Excellent buffet of southern food with a large variety. I’m not a big buffet eater but this place is great.

I have been very disappointed in the quality of food in the past year our so. I wish they would open another Fred’s Fish. The recipes they used there are a bit different and the food was great.

Fred Chason’s buffet was surprisingly good and satisfying. Let me first start off by saying that I’m not a fan of buffets and I haven’t been to one in over 10 years before stopping at Fred Chason’s. I wanted something that was quick, but more of a conventional meal than the usual highway options like Subway, Bojangles, etc. Here’s my assessment of FC’s… The Pros: — Large selection of meats, sides, and desserts — All dishes were hot and fresh — Really good, prompt service — Conveniently located directly off of Highway 95 — Reasonably priced @ $ 10 pp for dinner The Cons: — It’s a buffet(LOL) — Older décor In terms of the actual food, I tried the fish(they served 4 different types) and chicken(fried and baked)… both were tasty. I tried every type of bean and green vegetable they had… all were really good. I didn’t care for and would avoid any starch based food… potatoes, yams, Mac and cheese, rice, etc.

So on a nice little journey up I95, I was looking for some good southern food. The restaurant is conveniently located, décor is wood picnic type booths. I tried to keep it simple since I am not too big on buffets. I had catfish, flounder, meatloaf and some baked chicken– all of which were very tasty. All of the vegetables– beans, collards, etc were cooked well and had wonderful flavor. I was not impressed with the sweet potato jacks or Mac n cheese(which is normally my gauge on if I will like your southern cooking) Overall a good meal for a great price of 10pp. I didn’t realize it before I left, but they also have a military discount!

Traveling down the I95 corridor, we didn’t want to spend a lot of time doing a sit down, but were tired of the standard quick service fare. I wasn’t expecting a lot, but was pleasantly surprised! Was passing through on a Friday night around 5 with no wait but they were set up to manage crowds well. Variety on the buffet was very wide! Southern favorites such as chopped pork BBQ, ribs, fried chicken as well as deviled/stuffed crab, fried catfish, hush puppies and slaw. Not just a wide variety but all very tasty! Really shouldn’t have, but found a little room for a sliver of pecan pie and banana pudding like mom used to make for dessert. Great value for $ 10 a person! You won’t leave hungry and you won’t be disappointed!

Outside looks deceiving, but sat down quick, service was great, emptied our plates and server took our plates quick, so much food loved it all but couldn’t get with the sweet greens and cornbread toast, great prices, plan a nap afterwards.

Excellent buffet, one of the best I have ever eaten at and I have been to many buffets, much, much better than Golden Coral. The only complaint that I have is it would have much better if each item was labeled. Service was very good and very friendly !!!

Great little place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They kept our drinks topped off the whole time. I am going to slip into a food coma from eating too much at the buffet. BF got 3 plates of different meats and loveddddd it!

I won’t usually go to a buffet but I’m a big fan of this place! Roughly 50 choices of homemade southern cooking, desserts and a salad bar! Some of my favs: meatloaf, candied yams, Mac and cheese, ribs, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cobblers, better than sex cake and banana pudding! Sweet tea is also on point. Discount for military, I think it’s only 10 bucks! Mm mmmm mmm! You may slap your mom it’s so good! Enjoy y’all

Coming here is a two day process: 1 day to not eat anything and 1 day to eat enough food to feed an army!(Jk). The price is about $ 10 per person for an all-you-can-eat buffet of everything from BBQ chicken to pulled pork to seafood to banana pudding and other desserts. The food is homestyle and flavorful. The pulled pork is my personal favorite. It looks like it’s nothing special but don’t let that fool you — it has been marinated and it is very flavorful and doesn’t need anything additional, although there is Carolina BBQ sauce on the table. The staff also demonstrates southern hospitality and it makes the experience just that much better. I have been going here for years and will definitely continue to go.

Reasonably good food at a reasonably good price. Hey its a buffet, and it delivers! If you like Southern cooking at buffet rates and quality, then this is a five star stop! They provide a very welcomeing down home country feel. Dispite having a very loyal local fan base, Grandsons just wasn’t that special. It was rather disappointing given the hype. I don’t much like buffets, greasy barbecue, or menus made up of 90% fried highly saturated fat. That’s why I give it 2 stars. Bottom line the quality and variety isn’t there, unless you just want to suck down saturated fat in large portions. I am particular about my barbecue and there really wasn’t anything there that would bring me back. I could cook better food at my house.

I had heard some good reviews about this place so even with misgivings about a buffet, we decided to check it out. First off, when we walked in, there was a moldy old smell that made my stomach turn. In the seating area, it seemed like they had a flooding problem or something since they had black tarp, garbage bag plastic type material all along the ceiling and some foam type sealant. The food was nothing that I would care to go back or even eat. The desserts where even sliced on styrofoam plates. Southern food, comfort food, I don’t think it was to be mushy over cooked and tasteless. It’s a step down from Golden Corral, and that’s not a good thing.

I gave them 2 stars because all the servers were so sweet and attentive. Also, for the yam patty. Yes, they have a lot of food. More than I expected. But, quantity over quality isn’t the best way to run a business in my opinion. There wasn’t anything impressive about the building or food. The food was either bland or sweet in an odd way. The mac and cheese had an excessive amount of black pepper in it. The booth seating was just hard wood nailed together. The place overall didn’t seem especially clean. The air conditioning consisted of a dirty standing fan and then a window unit A/C unit that in no way could keep such a large building cool. The lighting seemed dim and just added to the overall feeling that the place is falling apart. I’m not sure what the fuss is about and would not return.
