Great crawfish and the waitress are always there when a refill is needed. They don’t allow dogs any more.

So I live within 4 minutes of Big Johns and I rarely go. This week, I went twice, and was bowled over both times by the quality of the food and the service! Great management! Keep it up guys!

My first time here was on a Thursday and it was trivia night. I had great experience as the whole bar was interacting with each other and having a great time. Great awards are given for the 1st place and 2nd place winners. I notice my waitress was serving a lot of people but she was still swift with my drinks and very polite. A lot of TVs here showing sport games. They also have ping pong table in the back which was fun for me. I am definitely coming back here.

The food is plentiful, good and well priced. I wish they had more drink selection. I’ll be back anyway

Stopped by because it’s not far from where I live. Not too crowded. People are nice. I just didn’t like that the waitress waited on everyone around me except me. I was just sitting by myself reading so I wasn’t being obnoxious or anything. Had to keep getting up to get myself a drink. Cashed out and tipped for her to open my beer.

They have a really large open air area where it gets smokey in the colder months. Smokers tend to congregate right at the entrance to the open area. If you walk thru — hold your breath. Bartenders are great, the girls serving are personable and really hustle. Warning– food is great during the week. When the regular cook is working the food is really good– when he is gone– don’t bother.

The live music Big John’s brings in is fantastic(professional musician speaking here) and makes it well worth coming. So far I’ve only caught In the Key of Soul and Coco and the Sugarcanes, but they were both stellar and I was surprised to see such great performances with no cover charge. Check them out!(Oh and the gumbo is delicious too).

Tried this place twice to just drink. Older crowd with only a few nice patrons. Bar tenders were rude and acted annoyed a younger couple was there. Won’t go back or recommend.

Big John’s is walking distance from our home. My favorite time of the year is spring time because of the crawfish. Hubby and I sit on the pattio and dive into a bucket of bugs. He also enjoys the buffalo burgers. The clientele is typically significantly older than me(I’m talking 45+) but they are usually friendly. The staff is prompt and very pleasant.

One of my favorite spots in the energy corridor. It’s got a dive/sports bar combo feel, and feels like a traditional icehouse. My bartender, Burt, was the coolest dude ever and was quick with a joke or to light up a smoke. Great place to catch a game or just relax after-work.

I lived in the area for a while, so this is my first visit, and I must say I was not disappointed. If you’re looking for something fancy this is not your kind of place. However, if you live in the neighborhood and would like to socialize with some locals and kick back in a very casual and relaxing atmosphere then this is definitely the spot. The bartender and the wait staff was very personable, attentive and super friendly. They don’t have beers on draft but they do have a good variety of bottled beers, local and import. Additionally the owner knows he’s wine and carries several bottles of pretty good Merlot. In my first visit I ordered a cheeseburger, which I customized with the Swiss and grilled mushrooms. The food didn’t take long the burger was done very nice, it wasn’t too dry and the meet had just the right amount of spices. I am definitely planning a second visit Wednesday night which is a $ 12.99 steak night. They have all kinds of specials on different nights of the week which is great if you are looking for a good deal and some good food. Great Place! And I can walk home without having to call a cab. I don’t think anyone can beat that.

I’ve got to start off by saying this place is obviously targeting a different kind of customer than myself but I still felt compelled to write this in case there are other people out they like me. Walking in, it was about what I expected from seeing it from the street. I was a bit surprised at the pornography on the walls of the men’s room but it is an ice house. My wife and I came here looking for a good burger and a couple beers. Their beer list is pretty extensive but only if you like bud light or the 20 or so synonyms. Again, I realize many do, but I was disappointed that a couldn’t find a single IPA or anything close to type of beer that I like. That brought it down to 4 stars for me. Moving on to the food. They did have a decent selection of burgers on their menu. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, wife ordered some guacamole burger. We were both really disappointed. There wasn’t much flavor to either one and each ran us just south of $ 10. They came with about 1⁄3 of the French fries that I was expecting so at this point I started to get a bit grumpy. That brought me down to 3 stars. After that, our server forgot about us and I had to go find her to request our bill. $ 30 for 2 burgers and 2 bottom shelf beers. We definitely won’t be back…

I have been here twice now and this is probably my favorite ice house. The chili is awesome, the bartenders are super friendly and the ladies room is super clean. They have daily specials but I come for the chili! Next time I will try the steak night! The wine selection is sparse, but hey, it’s an ice house! I definitely recommend this bar if ur looking for a neighborhood place to hang.

Used to be a cool place to hang out but lately some of the regulars have been getting hostile towards to «business» crowd. Our company had a happy hour there almost once a month but we will never do it again. The people are very trashy now. Waitresses can be slow because I’ve seen them bring their kids in to work and they have to keep track of them. Heather the bartender is very nice but other than that the staff stinks. The food is not good as I have gotten food poisoning at least twice from this place. Bathrooms are usually dirty and smell.

Just okay. The atmosphere is nice, the patio and game area are welcomed, the food is mediocre at best. I would get an order of fries and skip the rest for a real burger restaurant. The bar is nothing special, spend your money elsewhere. Do not come here expecting a «Cheers» vibe.

I was once a «regular» here. And what is really cool is I can walk in today, after several years have passed, and still feel like a «regular». Come in after work and you will see people from all walks of life — straight from the office and straight off the job site. But here we all seek one thing — cold beer, unpretentious surroundings, and genuine people. If you don’t stop by Big John’s when in west Houston, you are definitely missing out.
