Update: Feeling better about Driskill’s. The Mngr Deb responded rather fast to my venting. It is nice to have your legitimate complaints acknowledged and at least checked on. I can’t be the only one occasionally frustrated. I appreciated this customer care. I do love really Driskill’s mew remodel and display shelves. Looks great. *************** Original Review: Rotten Avocados: 3 out of 4. No recipe tonight. Expensive and frustrating. Not the first time. Also: Why drop my bananas on canned goods while rush bagging them for me? Why bag them together in the first place? Why do they get mad when I hold on to them myself? I’d like the fruit I pick out to pay for to still be firm and edible by the time I get home. Love the new remodel tho.

Love the remodel! The whole feel of the store is much better and the flow makes more sense. Sometimes the lines are long but they usually call for more help.

This store has really come a long way! It used to have harsh lights and few choices. It is now cute and charming with great produce and many more selections. Definitely a Kowalski’s-type look. There is even a place to have lunch. Great renovation in a great real town!!!

Totally incompetent cashier. Used debit card and asked for 20.00 back. She gave me 5.00. When I told her it was suppose to be 20.00 she said she gave me two 5.00 and a 10.00. I emptied all my pockets to prove she did not and she called me a liar. Store manager said the book keeper would have to review it the next day. Complete and utter BS.

I needed to make a quick run for a few items after an evening out for dinner and a movie in Hopkins and was planning to stop at the SuperTarget at Knollwood on my way home when I remembered that there used to be a supermarket just a block or two off Main St., but I wasn’t sure that it was even still in business what with all of the new stores that have sprung up in the area, such as Aldi’s, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and SuperTarget and the renovations of Lunds & Byerlys locations. Well, Driskill’s Downtown Market is alive and well! The store has come a long way from 30+ years ago when it was Driskill’s Supervalu and later, Driskill’s New Market. From what I’ve read, the store very recently completed a substantial makeover and remodeling project which really transformed the former space from a run of the mill Supervalu affiliated store into an independent and more upscale store. Inside, browsing the departments and aisles, there is a definite Kowalski’s type look and feel to the interior and the items in the various departments. I was very impressed with what I saw on my rather brief trip, but it was enough to get me to come back again for a much more complete grocery shopping trip. The clerk at the checkout(Scott) was very friendly and polite, bagged up my order and wished me a good night! Anyone would be damn lucky for an employee of some of the Cub Foods locations in the area to even acknowledge a customer’s presence with a mere grunt.

Great meat department with friendly butchers. They smoke their own meats and fish in house. The deli deserves mention as well. They always have something interesting in the hot case beyond the usual fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I tried the mushroom risotto and the curried carrots for lunch the other day. And both were delicious. From what I understand, they make their food from scratch instead of heating up frozen stuff. Prices are very reasonable. .I think it was only seven bucks or so for the lunch deal. I will be stopping back to try more of their food for sure!

I really enjoyed my first experience here. It reminded me a lot of a locally owned chain in Arizona(where I grew up). Exceptionally clean and organised. I could smell the bakery as soon as I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to find a little café inside as well. Huge selection of in-house bakery and butcher items, and the two doughnuts I tried were delicious and fresh despite it being after noon. I also got a loaf of bread I’m excited to try. The prices seemed normal for Minnesota so I’m not sure what the few reviews stating overpricing are about — the prices are about the same as Lund’s, but with quite a few more deals, including a few things even cheaper than I usually pay at Target. They also carried a few items I have a hard time finding at the smaller Target stores I mostly shop at. The check-out clerk and cart attendant that was collecting carts as I walked out were also both very friendly. This is definitely a good go-to grocery store, and the fact that it’s a locally-owned small business really encourages me to shop here more often.

Always a good grocery with a neighborhood flavor. Very reasonable selection and pricing. VERY good meat department with real, cordial butchers who will go to great lengths to make sure you are pleased. BONUS – an in-house smoke-house. House made and smoked bacon, fish, sausage and more. Old time flavor and attention to quality and details! Nice people too. A great establishment to frequent and get to know.

Driskill’s in downtown Hopkins reminds me of small town grocery stores. Carry out boys, mature, helpful adults working in each department and a decent(not great) selection of all the staples.

This place seems to be pretty decent for groceries. They appear to have everything that you would need to prepare a good meal. When there was a long line, the employees opened up additional lanes for us. Also, when we finished shopping, this guy who was stuck in the 80’s, took our groceries to our car.

The absolute most incompetent and rude staff of all time. Shopping here is consistently miserable. I’d rather starve.

This grocery store was very convenient when I used to live in Hopkins, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop here. The service has gotten worse as time progresses. They make up for this with the fact that the store is practically immaculate. They also offer great ready-to-serve side dishes and meals in the deli section. The bakery goods aren’t too bad either, but you will be paying a bit more than at other grocery stores. A couple years ago they used to serve Carmel Apple Salad for Halloween. It was amazing, but I think they stopped making it.
