No guest parking management towing people at random from parking lot. Hallways smell like smoke and vomit. Thin walls so sound travels in building. Do not rent here!

Mice, apartment searches with no notice to tenant, and disappearing items from apartment. Tenants moving out 2 – 3 at a time every month.

We’ve lived in Second Street Station apartments for about 2 years now. The property is in an extremely convenient location, situated just east/west of hwy 169/hwy 100 and south/north interstate 394/hwy 62, making it really easy to get where you need to be. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby and downtown Hopkins is about a mile away. Getting to MPLS takes about 12 mins. We enjoy living in this community as well. It’s on a quiet street and SO close to the walking/biking trail! The apartment size is decent as well with plenty of storage, updated appliances including dishwasher and microwave which are a plus! The grounds and buildings are well maintained and there is a nice courtyard with pretty flowers to sit and enjoy time outside. Jessi in the office, and the maintenance team, Sam and Curt are always reliable! Over-all we’ve been extremely happy with choosing to live here!

Waited 6 months after I moved out to write this review so I didn’t over-do it. Bad customer service — even after all the complaints about parking, etc. They do NOTHING to help you. Total of 4 tows from myself and friends during the 10 months I lived there. Bad office hours — office is open sometimes between 9 – 4:30. SOMETIMES. Bad paint job — the previous tenant had painted a grey color in a few rooms and I had them paint it back to white for my move in(the standard color, so free paint service). Horrible paint job, they painted the dust and long hairs into the wall. So the wall was bumpy and you could see strands of hairs throughout. The hallway smells, and the air fresheners they have placed every 20 feet smell bad too. Twice they went into my apartment without asking permission or telling me. I knew because there were dirty footprints and other things out of place. Overall bad place — would not stay there again or recommend it.

Lived here for 2 years and was very excited to move out. Pros: Can’t beat the price, good location, stainless steel fridge and oven. Cons: Paper thin walls — sometimes I think that someone was knocking on my door and it would be two doors down, the hallways stinks like whatever anyone makes, our apartment was so not cleaned before we moved in, parking is HORRIBLE — my boyfriend was towed 3 times in 2 years and there were times that I had to park on the way other side of my building but management had allowed someone to live in an RV in the very front spot, don’t let the«AC» wall unit fool you it does not cool the entire apartment, and my last complaint was it was very hard to to have packages delivered there — there were multiple times where I tried to pick a package up when getting home at 4 pm and the office was just closed. Overall you get what you pay for. If you can’t afford anywhere else you can make this place work but if you are decided between 2nd St and somewhere else, go somewhere else.

Other reviewers got it right when they said the parking situation is horrible. We were already towed after only living here 2 months! Be prepared to get towed at one point or another and have to eat the fee. We had requested a visitor parking pass and had hung it in the window, but because the management wrote the right MAKE but the wrong MODEL down, the towing company took the car right out of the lot with the visitor pass displayed right in the window. When we went downstairs and were shocked to see our car had been towed, guest parking pass and all, we called the emergency line and were told not to call them(after having to try to reach someone four times) unless it was an emergency and that they would not be able to help us. After getting pretty upset, the maintenance person called the asset manager who basically told us we were out of luck and that we would have to pay for it because they did not WANT to. The on-site residential manager could never be bothered to speak to us directly, and instead talked through the maintenance guy to the overall asset manager. $ 150 is a LOT of money for an individual resident, and not a lot of money for a giant property company like Soderberg who owns Second Street, but they did not help us and were not willing to rectify their parking error. We had been willing to overlook the dirty condition the apartment was in when we moved in, the awkward guest parking situation, the incredibly inconvenient office hours(be prepared to take off work to get there in time to speak to someone), the poorly done paint job(they just paint over everything, and leave paint splatter on windows and light fixtures), and the nonexistent sound proofing. This parking situation was what really drove me to write this review. What is really shocking, is that after a second meeting in which we were told they would work with us, after hours wasted of our time(both of us had to take work off to meet with the landlord and asset Manager), the asset manager met with us to tell us even though they had fired the towing company and even though he agreed that the parking situation had been unacceptable and that we were right to be upset that we had been towed by their contracted towing company, that he is refusing to help us or reimburse us or offer a rent credit. This is, mind you, two days before Christmas. Nice guy. My advice is to NOT sign a lease here. You won’t enjoy your stay. There are plenty of other options that have responsible and competent management and better renovations. Stay away from Second Street Station(and for that manner other Sodeberg properties)!

Was not happy with my stay here for a number of reasons. Parking — This isn’t Downtown, nor Uptown, but HOPKINS. There are empty spots all over yet you need to sign out a pass in order to receive guest parking. When the office lady leaves, you need to have your plans for the night locked in. That has been as late as 6 pm, but typically 4ish and numerous days when she isn’t in. Good luck. Structure — plan on hearing everything above you and to both shared walls. You will wake up when your neighbor above you does. Smell — when you walk into the main hallway and there are air fresheners that isn’t a good sign. They try to mask the smell, yet whatever it is overtakes the halls. Luckily it stayed out of my unit. Community — Very ‘closed door’ community. I realize most apartments are like this but this was extreme. Not very friendly exchanges in the hallway. Price wise it’s pretty decent for a remodeled 1BR apartment. I looked elsewhere and got out of there.

This apartment is good overall. I notice some noise complaints, but I haven’t had any problem with noise, maybe I have quiet neighbors? I’m also on the 2nd floor. Nice appliances, no dishwasher, laundry in building which is nice. Hard floors. Cats are allowed and don’t have to be declawed, which is awesome. The major downside is that their policy packet doesn’t contain everything. Apparently you’re supposed to let the office know whenever you are going to be gone for more than 24 hours, not mentioned in packet, so we of course didn’t know this and our car was towed due to us being gone for a week! I mentioned this to her and she said she’d look through the packet, but never called me, hmmmm, must not be in there? Yet they refused to reimburse us. Also they could have called to let us know, we basically came back, noticed car was missing and had a mini panic attack. Called the towing company just to check and they had our car, thankfully, for all we knew, it could have been stolen! So basically I’m giving it a good review because it is a nice place and I don’t mind living here, BUT they definitely need to redo their policy packet.
