First time here. My husband thought the bourbon steak was delicious albeit a tad overdone. My walleye came without the lemon pepper and was quite dried out. The waitress was impatient, forgot to bring our salad until our meal was just about over and didn’t bring a refill for my husband ‘s beer until she brought our check. Will give it a second chance as my hubby enjoyed his stake and will order it very, very rare

Great service, cheap eats, and nice margaritas. Melissa is a great server who made the whole experience pleasurable.

Truly great happy hour(2 for 1s) and great service. The Tex Mex is pretty good but the appetizers could use some work. Overall, highly recommended.

We sat outside on the patio. Service was bad. Waited a long time for drinks, even longer to order after that. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, I know being a server isn’t easy, but it just kept getting worse. Had to ask for a box from 3 times before I got one. Table next to us ended up just going inside to pay after waiting for the check for so long without it coming. My friend’s fajita was so bad she couldn’t eat it. The rest of our party enjoyed our food though and the fried pickles were really good. But we won’t ever return.

Happy hour on the outdoor patio. Their setup has the four bar servers covering the patio in rotation. There was not a specific server for our table but not ten minutes went by that a server wouldn’t sweep the area and check on us. Each one knew what we were drinking and was very pleasant and attentive. A HUGE improvement from scenarios where one waits and waits to catch a glimpse of ones individual wait person. Also, dedicated smoking area removed from the rest of the deck. Combine this with what is unquestionably the best smoked meat in the Twin Cities and you can’t lose!

Service is horrible! Then you try and inform the manager regarding the experience and the manager is rude and defends the bad service. Gosh what happened to nice folks?

No more, thanks! Been going here for 20+ years, since it was called Ted Williams(I worked there). It’s gotten so bad over the past few years — poor management, awful service, hit or miss food… and if you kindly point out a mistake in your order, servers AND managers seem to be irritated and bothered by you. I keep hoping they’ll get their act together, but I’m done waiting! Unpleasant server recently couldn’t bother to even say hello when she 1st came to our table, then she messed up our order 3 times and when I mentioned it to the manager, she was irritated and equally unpleasant. Shockingly bad attitudes considering it’s the service industry! The server never came back voluntarily — we had to keep asking another server for our check. Food is iffy, bathrooms always smell horrible. Not sure how they stay in business, except that it’s a local place.

Not very good. I give two stars because the servers are nice. In spite of the mediocre reviews we came because beef ribs are on the menu… According to the menu on their web site. When we got here the server said they don’t have it any more. Here’s your sign. She recommended the pork ribs so I got them. My son got the chic tacos — free on Sunday’s. Well even though it’s not busy and it is normal dinner time, the server comes back later to say that ribs are sold out. Here’s another sign. Why didn’t she know that before I ordered? Chicken soup was good but a bit on the salty side. My sons tacos were chicken a little cheese and a soft taco shell. Not a single thing else. Don’t tacos usually have lettuce slaw or some other veggies? Mine arrived later. Slices of pork in a not so good BBQ sauce. And a baked potato. Someone in the kitchen must really hate vegetables because there isn’t a veg to be seen anywhere. I ate about half of my meal. And had no desire to take leftovers home. Not that she asked… I see no reason to return. There’s a reason it’s not very busy. Oh and the bathroom is filthy. I wanted to share my thoughts with someone there but nobody ever asked how our meal was.

Ok, food and drinks are good. However, service was a bummer. Asked for things more than once, still never got it so just gave up. Server was a ridiculous over sharer wouldn’t leave us alone w his looooong drawn out personal stories. When we finally got our tab, our server told us he gave our tab to another table(who paid it) and then told us we needed to pay theirs which was slightly more than our actual tab. When we said we wanted to each pay separately he argued that we should split it. There’s so many ways he should have handled things and didn’t. I’ll go back for the food and hope we have a different server.

Excellent chili! They have a nice hot chili, er… Red Bola or something like that. very good. The tacos were weak, but for the price, you can’t expect much. Their sammies were good, large portions. They have decent chicken wings too. Seems to be a lot of locals /regulars there. The bar is on the small side, and I found the booths uncomfortable. Good happy hour prices, good neighborhood type place. Worth a shot.

Was driving by with a friend and decided to stop. I do love Unilocal for looking up places in areas that I don’t know that well and this place was okay. Food could use more seasoning and herbs to really pop, but it was satisfactory. I found the atmosphere to be a bit too loud.

Good food, knowledgeable staff, good happy hour. Always an entertaining place to go. The spur wings are amazing! Moppo wings are great too.

Great value. Great margaritas. Wings are best I’ve found in the area. It’s really hard to beat compared to some of the other similar options in the Western burbs. The bar is always busy. If I worked around there it’d be an automatic happy hour stop. I think they’ve been doing it awhile so they’ve got everything pretty dialed in. Huge menu too!

Don’t be put off by the suburban strip mall environs. Lone Spur is awesome and has been awesome for years. Great smoked chicken. Great brisket. Fantastic spicy chili(the bola red).

We have been dining at Lone Spur for 20+ years(back when it was the Lone Star) and after today’s bad experience, this love affair is over. We have been excusing the slow decline for months and the food quality, sloppy presentation and bad service can no longer be overlooked. Like a fading beauty queen, this place has seen its glory days and is on the downside with posters that are sun faded, a layer of dust on the antlers worn out carpet and staff that do not seem to care. Is it food costs that made them decide to sub dry chopped pork with a squeeze of BBQ sauce for the once amazing pulled pork sandwich on the sloppy Texan, or did they run out? Better to 86 it for the night rather than this poor substitution. Several weeks later for another try and it is worse than the previous time. The once amazing queso dip has been reduced to something we are sure started life in a can. The Bola red is off… Maybe left over from Saturday or Friday? The beef in the fajitas is no longer quality beef(guessing a Sysco medium grade), sliced so uniformly that I’m guessing they are no longer preparing it in house. The line of gristle was so unappealing I discretely spit a lot of it out… And what is with that weird textured chicken? It seemed almost spongy! Also, no more BBQ sauce on the tables. It is upon request only and comes straight from the refrigerator so it immediately cools any food you put it on, like the onion loaf that was served room temp, as opposed to hot. Service… Have the quality servers left? Someone new every time and since we were the only ones in our section, we were forgotten by our server and had to go searching for her through the nearly deserted dining room. The upside is I am sure this food will not make me sick, but I don’t think that qualifies Lone Spur to receive our patronage any longer.

Tried to go tonight but left before getting seated. Walked in the door and there were three parties waiting to be seated and a man picking up his«to go» order. The host said it would be a five to ten minute wait even though there were at least 8 empty tables. The wait staff seemed flustered as they whisked by. Bottom line is that they seemed«off» and we didn’t want to risk the wait. Used to love this place but now it seems each time we go, things go a little downhill each time. Probably won’t be going back unless they do some updating and cleaning.

This Tex Mex restaurant is located in a strip mall in Hopkins. They have the best chicken wings! The chicken wings are HUGE! Leg & wing connected and seasoned in their famous Moppo seasoning. The wings are cooked to perfection. Extra juicy filled with tons of flavor. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Everytime I’m here I pair my meal up with a margarita on the rocks. The margarita is made right each time. Not too sour and not too strong but just right. This was my first time trying something se on the menu besides the Moppo wings. I gave the chimichanga with spicy beef a try. It came with Mexican style rice & a choice of black or refried beans. I went with the refried beans. This place us only getting 3 stars from me because of the wings. The chimichanga wasn’t my favorite. It tasted bland and very basic. Their homemade hot sauce had a weird after taste to it. I don’t know what it was but this meal didn’t taste good. I would recommend this place for their Moppo chicken wings! They have a full bar & happy hour on drinks. & appetizers as well.

Just left this place and we will NEVER return. Just moved into the area and thought we’d try a local place. That was a mistake. We sat on the patio and did not receive any service for 20 minutes. The service was terrible and not friendly whatsoever. There were about 3 new tables on the patio and no one was being helped. One table got up and left another moved inside and the third table got their own menus. The food was disgusting and sloppy. Least to say this place needs a miracle if they ever stand a chance of staying in business. Don’t even waste your time to come here. Wish I would have made dinner at home !!!

Really? It’s 10pm and you’ve already turned the chairs upside down on the tables to start cleaning while patrons are still seated at nearby booths dining? And the only place to sit now is the small bar area with no open tables except the one the waitress seems visibly annoyed to be cleaning or outside where it’s a bit too cool for comfort unless you’re seated by the fireplace, but other people are already there? I checked in on Unilocal, but left before I could even review a glass of water. Help me to understand why you don’t like customers?

Tex-Mex is Tex-Mex for the most part, but the Lone Spur seems to do a pretty good job trying to make it a little more interesting. Location is great, parking is free and plentiful and they have a pretty sweet outdoor patio during the summer months. The bar is separate from dining, but you can still get food at the bar. Choose your priority when choosing to dine-in or sit int he bar. If you sit in the bar you typically get faster service — and the drinks flow faster. They know their customer and cater differently to the bar vs. dining experience. You must get the guacamole, it isn’t really any better than guac at other places, but they give you colored chips, which I love — and lets me honest, its guac, a requirement when eating Tex-Mex. They have an extensive menu and the portions are quite large, very easy to share a meal. I seem to always go back to the same two items, taco burrito and seafood enchiladas(can’t remember what they are actually called on the menu). Service can be slow sometimes, depending on the time you go, but they are always very nice and keep your glass filled. They also don’t get mad if you take forever to make a decision since the menu is quite vast. Happy hour is pretty great. I used to come here and sit in the bar far too frequently(I lived just behind them). Half priced apps and drink specials daily. They have a nice selection of margaritas, too.
