesome boneyard is and wish someone would open something like this in ca or ky! They also have an indoor area if you dont wanna be outside with all the pups. They had an array of beer on tap and i personally loved their triple IPA. I“d recommend this place to anyone who visits tx!

I think when my dogs die and go to Heaven, I will sprinkle some of them at the Boneyard. YUP, we are huge fans. The bartenders, Zack and Chris, are super knowledgable. This is a great place for you and your pooch to meet some new friends! Check it out!

It’s time I say my piece about Boneyard. If you’re my friend, you probably know that I go here often with my little bugger Bruce. He’s a black lab mix, and friendly as anything. First, Boneyard is as clean as any city-run dog park I’ve been to. That means Danny Jackson, Millie Bush, Discovery Green, and the ones by that outdoor Niko Niko’s downtown. The smell, the poop, the urine, and all the other good stuff that comes with owning a dog are somewhat present in all these places. All have options for owners to clean up, and all clean up extra during off hours. I have never had an issue with the cleanliness of Boneyard, especially in comparison to others in the city. Next, the issue with aggressive dogs. Are aggressive dogs allowed at Boneyard? No. Can the single bartender watch every single dog that is playing in the back? No. So it is incumbent on the patrons to police their dogs and those around. Last time I was there, a dog was getting a bit aggressive. I noticed it was making people uncomfortable, so I announced to the entire park that this dog needed to be near its owner. The owner sheepishly came over and got the dog and sat him down next to his bench. Would I rather not have to do that? Yes, but I also understand that sometimes we have to be responsible for the safety of ourselves and those around us, even if others aren’t. I recommend all those who frequent Boneyard do the same. If an animal is clearly too aggressive, address the owner yourself. That said, Boneyard offers a great time for dogs and humans alike. Good rotating tap and can list, decent wine, and space for the pup to romp and socialize. A food truck is often present in the later hours, and twitter is a great resource for figuring out which one will be there and when. Should your dog get REALLY dirty(mine has taken to finding a dusty patch and rolling in it), they even have an automated wash tub. Think car wash for doggies. It’s expensive($ 10), but it’s worth it to save the headache of washing Bruce at home. I love this place, and you can too, provided you treat it more like a community and less like a daycare.

We went this weekend with our new dog and some doggie friends. I had been before and enjoyed it, and thought it would be a fun experience as a new dog owner. As other reviewers have said, there is no monitoring of the dog park. I feel like it’s normal human decency to pick up after your dog, but walking around the dog park was like walking through a dog poop minefield. A friend even stepped in a pile while stepping backwards to avoid a swarm of dogs. A lot of people are also too busy socializing among themselves to keep an eye on their dogs. There were quite a few aggressive dogs trying to force their unwanted attentions on smaller female dogs — the owner of a female dog had to keep pulling the male dogs off since their owners were nowhere to be found. I understand the social/drinking aspect is a big reason why people come here, but please still be responsible owners. I doubt we’ll come back unless someone else wants to — I’ll stick to normal dog parks where people actually pay attention to their fur babies.

Alright Boneyard, I really tried to like you. This concept was such a good one, I was pumped to find a place that I can enjoy a Summer Blonde while my pup got a work out, but on my second visit I had a run-in that really makes me question if I’ll ever be able to return. In May I watched a dog run around causing problems with one dog or owner after another — highly aggressive. More than one person left because of this dog and I was actually getting ready to do the same. Then the dog brutally attacked a woman who was pulling her dog away by the collar. The attacking dog bit repeatedly through her hand until she managed to tear it away, blood covering her hand. She was crying and shaking, and asked the owner of the dog for current rabies information and vet name to take with her to the hospital. That a-hole dog owner would not give any information up. She slapped him in the face and left with her husband, still crying. ** YIKES ** Now I am assuming this is not a regular occurrence, and also, you know — «dogs will be dogs.» However, a few minutes later the bartender on duty came outside and announced that the woman had carried food in the park, which is what prompted the dog to bite her. He blamed it on her and reminded everyone they needed to follow park policy. Having been about 5 feet from the incident, I knew this was not true. I also figured the bartender was just trying to keep the peace, but wanted him to realize that the dangerous dog was still prowling around the park, and also that the woman was headed to the hospital. I went inside(with pup in tow) and let him know what had happened and asked him to remove the dog from the park. Unfortunately, he laughed me off and said that things happen and no one will know what really happened. I said it before and I’ll say it again: ** YIKES ** I sure hope the owners of this bar were made aware of what went down, and that the woman is okay. As for me, I think I’ll steer clear of Boneyard for the time being.

I loved the crowd and the space they have for dogs. They have at least 10 water bowls, a hose, and ice for the pups. Its mostly just a large yard with picnic tables and wood chips, no special features or anything really but still a solid time. The bar inside is really nice and we went on a day where they were having a raffle so that was neat. The drinks are a little overpriced though. Also they have a little patio and inside seating for those who dont want to go in the main dog park area.

My girlfriend and I go to the Boneyard about once or twice a month. We have a pitbull/lab mix and he always has a good time when we go to this bar. Over the past few months it has gotten increasingly crowded during peak hours. As such, we have started going right when they open on the weekend and it doesn’t seem to be as bad. They have a good beer selection, though I won’t say their prices are amazing. But I understand that they have to charge a bit more for the upkeep of the dog area. They also sometimes have frozen mimosas or sangria, which I think are a nice change, but I’ve noticed they haven’t had them lately. Despite the fact that many people have mentioned in their reviews that you can bring your own food, you are NOT allowed to bring food or dog treats into the dog area. If you want to eat there, you can do it inside or on the patio. If you bring food in, you will likely get mauled by someone else’s dog and it will be completely your fault. Also, people complain about other people’s dogs behaving badly, etc. I think that the dogs tend to get more rowdy and even in a «pack mentality» when it’s too crowded, so I’d recommend going at a less-peak hour and you won’t have to worry about your dog so much. There is no separate area for small dogs(except on the tables *glare*), so if they aren’t ok with big dogs, take them somewhere else. All in all, we like it and will continue to go despite the increasing number of negative reviews lately.

The idea of this place is amazing. A laid back bar with a deck and fenced in dog area where you can drink and eat some of the best food truck food. Would be if I had a large dog. My little yorkie/maltese mix was fine and walked around but was definitely over powered by the LARGE dogs. Although most of the dogs were cute and friendly, there was a big incident of a fight(I am told over a ball) that was pretty scary(some bloody teeth). I can understand dogs fighting, but the owners did nothing. Said nothing. the end. The rules state that you have to leave if your dog is aggressive. It made me uneasy. Again, my pup was not in danger at all, as she was uninterested in playing with the larger dogs, but it makes you realize that you really need to monitor and at any moment, a dog could take a bite out of your dog… OR A PERSON. I am thrilled that they do not allow children. GOODCALL! I LOVE the double gate but WISH there was a small area inside the larger area for small dogs(maybe 20LBS or less). If so, I would go all the time.

I am so happy that The Boneyard decided to pop up here in Houston. They consistently have a great selection of local craft beers, and the facility brings a nice Austin feel to the area. The crowds, which usually only exist on the weekends and during fundraising events, are usually very mild-tempered, and you can tell most everyone is a decent dog owner. Being a dog park, it is not unusual to see a quarrel break out amongst the canine crowd, but owners tend well to keeping their animals in check. I prefer to come during the week to enjoy a smaller crowd, but everyone I meet there is very interesting and personable. I also enjoy the high number of mixed breed/adopted animals. You get a good feel that the crowds are genuine dog lovers! The managers and bartenders are very personable, and the owners plan great fundraising events for the community. During peak times there is always a supply of yummy food thanks to some of the best food trucks in Houston that show up. You can always check The Boneyard’s facebook page to see which truck will be there that day and for how long.

It had been about a year and a half since I last visited this place because well, I don’t own a dog. Still, I love dog events whether it’s the Reliant Dog Show, Dock Dogs, or any other dog related event. The first couple of times I went there, the place was still semi-new so I overlooked many things thinking they were going to get to it, but they haven’t. It’s just dirty there. In the back, there is a mushroom cloud of urine and feces filled dust and fur flying around. They have mulch now(it used to be just dirt and weeds) but that’s obviously not helping. How in the hell can anybody eat food with that stuff in the air. On the subject of dirty, I was feeling just fine all week, but after having one drink there, the next day I started getting a sore throat and a slight fever. Considering nothing else had changed in my routine, I suspect maybe their glasses are not exactly getting the Cascade treatment. This happens at a lot of bars, but I guess I let my guard down. Maybe bring your own or get a bottle. As far as the dogs are concerned, it’s a lesson in bad dog ownership… and that’s coming from a non-owner. The dogs get very aggressive and at any given time, there is a dry humping festival going on with dogs trying to dominate each other, jumping over tables to sip beer, etc. and the owners are nowhere to be found. I will avoid this place in the future. Seriously, how hard is it to bring a dishwasher and wash the mugs instead of dipping them in a cesspool?

Sure, it’s semi-gimmicky. You can drink with your dog any number of places, but so few with air-conditioning to make it through the misery that is Houston summers. While the beer selection is solid with around 15 taps, it’s certainly not the best deal in town, with most beers in the $ 5 – 6 range. However, what’s spent on beer, can be made up by bringing your own food. If you’re not the pre-planning type, various food trucks stop as well. For the pooch, the dog park out back is fairly large, has water bowls, and various tennis balls for playing. It does get crowded on the weekends… and don’t bring a dog that hates socializing, because, like people, the dogs can get a little rowdy. For me, it’s the only(uncontrollable) negative of the spot. Some owners ignore their pet’s poor behavior towards others, and it seems to occur here more frequently than at a proper dog park.

Went here Sunday night for a drink with my two labs. There was a good beer selection and it was reasonably priced. Bombshell Blond Ale was $ 5, and I had 3 of these. I would have had more, but the food truck they tweeted about did not show up. I wish they had tweeted an update. The park was decent sized covered in mulch. There are empty bowls laying around if you want to go to the hose and fill them up with water for your dog. There are lots of picnic tables and trees provide shade. The only problem this place has is with the clientele as opposed to the establishment. People do not always clean up after their dogs. Some people have aggressive and non-socialized dogs. I did not let this effect the review as this is not the fault of management. I really wanted to love this place. Maybe a second visit, when I am not driven away by hunger, and the place is less crowded will allow me to update with more stars.

Alright this is the first review and I plan on another visit and an update review. My husband and I took our pup Samuel here. We thought we could all enjoy some beer and fun. Well being that it was Friday afternoon/early evening it was super crowded. I don’t think I will be coming on Friday or probably Saturday. Everyone seemed really nice and all the dogs got a long it was just a little crowded for our taste. I think a weekday afternoon will best suit us. When we first arrived we checked out the area then hit up the bar for some brews. There was only one guy at the bar and it was kinda busy. My husband said that he’s never felt so much pressure ordering a beer. He made a quick decision and we got our beers. Honestly he seemed kinda rude about it all. We got our beers and then headed into the dog park. I like to describe it as the backyard of the bar. It’s a nice open area with picnic tables everywhere along the perimeter and then an open area for the pups to run around. In addition to the tables their I even think I saw some folks bring their own chairs. Maybe an idea if we decide to come back on a busy night. We headed towards the back part of the yard and saw a table available. Samuel just explored the whole area. He didn’t really play with any other dogs but that’s how he is. He’s gotta check it all out before he socializes. We stayed for maybe 15 – 20 minutes when we decided there was too much going on. There was a dog that was constantly barking next to us. There was a guy sitting at a table behind us who kept throwing tennis balls over my head. There was a few close calls and I swear if he nailed me in the head he was going to get an earful. It was annoying. There were lots of dogs running in packs together but they were mostly big dogs. So that was a little much. I know what I get myself into going to a dog park but this was a little overwhelming to me. Maybe Friday night was the best night to go for the first time. We decided to go up front and check out the Luchi and Joey’s Food Truck up front.(PS I wrote a review for them if you want to check it out.) There were tables on the front deck to get food and chill. That was more our scene. It reminded us of the Friendly Spot in San Antonio. We were right by the door so it was cool to see all the four legged folks coming in and out. The whole concept of this place is pretty awesome. I would like to come back but will have to do convince my husband to come with. They have good selection of beers and the outdoor area is nice. Will come again and write another review.

I don’t own a dog, but this place makes me wish I did. I often go with my one friend and her lab. It is so entertaining to just kick back, drink a beer, and watch the dogs interact. All dogs visit from little yap, yaps to Mastiffs. Only bring your dog if he plays well with others though. If you are in the market of getting a dog, it is a great runway show of all walks of dog. Definitely helps you get a good feel of different dog breeds. Be prepared to pet some dogs, there are a few that if you do pet them, they will not leave your side. They have a unique and excellent beer selection with great happy hour pricing. The service has been excellent. If you do go, DONOTEAT in the area of the dog park! It is a rule, but every first time person seems to do it. It obviously causes an issue or you get a nice lick of your hamburger by one of the Great Danes that often visit(have seen it several times now). Also only open one gate at a time. They do not serve food, but they always have one of the excellent Houston food trucks outside.

Boneyard has all the makings of something very special, and I have been here several times. The last two has really made me think twice about bringing my pup back, especially with similar concept bars opening in the area. When Boneyard first opened there was a good crowd, dogs were civil, and the service was decent. The last two times, the crowd is dicey, and it seems like people from under the bridge are coming in to sit around and stare at people. This last Saturday was really strange. There was an odd ball guy with Pantara in the parking lot blaring staring at people parking, I honestly thought he was going to try and rob me while stealing my Shih Tzu.(Wait! isn’t that a movie?) HA! Anyway, it was daytime, and the place was PACKED. There was NOWHERE to sit, and there were a LOT of HUGE(i’m talking horse sized) dogs and a ton of dogs that were aggressive. They were running around like Cujo jumping on people and rough housing with other dogs. Now, I know that it is the responsibility of the owners to keep this under wraps, but no one seemed to be doing ANYTHING. My dog is 7 lbs dripping wet, she’s small, she’s a little over a year old, and although she is VERYVERY social, and has been to Boneyard numerous times, she was scared shitless. We were approached my a waitress(?) staff, that had her boobs hanging out, and lit up a cigarette while she was taking my order, and at the same time yelling at some dogs to stop fighting. At one time, my friends and I felt like we were in a back alley somewhere instead of a fun little Heights bar, or at least that’s what it used to be. The kicker was when three REALLY big, REALLY aggressive dogs really got into it, NOTONE owner tried to break it up, and NOT one staff(until they were really going at it) came inside and tried to break it up. The smoking waitress screamed at the top of her lungs(and in my ear) for the owners to take the dogs out for a time out, but it could have easily escalated to someone or a dog getting bit. They were snarling and teeth showing at that point. My b/f and I looked at each other, downed our beer, grabbed Lucy and got the hell out of there. Honestly, the concept is genius, especially in the area, where lots and lots of people LOVE their dogs, and want to spend more time with them, but they need to seriously think about separating the SUPERGIGANTIC dogs from the smaller or medium dogs, especially when the owners don’t keep an eye on them, its just a matter of time when someone or someone’s dog gets seriously hurt.
