It’s a subway, and a damn good one at that. Friendly staff, clean, they know what they’re doing and they get it done quickly. If I could go beyond 5 stars I would. Other people commented about a staff member who was disrespectful… well yes. Every once in a while that happens, and they normally get fired. Don’t judge a company based on one employee.

Clean, check. Friendly Staff, check. Typical Subway food, check. It’s subway so you know what to expect. As previously mentioned in other post, it is the only restaurant outside of the Chinese restaurant in the small town of Houghton. It’s in a beautifully restored home. And it’s exactly what you would expect to get from a subway restaurant, nothing great but feels the stomach.

If I could give zero stars I would. This was the worst subway I have ever been to. First off when I walked in an hour before they closed the server was sweeping and rolled her eyes. Next when she cut my bread she ripped it all the way open, so when I went to eat my subway everything would fall out. While making my subway I asked for avocado and she threw her arms up, swung open the fridge, which was followed by a slam. I was extremely disappointed with the service and the food. I wouldn’t recommend this subway to anyone.

This Subway is spotlessly clean and has to be one of the prettiest locations in the Subway chain. It’s in a gorgeous, refurbished old home with beautiful plank flooring and vaulted ceilings. It’s right off of Route 19 making it convenient to locals and students at Houghton College(right up the hill from it.) It’s a Subway, so you know what to expect from the food– no surprises there– but the visual of the building is pretty spectacular for a fast food joint! As to the previous reviewer who with no previous knowledge of the town called the college wacky and fundamentalist, I can say that as a fairly recent transplant to the area(5 years) living a couple towns over, I’m pretty thrilled with that college being in our area… I’m sorry you weren’t around long enough to talk to the many contented third, fourth and fifth generation folks who make up most of the community! Yes, it’s a dry town, but if you’re really that hard up for a drink the surrounding ones aren’t. :-)
