Just received message that they’re canceling the Groupon deal I bought for this place… kind of relieved I’m getting a refund because the reviews I’ve read didn’t have me looking forward to going!

This was my first visit to Beaucoup on Sunday, 2/21, and I made reservations for 18 of us to enjoy a nice brunch on my birthday. Well, I should have known that when the restaurant was not open at 11:05 and the staff was still driving up to work at that time, that the service was going to be horrible — and it was just that. First of all, when people make reservations, they expect to arrive at their reservation and be seated. Not here — I was told to wait before entering the building, then we entered and I was told to wait as other patrons were going ahead of me. The entire process of having to pay ahead of time was unorganized and long. I spoke with Philip Hare, the manager of the restaurant, to explain to him that the process was very unorganized and the staff were running all over the place as if they didn’t know what they were doing. They ran out of wrist bands for our wrists and some staff had to have a permanent marker drawn on their hand, which several of my friends refused to have done. Second, we sat at our table and the food was still being brought out. We were promised so much food from Philip and did not receive it. See below, this is a cut and paste email from Philip telling me what I was going to receive: «Our Sunday brunch is a buffet. It is $ 25 and does include a single complementary house beverage(excludes liquor, beer, and fresh fruit lemonades).Brunch items including: Omelette Station Waffle station scrambled eggs french toast pancakes grits & cheese grits hash browns bacon fried chicken fried fish red beans & rice seafood Gumbo grilled vegetables jambalaya pasta boiled craw fish boiled crab desert bar fresh fruit and more. The brunch buffet is from 11am to 3pm, with the house dj playing. The dinner options are not available until 2:45pm. We do take reservation requests for brunch, and it is happy hour from 11am to 3pm as well. The happy hour consists of well liquors, draft beers, frozen drinks and select mixed cocktails. We also offer champagne bottles for $ 13 with a juice mixer during happy hour times. I hope this helps and answers some of your questions. Please let me know how else I can be of assistance.» There was no omelet station, no waffle station, no boiled crawfish, no boiled crab and no dessert bar. The fresh fruit came out in a big bowl with no utensils to pick it up with. One of the staffers, said their waffle maker broke and waffles are made to order. Well, no one in our party knew that, the waitress should have said that to us when she waited on our table — but we barely had a waitress, and the waitress we did have was only serving drinks. What kind of business has broken items and doesn’t have a back up. The food was brought out and people were running to the buffet line to get food. By the time we got to the line, most of the items were gone and it took 20 minutes to replenish. It took almost an hour to receive WATER for us to drink. When we did receive our beverages, the sodas were FLAT! Lastly, I overheard two people asking for their money back because when they got to the line, after paying first, there was NO food on the line. This person was very irate and rightfully so, and demaded his money back — which he did receive. During that time I asked the waitress/staffer if the owner was coming out to speak with me, and she went back and filled Philip with lies and said I was going around tell people that the service was bad. Philip decided to pull me aside and ask me to leave the restaurant. We had a party of 18 people, and paid $ 25 a person and stayed for almost 2 hours and brought business to you and you asked me, the birthday girl, to leave. Then he tries to change his story when my husband approaches. We explained to him what happened and that I’ve been waiting to meet with the owner and I didn’t go around telling anyone anything — I didn’t have to do that, everyone already knew the service was horrible. Most managers try to compensate for the lack of service, and/or are apologetic. They knew the service was horrible, they knew this was not their normal Sunday brunch, so why get upset. This is why the owner did not come out because she knew it was horrible. Philip Hare is a rude, disrespectful and horrible manager. Several of his waitresses mentioned the manager and owner at this establishment do not inform them of pertinent information going on within their organization, therefore the waitresses are constantly apologizing to patrons for the service. They may need to re-open the OST location because they are not ready for large parties and large venues. So much for me supporting this black owned business. We went to Big Ben Tavern after, and was treated with so much respect, the staff were apologetic, when they didn’t need to be — it was a more enlightening experience.

It was my first time going to Beacoup and definitely my last! The service was terrible and the food wasn’t that great either! The only thing our waitress got right were the drinks, but it took forever to get them! Our waitress was very confused and not attentive at all! It wasn’t even a crowd so that made it worse! When our food FINALLY came out it was the wrong order and it was over cooked. I let our waitress know it wasn’t what I ordered and she looked confused and asked me was I sure?! I was done after that! But we tried to forgive them for their mistake and we asked them to put another order in. The order wasn’t put in right away so we had to wait a while to get our food again! Long story short, terrible service! Don’t waste your time going to Beacoup!

What an unfortunate establishment to have a serving staff who doesn’t seem to know how to prepare for a large number of customers even when given fair warning. It was Saturday, January 30th, 2016 that a large group of at least 60, of us, people from a conference decided to patronize this restaurant. We did have reservations, our plan was to be here at 6pm, but when we got here there was no area prepared for us. On top of this, it took them about 45 minutes to seat us… which I actually think many of us just carved out a large space for our group because the waiting staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing. After the 45 minute wait for sitting, it took the waiting staff about an hour longer before they came to take our orders. I’m not talking about my table specifically. I’m talking about it took them A WHOLEHOUR before they spoke to any of us. There were some folks who were able to order some drinks at the bar, but how are you going to let your customers drink on an empty stomach?! Fortunately for those of us in this large group, there were enough conversations going on for us to allow this time not to pass idly. What happened next was the real nail in the coffin for me feeling any pity for the waiting staff. After ANOTHERHOUR of waiting for our food to come out, me and a few others just cancelled our orders and decided to go elsewhere. When we let our waitress know, she had this surprised look on her face as she told us, «I was just about to place your order with the cook.» WHATTHEHELL? You mean to tell me that after waiting 45 minutes to be seated, an hour to place an order, and after an hour of waiting for our order to come out, YOUALLDIDN’T EVENPLACEOURORDERS?! Even if she didn’t place our orders, someone needs to train her on her customer service skills because WEALLWEREHUNGRY… and a lot of us were HANGRY! After getting some food elsewhere and coming back, some of our friends decided to wait it out. One of the people I know who came in from the conference let me know that he had to wait an hour longer to get his food and all he ordered were some fries. SOMEFRIES?! It takes 2 hours to make SOMEFRIES?! There were a lot of people here who were from out of town, and we were trying to show them the best of Houston. Unfortunately, they did not get to see this because the waiting staff was immature and unprofessional. While we were waiting on our food, there were a few waitresses who seemed more occupied flirting with customers than taking care of our large group. The lady at the bar did say she just started, but there should have been some veteran staff members to help out with our party. You leave good money on the table when you let an opportunity like this pass you by. I have been here before with a smaller party and things seemed fine. Perhaps Beaucoup just isn’t ready to make real money. If you look at the timeline, 6pm + 45mins = 6:45pm + an hour = 7:45pm + an hour = 8:45pm. Can you blame me for writing such a scathing review?

This was my first visit to this place and I left with mixed feelings, mostly negatively. I arrived there on a Saturday(1⁄16), just before 3pm so I was able to order off the brunch menu. I sat at the bar and the waitress was not very attentive. Food: I ordered the«Wangs & Waffles» with 2 soft scramble Eggs. The wings were delicious(7⁄10) and crispy, the positive part of the experience. Eggs were mediocre & the waffle was dry, due to slow service it wasn’t worth the effort to ask for more syrup. I also ordered a hurricane margarita, which was really good($ 9). Service: 3 of the ladies who worked there got into a brief, heated argument/exchange in front of customers which was I felt was unprofessional. Additionally, due to how slow the service was, I had to go out of my way to have my payment processed by another waitress. If you value good customer service over quality of food, then this is not a place for you.

The battered wings were decent… A tad over cooked but decent. Garlic mashed potatoes seems like they came straight out the box, however still edible. There was also what appeared to be a noodle in my partners blue cheese. The biggest issue I had was there was NOGIN, house or top self Although I thought the bartender was sweet, I could tell that he really didn’t know much about bartending and wasn’t too attentive once he took our orders. The décor is not aesthetically pleasing. Although the experience was not horrible, I More than likely will not be returning.

Didn’t like this place. A friend of mine, who’s no longer a friend, claimed this place has good food. I guess our taste pallets aren’t even close in knowing what good food is! The reviews are very true of the service! It is SLOW! Or I guess I should say a lack thereof! We waited for the waitress to come around for so long, I think other people decided to give her a hand, which was the manager and another inattentive server. The original server seemed out of touch with life. I’m not sure if she had a lack of sleep or maybe on something else! But her response time wasn’t too well, she moved, talked and looked slow! The food was just as bad as the service, TERRIBLE. I can’t even remember what I ate that day, that’s how bad it was. I’d never go here again.

I don’t know y’all! I try so hard to be supportive, but I keep getting my feelings hurt. We decided to drop into this location since we were in the area. Can I just tell you they are out of unsweetened iced tea!!! How is this even possible??? This is Houston, Texas! It is hot and I need my iced tea. We asked for a glass of water 16 minutes go, but the waiter hasn’t been back. Let’s move on to the food. My food and fries tasted pretty good, but they jilted me and did not give me my Jamaican jerk sauce. Our waiter never returned to check on us until we were near the end of our meal. I like the OST location it has better service. I will return, but it won’t be a return to this location.

This place is horrible! 1st the SERVICE is slow and everything but professional. The manners of all the employees are a disgrace! The food is decent but VERY over priced! For those prices you should be getting at least decent service! I don’t understand why this establishment is in business! Save yourself the disappointment and DON’T eat at Beaucoup!!!

Mimosas were well portioned-champagne: juice ratio !(The only reason they get 1 star if any) Had to wait over an hour to order from the regular menu after the Sunday brunch buffet was over. We waited and had mimosas in the mean time since we traveled across town. Food came out cold. Had to ask the waitress for salad dressing, Lemon, ketchup, plasticware, AND napkins… All on separate occasions bc she didn’t bother to stick around after each request to hear the other fixings needed. My plate of red beans was cold and the fish from my catfish dinner was undercooked and not very good at all. The not so sweet icing on this experience was when my check finally came(after having to wait waiting 30 minutes for it after my request to pay out). The receipt came with one amount and then when I handed the waitress my card the final receipt came back with an 18% service charge added. Usually restaurants will charge you the 18% or more service charge for a party of six or more. I was dining with one other person and no one attempted to inform me that this would be the case at any point. So when I asked for the manager his response was«The 18% service charge is for coming in on Sundays because we have a DJ.» My thoughts were I did not come in here for the DJ but apparently I came here for piss poor service, cold food and much disappointment. This new location’s staff and service is horrible!!! I Will not encourage any business here let alone return for another visit myself. Food not worth the trouble.

Although I love this place because of their food, this location was just terrible. The service was piss poor. The servers were unattentive and it seemed like they were short staffed. It got to a point where I had to go into the kitchen and look for someone to serve us. The waiter took our drink order and we placed our food order at the same time. An hour goes by, I go search for our waiter(of course). she goes and checks on our food and comes back and tells us «they haven’t even started on y’all food.» So she said that we can leave if we want and the drinks were going to be on the house. So we left and went somewhere else. Idk if it was because they had two parties of 20 there, but service was just ridiculous. It sucked because we were all anticipating the good food.

Came here for a pre-wedding party lunch shinding. It felt a little bare bones(like it had just opened or something) but that was fine. There were a few people eating around the bar, but our huge party was sectioned off with a bunch of booths as well as a long table for a buffet-style lunch. In terms of the food itself, everything was good. Nothing to call home about whatsoever, but nothing particularly bad. Just fine. My main issue, though, was with the service. There were at least 3 waitresses working in our section, but they kept disappearing into the drinks area and not coming out. It got to a point where I got up and told them our table wanted water — so the waitress handed me the glasses to go and give to my table! I’m not a snob or anything, but their only job was to give out drinks and refill the buffet, so I was more than annoyed to be shuttling back and forth with drinks in hand. Totally unacceptable. Overall — in terms of food, it’s a decent place. But the service left me not wanting to visit.

So I have to say the space is just weird. I’m not sure they are utilizing the space or the layout well, although it does have potential. Very bare concept. They didn’t have menus on hand. Had to be printed out for me, halved and torn, as it was somehow printed two to a page. Food was good. Had the crawfish bread which was similar to their sister restaurant on OST. I think they just need to organize their concept a bit more and be more prepared ie menus, transitioning from brunch to full menu and presentation of the restaurant.

I’ve been to this new location three times. I will go a few more times and hopefully update my review favorably but at this time this place sucks!!! No service! Prepare to sit and bring a friend that is a conversationalist. If you employer is a clock watcher do not do lunch here. When a waiter finally decides to grace you with their presence it’s as if they are royalty. Snarky attitudes and all. Food is not memorable because it was just a couple of days ago and I forgot what I ordered. I have ordered the chicken and waffles for lunch and it was like leggo my eggo!!! Baaaabie no sir!

BEAUCOUP(English) = A LOT(French) Man & there is A LOT that I love to eat here. I’m so glad they opened this second location on Richmond; it’s bigger, WAYYYYY more parking, has shorter waits, & the food is just as good. I frequent here quite often for brunch on the weekends, the fish & grits and/or the shrimp & grits are amazing! You can also get a whole carafe or two of mimosas for only $ 5 each, you may want to ask the waitress to add a little more champagne(they’re pre-made). Other favorites that I enjoy is the Crawfish Bread, Beaucoup Wings, Crawfish Mac, & that FIRED Burger(don’t judge). I really would love to give five stars, but I’ve had a few incidents with one so called«lead» waitress that always seems to leave a sour taste in my mouth. The manager has apologized a few times for her behavior, but…

First, let me say I LOVETHEOTHERLOCATION on OST. I hate the parking situation but the food & service is much better. Now, this new location has been open for a couple months now & there’s never really anyone there. Maybe people still don’t know about it. It’s much bigger and has lots of parking. HOWEVER, the service sucks! I stood at the bar for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement. I had to wave my hand in the air & still no one came over. The guy next to me said, «I need service, too. They still haven’t served you yet?» Then, the bar manager comes from out of nowhere & took my order & spoke to the staff about serving more than just one side of the bar. Still didn’t help because as soon as she walked off, both bartenders were back to ignoring paying patrons again! When my food finally arrived, the crawfish bread was delicious, as usual. But, they brought me the wrong wings. They eventually brought the correct order but both sets were like warm not hot. And don’t get me started on the air conditioning! OMG!!! Both locations have AC issues but this was the worst. The place is huge & they had one big fan blowing for about 100 people. Ridiculous! Needless to say, I will NOT be back to patronize this establishment at their Richmond location. Horrible experience. I will stick to the location on OST.

My wife brought me here as a surprise. It was recommended to her by a friend. When we arrived the first thing I noticed was the outside patio. Immediately I knew that’s where I wanted to sit. When the waitress asked us if we wanted to sit outside and of course we said yes. One of the reasons we came was we were told that they had free mimosas. Once we sat down the waiter said that was not true but at $ 5 a carafe that was fine with us. The free mimosas were a promotion until they got their liquor license which happened about 8 days ago. They brought our mimosas out and then took our order, we decided on shrimp and grits and wings and belgian waffles which we decided to share. The food came out pretty quickly and it looked delicious and it did not disappoint. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the grits were creamy and the shrimp were cooked well and the wings and waffles were very very good. We ordered another carafe of mimosas at five dollars a bottle we couldn’t go wrong .The service was good the food was good I couldn’t find a reason to take any stars away. They’ve only been open a month the establishment was very large and the staff was very friendly and there was a lot of parking! This will be a place that I will frequent and bring my guest to. The only fault and because they are new I won’t hold that against them there was not a large street sign to find them. I’m sure they will put one up in the future.
