I don’t get these reviews. Yes, it’s nice to have the thought of a place like this in the burbs, but the foods just not good. We’ve tried it 3 times now, all visits spaced far apart hoping it was just us, but the food was bland. Bland & pricey. Each visit. Only redeeming quality is the service is always good.

Awesome food and great atmosphere. Went during the week for a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Place was not crowded, so I was a bit uneasy at first. The service was great and so was the food. I had the burger and salad. My wife had the Salmon salad. Both were very good. We will definitely be going back.

Ok so I usually have to drive to the heights to get away from the regular food chains. I live in the area & found this place on Unilocal. The reviews & pictures look and sound amazing. We waited 30 minutes for a table for 2. The female bartender was very sweet, friendly and easy to conversations with. We finally get our table to find out that none of the pictures on the Unilocal review were no longer menu items. It literally took us about 20 minutes to decide on an entrée and when we did our waitress told us «they ran out». We asked for our check because nothing on the menu seemed as appealing as about 10 of the pictures on Unilocal did. We ended up paying $ 70 for 1 appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, &2 glasses of beer. I love this place. Menu is not long and they have different specials every time we come. I’m willing to pay a little higher price to get quality like this. It is not the usual franchise/chain crap you get everywhere else in Houston.

Have dined a couple of times. Overall always good but not great. Some of the items are hit or miss in terms of taste but everything fresh. A little overpriced for what you get. Guess that is the farm to table price structure. Overall it is worth a try to those who have never been.

This is a super good place. Everything is fresh and simple but really good. We had a variety from the menu including shrimp and grits, which were so good someone had them for breakfast the next morning, a beautiful filet with mushrooms and a large salad with fresh greens. We found a favorite wine on the wine list and service was friendly but not intrusive. Décor is warm and friendly. We will be back!

We were in town visiting my parents when they said they have been wanting to try this place but it was always busy. After looking at the reviews and pictures on Unilocal we decided it was a must try so we arrived right at 5 p.m. on Friday. They are Rustic New American Cuisine which is American food with a twist. The inside of the restaurant is rustic looking which is perfect for this little restaurant. The only problem we had was while we were being served our drinks the waitress put the tray right in front of my daughter(15 months) who I was holding. I went for her hands but was not fast enough so she pulled the tray dumping our drinks all over us. It was a little frustrating but the staff was really understanding and the waitress learned you can not put anything so close to a 1 year old. The rest of the dinner was fantastic. Our waitress was very sweet, took time to explain specials and beers, made sure we had everything we needed, and made sure to check on us. You can tell the owner made this restaurant run smoothly. We watched as he made sure every dish that came out of the kitchen presented perfection. The food was more amazing than it looked! First the owner served us deviled eggs with fried oysters which everyone(that tried it) really enjoyed. For my entrée I got the burger and even thought I got it well done(since I am expecting) it was beyond delicious! The other entrees that were ordered at our table was the grilled cheese and short rib, back ribs, pot pie and kids chicken tenders. The portion sizes were excellent for the price(ribs were big enough to feed 2) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Even their chicken tenders were great! Overall I would recommend this restaurant and we will be back to try out more entrees.

We have gone here 4 times really wanting to love this place. We have gone for 2 lunches, a beer dinner, and pop up chicken dinner. Overall the food is good, a bit expensive, and service is hit or miss. Our main issue is lack of organization. At the beer dinner there was no printed menu and the chef didn’t seem concerned nor enthusiastic, she would come in and say a few words and then leave. We had to ask neighbors who had an email with the menu. The pop up chicken dinner the food was decent but the fried chicken left me wanting a crispier crunchy chicken. The flavor was okay, not salty or spicy. They weren’t as crunchy as I like. It was $ 24 for 2 and even though I realize it’s local it still seemed high for what you get. So far nothing we’ve had has tempted us to return.

Ehhhh. So I really, truly want to like this place. I mean it’s by the house and it’s trendy!!! I live in the burbs and haven’t found a restaurant quite as trendy as this one besides Ba Mien Bistro. But the food, gosh is soooo disappointing! Such a let down! Every time we try to go, it’s Sold Out or completely packed, so I’m thinking omg gosh, we live so close to a cool place! And trust me we have tried and tried this place, even invited friends, but haven’t been back after hmmm our 5th visit? So about the food, sweet tea fried chicken and biscuits, wow sounds delish right? Nope, it was so bland, so dry, tsk tsk. All hype. I think you should save yourself the trip and money and go to Popeyes, I mean sorry to compare«gourmet» food to fast food, but popeye’s chicken is flavorful and never dry! burgers, ehhh, just loaded with a bunch of toppings really don’t care for them, nothing wow about the burgers. Oh, they hosted a paella night, oooh weee fancy! Another disappointment. Chicken was painfully dry, and portion was ridiculously teeny, tiny! I left hungry that night. However, the milk and cookies are delicious and presentation of that dish is super adorable. But if that’s all you have that’s delicious… That’s all I can really remember about the place. Like I said, I want to like the place, sorta friendly staff, convenient location, but food is just over hyped and mediocre.

The food was great, the service kinda sucked… That pretty much sums it up. I came for dinner since I’ve heard good things about Black’s, and it turns out everything I heard was true. The good: burger is delicious, every burger in town that uses 44 farms beef is just good period. Atmosphere is comfortable Short rib grilled cheese is really good — I will re-emphasize that it’s basically a short rib sandwich with melted cheese… The bad: Grilled vegetables, too much seasonings. Waiter did not come check on me often, forgot to bring my st arnolds root beer after I ordered it, it took nearly 40 minutes for my food to come out with just 1 other table of customers. Thats pitiful. I will be back… but mainly because the food was just really good and hit the spot.

Wish they didn’t close at 10& it wasn’t so far away. I’m in love with their Shrimp Avocado Salad. It’s simple yet amazing. I think they put crack in the dressing. Lol jk. Love that it’s fresh & local!

Just got back from Black’s Market Table and I loved it! I must say the pictures on Unilocal don’t do it much justice — I was going to forego the trip for another meal at Cyclone Anaya’s(no shade). Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised. I work in Jersey Village so it was a relatively short drive up Beltway 8 to the restaurant. Not a bad start at all. Especially for a quick lunch getaway. Customer Service: No complaints — I’m not doing deadlifts over it but it was good. Weird the waiter didn’t know what a Shirley Temple was(blasphemy!) but apparently he got a crash course. Ambiance: great — i love the rustic setting they have going — and the barn doors that close for private events — Love It! The overall décor is understated but it works! Food: I was going for the Shrimp and Grits but after looking at their Daily Specials(on the wall to the left of the entrance) I had to go with the Grilled Pork Chop with Mashed and veggies —(i think there were some extra adjectives: shrugs:) — this was by far the BEST pork chops I’ve had. Especially since i’m no pork chop fan. and the mashed potatoes — YUM! skins and all! Oh I forgot appetizers — got chip and dip… they make the potato chips in-house so no Lays here mister. The dip was a spinach dip — so so deelish. The perfect crisp to the perfect creamy goodness. Price: I might be biased having been used to NYC prices. But given the setting, customer service, presentation of food, this is CHEAP. $ 14 for my entrée. say what?! So, would I go again… totes ya! – if you’re still second guessing it, don’t. just do it. go. you won’t regret it.

Finally an exceptional restaurant that I don’t have to drive a long way for. If you live in Cypress, Tomball, Champions area, do yourself a favor and stop in. Ate dinner here with my wife, mom, and two sons and everyone was really happy with everything, even the 5&6-year-olds. We had two different starters: brisket egg rolls and shrimp cocktail. Both were outstanding and I even ordered a second plate of shrimp — huge perfectly cooked and treated with a tad bit of some light olive oil and large coarse grind black pepper with the perfect ratio of horseradish in the sauce). I had a shrimp BLT with baked-potato-salad. Sandwich was delicious though it could have used maybe one more slice of bacon, and oh dear lord was that potato salad good! Wife had a lobster roll which is kind of hard to mess up unless you try, but was really good. Light on the mayo, seasoned lightly, perfect soft grilled bread. Mom had the burger which she gave me a small piece of… really good. Perfectly cooked, all the accoutrements were delicious and in the right proportion. She also had the potato salad was over the moon for it. Kids had chicken tenders and a hot dog which they both cleaned out. They served them with green apples and a some carrots which they gobbled up. We were too full for dessert but I’m confident it would’ve been exceptional just as the rest of the meal was. Service was good. It wasn’t exceptionally fast, but our waiter was thorough and friendly. The place itself is quite nice and the atmosphere was great. Felt like you could go there for a nice dinner date, or just pop in anytime with family. The prices weren’t what I’d call low, however I felt that everything was fairly priced for the quality we got. Looking forward to getting back soon to try a chicken pot pie.

What a fun place. The food was exceptional. We had the deviled eggs with fried oysters and bacon oh my goodness what a delectable flavor in my mouth… the only thing bad I have to say about it is there there wasn’t more of them. lol… I had the shrimp and avocado salad it was beyond amazing the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The lettuce was bibb lettuce which you don’t find all the time. You can’t really tell that they pay attention to detail in their food. Orderd the hot dog for my son. It came with french fries apples celery and carrots with homemade ranch dipping sauce. He ate the whole plate didn’t even get a chance to try it but obviously it was delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel almost like your the north west coast mix with a rustic medieval feel… I cant wait to come back!!!

I tried this restaurant for lunch. Ordered the chicken and biscuit, chips & dip, pork belly and short rib sandwich. Chips & dip 2⁄5 — chips were good but the dip was bland Chicken & biscuit 2⁄5 — the biscuits was flaky but the bbq chicken didn’t go well with it. A bit mediocre and wouldn’t order again. The potato salad had hard pieces, seems like they didn’t boil it long enough Pork belly 4⁄5 — one of the items I liked out of the order Short rib sandwich — didn’t get to try Avacado & tomato side 2⁄5 — nothing special half an avacado and 2 slices of tomato. Not dressed up at all Hope that they improve but I not going to run here to try it again

I was so excited to see a restaurant in the area that serves healthy(it seems) food as an option. Have been eating lunch there recently. Here is what I’ve learned. Wonderful atmosphere. The design of the restaurant is simple and comfortable. Community tables are a cool idea. Hostesses mediocre, but the wait staff has been impressive. Not the best place to go if you don’t have much time for lunch. Business meeting yesterday. Oyster deviled egg was interesting. Pitchfork salad and shrimp was good. Someone got the pecan pie. Not worth the price-quality was poor and price was excessive.(See pic) Was starving today and called in an order to take back to the office. Asked for large pitchfork salad with salmon added. It wasn’t ready when I got there. Not acceptable considering the dish. Shouldn’t take long to prepare. I was floored when I saw the bill! $ 12 for the salad-cup of field greens, few cherry tomatoes and some bits of bacon. $ 19 for the salmon!!! When I asked the hostess if $ 19 was really the price for a piece of salmon with my salad, her response was just«Yes». No let me talk to someone or let me get the manager. Just yes. The entrée of salmon is $ 19 with two sides. You would think that they might be able to give me the salad as the two sides with the salmon if they were going to charge me the entrée price! So I decided to find out what exactly is SO special about their Verlasso salmon. What I found is disturbing. 1) you can get it at Costco(probably cheaper 2) «Verlasso, the company behind the salmon, is embracing genetically engineered or genetically modified(GM or GMO) technology. Unlike AquaBounty’s GMO salmon, which has been genetically altered to grow quickly in cold water(and is held up in the FDA rule-making process), the genetic engineering here is happening only to what the fish are being fed. Verlasso is a joint venture between ag-chemical giant DuPont and farmed-salmon giant AquaChile. They’ve developed a genetically modified yeast – one that carries genes from an Omega-3 producing algae – which has dramatically reduced the company’s reliance on forage fish as a component of the salmon’s diet.(It isn’t on the label.)» So while I thought I was eating a fish that was good for me at a restaurant that per their Website is a «mostly farm to table» concept, I was eating GMO fish. I like this place and would love to see them make the changes necessary to live up to their concept. Cypress needs some good restaurants that offer healthier choices. Consumers are savvy now and will continue to demand something more than McDonald’s Frakenfood. Black’s has the opportunity to be on the forefront.

Love their local food & brews concept! We need more of this in Houston. It’s an AWESOME place! Feels like it should be inside the loop with their sophisticated take on southern classics & neat interior. We had their shrimp & grits which were so silky and delicious. We also had their boudain stuffed grilled oysters, pork chops and chicken pot pie; all were wonderful. We will definitely be back! Plus their desserts are the !!

I very excited to try this place. I have had a craving for fried chicken for some time now so when I saw them advertise their fried chicken pop up dinner, I took it as a sign. They are typically open only for lunch Mon. — Fri. and for dinner on Thurs-Sat. For the Wed. pop up dinner they were only offering the Chicken dinner, which was too bad because I really wanted to try the fried oyster deviled eggs. I decided to get my chicken dinner to go and so did a BUNCH of other people since the line was out the door. The restaurant has a charming rustic feel to it and everyone was very friendly. Chef Bart was packing orders up as fast as he could. I was hopeful I would be out the door and home eating my chicken very soon, but then everything came to a halt. I ordered the chocolate chip cookies, which take 15 minutes since they are made to order. So I sat and watched people come and go with their bags full of chicken. Finally, out the door and anxious to try my meal. Stuck in traffic I decide to eat one of the cookies. They were hot after all! I was disappointed to find they were burnt on the edges and a little raw in the center. I ate it anyway. The cookie had a great taste though, not too sweet, and just the right amount of salt. Now the chicken dinner. The chicken was moist and juicy. There was a subtle sweetness to it and a bit of pepper in the batter. Was it the best fried chicken I have ever had, sadly no. The sides were also a bit underwhelming. Okay mashed potatoes, cole slaw with a splash of vinaigrette, and a very creamy green bean casserole. The best part was the fluffy biscuits and honey butter.
