A-Arvell Moore Air Conditioning & Heating

The A/​C unit went down this week, in the middle of Houston weather approaching 105C. This was in a condo unit I rent out, so it was imperative this be fixed quickly. Set up an appointment with Arvell Moore for ‘first thing’ in the morning… they didn’t show up until 5pm.
Then, the guy claims that the entire condenser unit needs to be replaced, at a total cost of $ 3000. He also recommends that the entire system be replaced (which I do see his point, the system is quite old) for $ 5000.
We had someone else (A/​C repair guy not affiliated with a company) come take a look at the unit, and it took him about 1 hour to replace the fan motor in the condenser and charge it with refrigerant — total price of $ 200. It’s working great now.
If you’re considering these guys, watch out and get a second opinion.
