It was hot, raining, I wanted to see a movie, and I was visiting Hot Springs. What’s a person to do? So I went to the Carmike Central City 10 which was pretty much my only option for a movie in the Hot Springs area. Fortunately, I went in the middle of the afternoon. I think driving behind the mall into the dilapidated, cracked parking lot at nighttime would have been too much like a horror movie for me. Yes, the place definitely needs some exterior work. Okay, a LOT of work. There was nobody at the ticket booth; only a sign to go to the concession stand inside. They also ONLY take cash, which I never carry with me but fortunately had some on me that day. The cashier was very friendly and welcoming. I stopped in the bathroom before the movie. It was fairly clean, but one urinal and one stall had signs up that were broken(whomp whomp). Although the theater itself was an old-fashioned theater(i.e., not stadium seating), the seats all looked in pretty good condition, and it seemed pretty clean overall. The outside of the theater was more scary-looking than the inside. The sound and visual quality of the movie were very good, so I had no qualms about that. Could it be updated? Definitely. Inside and out. But they have first-run movies and everything seemed pretty clean overall.
