This is the best inland diving site I’ve found so far. They have an area that would count as confined open water, with a narrow outlet into a great open water site with depths up to the recreational limit. Unlike some deep quarries, this one actually has some attractions that give the deep divers something more to do than wonder why they dove down in the first place. The confined open water has a long gentle beach entry. Next to the shelter /tables, there is a giant stride entry over the deep water(rock wall). The fish can be a bit aggressive at the wall entry it was something interesting to watch during surface intervals. There’s changing rooms and a snack stand(they might have had hotdogs too, I don’t remember) right by the shelters as well. I hear there’s a shuttle service if you don’t feel like hiking your tanks to the fill station, but that wasn’t running when I was there. The shops kinda small, but they were high tech. You get an ID card with a barcode, so there is much less paperwork after the initial visit, and they accept credit cards, so it’s more convenient than cash only dive sites. There was plenty of parking, even though it was crowded, and none of it was very far from the shelters. The interstate was maybe 5 minutes away from the entrance, so this place is incredibly convenient, and I heard they can even get pizza delivered to the water’s edge. There is also camping, but hotels are like 10 — 15 minutes away in Hopkinsville, KY. Visibility is great… until open water students silt up the shallow side. Thanks to the layout, this really doesn’t much affect the deeper side, but most of the attractions are on the shallow side.
