Always stop here when I’m driving down Hwy 101 through Hopland. Tastings at the bar are educational and there’s almost never a disappointing wine on the entire list. I usually stock up with a half or full case here, and I know that even what I don’t taste myself will be dang good when I get it home. The owner carefully curates what’s on her shelves, and you’ll find bottles here from winemakers that don’t tasting rooms open to the public, as well as unusual varietals and blends that may be sold out a local wineries already. A real find!

I’m been to wine shops all over the Bay Area and Sip! is definitely worth a visit. The owner was so friendly and the pours were generous. We didn’t get to taste all the wines, but I was delightful to get to taste local wines from all over, not just a single winery. And it’s open until 6!(Seven in July.) Perfect stop(with a patio!) at the end of a long day. 69

This is a fantastic wine store and tasting room. I can only imagine that local wine selection is one of the best, if not the best, in Mendocino County. Each of the wines I tasted was unique, well-crafted, and appropriately priced. I have been in here three times to taste and have enjoyed the pourers each and every time. More knowledgeable than most and also friendly and hospitable. The owner poured for my husband and I on our last visit and she is great! Definitely worth a stop on the 101 but also worth the trip if you are looking for the best Mendocino wines. If you can make an event I would certainly try, they sound like a LOT of fun.

We visited with Bernadette on Saturday, October 26 and had a wonderful time. Her knowledge of Mendocino County wines was very vast and we learned a few things while tasting some unique wines. This is a great experience and worth a visit.

This place is fun. I wanted to try some Mendocino wine and I always get what I want. Even on a business trip! Average-sized wine shop with spacious tasting area. Taste any 6 wines on the list for only $ 5. They might have waived the tasting fee after our party(passing through on our way back from Ukiah to SF for business… yes, business) collectively spent about $ 500 there. I guess that’s the least they could have done. Kidding, kidding. Our pourer was friendly and offered me a free taste of the Moscato, which I kindly turned down as I was driving. But I did have a sip(get it?!?) of my friend’s. It was yummy. Didn’t leave with a ton of stuff since I recently stocked up from my favorite Lodi winery. But I did get a nice Pinot. And I don’t even like Pinot.

This is a great tasting room right in the heart of Hopland with a fantastic hand-picked selection and a charming, well-informed staff. My friend and I came in with open minds but very specific tastes, and Damian treated us like old friends and found things that wow-ed each of us. Besides being the best word-of-mouth any of the wineries in their selection could ask for, he took the time to look over a map of local vineyards with us and mark out points of interest for us for future tours. We’ll hit those up, certainly, but expect us to be back at Sip! on a regular basis.

Bernadette Byrne has it going on with Sip Mendocino. For a reasonable $ 5, you get to taste 6 wines out of 18 offerings & they’re all quality wines hand selected by her. Most are from tiny wineries that have no tasting room & limited distribution. The retail prices are very reasonable. The shop is spacious and has wine in racks for perusing, plus a small refrigerated case, and a small area with gifts. A friend says the more gift items a tasting room has, the crappier the wine. Based on this, the wines here are verry good to excellent. While certainly not scientifically proven, I’m in agreement with her on this. There is also a very nice outdoor patio that would be perfect on a warm day.

This place is just fun. You could spend an early afternoon here getting lunch or shopping for gourmet nibbles, you could sit out on the back patio and soak up some rays while you soak in the vino, or you can come here early evening to sample wines, mingle with the locals and wander around looking at the local artwork. The hostess was sweet even though we arrived pretty close to closing time, but she didn’t rush us. You get quite a bit of sips while you’re there, so it’s worth the stop. The choice to come here was also impressed upon us by our more than gracious host over at Graziano. I’m glad we did.

Still a great place to sample Mendocino’s finest(or at least the latest) right off 101. We stopped here after Grazie about a half hour before they closed on our second day here. Always worth a stop.

Woman owned business that has style & panache. They carry only Mendocino county wines, probably all of them. Almost all the gifts in the shop are hand made by Mendocino county artists. We visited on a quiet Tuesday. We got the red carpet treatment. The $ 5 wine tasting is supposed to be just 6 small sips. We got about 15 sips. The lively conversation with the hostess was impetus to open bottles that were not on the list-of-the-day. If you just want to stick to Hwy 101 to try many local wines so you don’t have to drive all those twisty small back roads, this is THE place to visit. Join the wine club and participate in future field trips that include catered food, limousine-transport. winery tours, and instant new friends. A great way to spend the day for $ 50! Sip is a FUN business to visit… Go!

While tasting at Graziano, it was recommended at we walk down the block to Sip. Basically, it is a wine shop with a tasting bar that has a selection of wine from wineries in the Mendocino area. There was a five dollar tasting fee, but they had wide range of wines to try which was nice as several were from places that are not open to the public. Also, they were very helpful in recommending places to taste. The wines might not be the cheapest from the region, but to be fair they were good and several of them were worth the price.
