While trying to pay a bill for AARP Medicare RX Saver Plus, they put me on hold 36 minutes. Just imagine what they’d do for a claim!

The AARP gets paid royalties for allowing United Healthcare to sell their policies through them. Don’t be fooled. Their coverage is as follows: Part B: meant to cover what Medicare does not pay. Not true. They only pay a fractional amount of what Medicare does pay. The Medicare Part D is even a bigger problem: the coverage is meant to cover all your out of pocket expenses up to $ 2840, and then pick up again at $ 4550. But the new deal with this insurer is that they calculate these stages by «Total Drug Costs» i.e. what they have paid(not what you have paid). Therefore, people reach the coverage donut hole much earlier than they are used to. In fact this is no insurance at all. And whilst in the coverage gap, you still pay a large premium with no benefits. This is crazy, and not the intention of the Law. Do not rely on Medicare Part D insurers to help pay for your drug costs. Pay your generics through Costco, Walmart, Costco etc. or in Canada. Use your Medicare insurance to pay for brand name drugs only. Also complain to the Medicare Ombudsman and to your State Insurer about this abusive practice and the inadequacies of the Medicare drug Plan.
