Don’t expect luxury! It’s a barber shop of a hair salon — and comes with that neighborhoody friendliness. I come here because my hair is so simple — straight and down to the waist. There’s always a bit of a wait and even if I call ahead, but the ladies are nice and, I mean really, it’s not hard to cut hair straight, and for $ 20 for a reliable cut(for women; I think $ 18 for men), I’m there, and so are a lot of other women and men of all ages. Parking available right at the front.

I recently went there for a long bob haircut. My hair was very long and wanted to go for a change, but didn’t want it too short. I specifically told her how I wanted it cut and even brought a photo with me. She started cutting and kept on cutting. She had a lot stuff in front of the mirror and turned my seat a bit sideways so I was unable look at myself and see what it looked like the whole time she was cutting. I had a friend with me who stopped her but she went on cutting, and believe me, she is so fast with her scissor. She also started thinning my hair and I and started telling her«no thinning please» but she still went on so I had to litteraly raise my voice and repeat my self for her to stop. By the time she stopped, which would’ve went on if I hadn’t stopped her, my hair was so short. It wasn’t anything like what I showed her or told her. I repeatedly asked her in the beginning if she understood as she didn’t speak English and she had an interpreter, a lady who works with her. They said they got it and not to worry. My hair was uneven at the end and it’s pretty obvious. The back was really really short and I couldn’t even have tie a pony tail. I told her I wanted to keep the length just like the photo I showed her, which was past the shoulder, but I was so disappointed and sad. I wanted to burst out in tears. It took me years to grow my hair and it took her minutes to carelessly cut it away. Please be careful when going here for a haircut, please. I recommend not going here at all for a haircut based on my horrifying experience. I’m still struggling to get over it :(

I had noticed this place just driving by on Memorial & recently, I finally decided to give it a try. I needed a haircut badly! The owner cut my hair + her assistant helped out too. I asked to have my hair cut 7 inches & to make sure that it was layered. This was one of those rare occasions where I told a Korean lady to cut my hair exactly how many inches without having her cut a few inches more than what I asked for. Both of them were nice & it helped that they were playing a new Korean drama starring Rain to break the silence as I got my hair cut(it’s not a really big salon & I didn’t have anything to talk about with them despite being Korean).

I got a bad perm last year and tried to cut my hair short before going to this salon. My hair looked bad, but the workers at this salon REALLY fixed it up. I asked for a Japanese hair straightening, but they gave me a free hair cut as well. It was super cheap compared to other places in Houston. I am impressed! :)

A coworker friend of mine walks in one morning with the softest waves in her hair. I should mention that she and I are both Korean with very straight hair and we both sport the same short hair length. Needless to say, a perm on a short haircut was pretty shocking, especially for someone not over the age of 70. But it turned out surprisingly cute in a softer, more feminine pixie sort of way. I was trying to decide whether there was at all an old-lady feel to the look at all, but there really was none and the look really suited her nicely. Sometimes she had a retro 30s vibe, and sometimes she looked like a cute Asian version of Twiggy. So, I decided to give it a shot. And went in for the look myself. This place is far from paradise. It’s a hole-in-the-wall salon, but I’ve got to say that for such a risky look, the lady wasn’t fazed at all. She was confident about the look I wanted, and she was sure it would be a look that I’d be satisfied with. And I have to say, I am quite pleased with the finished product. I still sport a short hair cut, but the waves have added a very feminine touch. The hairstylist — her name is Ann — can do a cut and perm for $ 70, if you have short hair. The particular perm I got is called ‘Roll-Straight’. Funky name, I know, but it’s because it’s similar to getting a straight perm. But they use rollers instead of a curling iron to get the most gentle of perms. I highly recommend this place for a Roll-Straight Perm… particularly suited for the straight-haired Asians out there.
