I am a bit surprised that I am the first to review this company because they were recommended to us by two different people. Regardless, I can report that our experience with this company was ok. Alfred had provided an estimate and he was fair and knowledgeable. He gave us several options for repairing our floor, mainly to see what fit within our budget and schedule. These included repair only, repair and blending with our existing floor or replacement of all flooring. He arrived on time and was out quickly, but still remained personable. When it was time to schedule the work, he was flexible and made sure that I understood both the work schedule and time required for each step. Work went according to his original estimate and schedule, so no complaints for that. Some things that I wish were a little better: 1. Alfred didn’t do the work, his son Jason and a team of 2 – 3 men did it. This wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was a disappointment after working only with Alfred prior to the work starting. He did stop by almost every day though. 2. While Jason was very knowledgeable, the supporting crew was there to do a certain task only. Anything outside of doing this task or how their task fit into the larger picture of what was being done was unknown to them. So they could never give me an answer without going to the«boss man». Since they usually arrived at the start of each day, 30 mins — 1 hour before Jason arrived, this would cause a delay in getting answers or in some cases slow their work down until they got further direction. 3. A full crew comes each day, even to a point where not everyone was needed all of the time. I would think that everyone would want to stay efficient, but there was a good amount of standing around until someone asked for something to be done. 4. A conscientious team that moved and covered furniture and wall coverings. However, they removed the coverings after one day only, even though they continued to sand, stain, apply polyurethane, and work for days afterwards. 5. They say that they put down three(3) coats of poly-urethane but they do not. They put down 1 coat of sealer and 2 coats of poly-urethane. Insist on a 3rd coat. It doesn’t hurt them and it definitely doesn’t hurt your floor. Besides, the only person who has to suffer through it is you, because you will have to wait another day or two for the floors to dry. 6. You need to stay on top of details. It is your floor and you are paying for the repair. So if you see differences in staining color, uneven sanding, marks/divot areas where further attention is needed, anything that was not there before, or something in which you are unhappy about — speak up. They were busy and moving from area to area so they did not see everything that I could and I had to point out quite a bit. And as I mentioned before about the crew, they were there to do a task. Once it was done, they assumed that they were finished and didn’t go back on their work to see if issues existed. The end product looks ok but feels a bit rough in spots when walking barefoot. Also, it is much more delicate than before so I am wondering if we need to put on a protectant coating(or two) ourselves. Maybe I should have stayed on top of them more.
