We checked in here for three nights while in Houston for a convention at the George Brown Center. We had an economy room which was sufficient for two adults; I wouldn’t bring my family here though. The room had an iron, fridge, microwave, TV. The bathroom sink and air conditioning were outdated. Overall I thought the cost for the room to be higher than the standard, but maybe thats just downtown Houston. The location is convenient to the main highways and downtown, but we were warned by our cab driver to be careful of areas surrounding the hotel. If I had to spend the night near downtown again though, I would probably look for a different hotel.

Well, the price is right. And the room seems pretty clean. But the refrigerator doesn’t work. There’s no coffee maker. The toilet seat is barely attached. The nearby neighborhood seems pretty dicey. All in all, if you’re looking for a cheap, no frills spot you could do worse.

Have to say that, we have stayed at many better hotels, this was not one of them. First walk-in, room felt clean, but now a little dirty. Floors needs to be steam cleaned, bathroom faucets have that blue green corrosion, no dead bolt, kinda wonder why we are staying here. I know this was a cheaper hotel than others but I guess $ 80 bucks a night with taxes, doesn’t get you what it use to. A/C works just fine, so did the tv and micro, no iron or ironing board, no Kleenex, you get the picture. Stay elsewhere if you can, but if you have to, it’s probaly one of the last few hotels that have smoking rooms.

If I could give them a negative rating, I would. Multiple rooms were booked in this hotel, each one was filthy. Both rooms stank, one of the air conditioning units was pumping out the smell of mold/mildew the unit was coated in cigarette smoke tar and smelled equally as bad. The carpet had cigarette burns, the sheets were dirty and there was assorted grime all over the entire room. I would have stayed at another hotel but everywhere else was booked. I decided to wear my shoes in the room, wore full coverage clothing when I went to bed, turned off the AC and prayed to God I didn’t get bed bugs or lice. Needless to say, I made it out alive(whew…) but I would not recommend this place to anyone ever. You would be better off sleeping in your car. (don’t let the 3.5 average rating on fool you.)
