I am always happy to eat here! The staff and chefs are amazing and very welcoming to our family. They are always understanding about the special order we make for ourselves because of allergy issues and our son(bang bang chicken, no sauce) because he is a picky eater. Suggestions: Try the las vegas roll, the yummy roll, and a share plate still serves enough to have leftovers.

Great first time experience at STIX. I chose the ginger salad and hurricane roll. SO delicious. Will definitely be back.

First visit to Stix and I was disappointed. I was pretty busy, but tables were turned quickly. Most of the service was good and efficient, however, our server was not very friendly. Perhaps she was having a bad day. However, she was prompt and efficient. The Chef put on a nice show, but the rice wasn’t cooked well or seasoned well. I chose the steak instead of my usual filet and it was a horrible cut. The shrimp was over cooked and tuff. The chicken was done well enough. He was pleasant and I enjoyed his presentation. We had Bang Bang Chicken and Wanton appetizers which were really good. The soup and salad were average. Hopefully, we just picked a bad night to visit.

We visited for my birthday and were very satisfied with not only the amazing performance put on by our chef but by the quality of the food as well. Very good experience. We went on a Tuesday night and had reservations for 6pm, but didn’t really need them. The place filled up as the evening wore on, though. Pretty pricey, I paid $ 200 for my party of 7, but worth it.

I went recently with a friend celebrating a birthday and we decided to sit at tables and order from the hibachi side. The portion was a lot smaller & I did miss the option of getting extra sauce. In my honest opinion, I would sit at the hibachi grills than sit at the tables.

Awesome sushi and the banana roll for desert was off the hook! Oh yeah, I can’t forget to mention my server Alexis. She was phenomenal. Was seated fast waited on faster and the food was brought even quicker. Alexis is working a few tables as I’m writing this and she doesn’t let anyone go without. I will definitely be back. Nice job everyone!

I was quite happy with my experience at Stix. My husband and I went in for dinner one evening. We were seated immediately on the«Asian» side and our waitress came to the table and took our drink/appetizer order quickly. She was attentive without being overbearing. No complaints with the service. It was happy hour, so we decided to try the chicken lettuce wraps and the bang bang chicken. Both were very tasty. I ordered the chicken lo mein and my husband ordered the honey shrimp. We both enjoyed our entrees. The taste of the food reminded me a lot of PF Chang’s. So it’s nice to know that I have an alternative that doesn’t require going into the Summit. The cost was typical of a higher end Asian restaurant. I’ll definitely go back when I need my Chinese fix!

We had an awesome team lunch here today. The service was great and the hibachi was phenomenal as usual! My coworkers had sushi that looked very good. I enjoyed the hibachi chicken. It was a lo of food for a lunch portion. I know what I’ll be having for dinner tonight.

Service was good! No wait, filet was cooked well though not cut like I’m used to seeing at stix. Rice didn’t seem all that fresh. Almost dried out. Not the usual quality I expect when spending that kind of money to eat out. Vegetables were not very mixed mostly onions. Overall ok experience

I have been to a lot of Japanese Steakhouses and was overly impressed with Stix. The food was fresh & delicious. They had three sections Habachi, booths & sushi bar. The customer service was excellent. I found the portion sizes were extremely generous for the price. It was very stylish the restaurant was unlike many dated Japanese Steakhouses.

Great Asian option in Hoover Stix is kind of in 3 parts. The middle when you walk in is a sushi bar. To your left is a sit down restaurant and to the right is a hibachi grill area. Atmosphere– Clean, tastefully decorated. Sometimes a bit drafty from AC vents. Staff– Friendly and knowledgeable Food– The Asian food is great and consistent. Bang bang chicken appetizer is a must. The sushi is wonderful tasty and very very well presented. Little things like making a red dragon roll look like a dragon. I have heard the hibachi is excellent but I have not tried it. If it is like the rest I am sure it’s good.

One of the weirdest dining experiences in my life. Tonight. December 29th, 2015. We were a party of nine and had a 6:30pm reservation on the non-hibachi side of the restaurant. Our server was a woman in her mid fifties maybe? She was so curt, rude, etc, that our ordering process was TERRIFYING. I was scared of her. She had an air of superiority about her that basically said«you are beneath me, you should feel glad I’m even lowering myself to be your server.» You’d think we walked into that restaurant wearing cut off t shirts and dirty flip flops and not dressed cute(we all looked adorable. We aren’t animals). We had a group of nine and we asked if we could split the check. She said fine. EDIT: We asked to split the check before anyone ordered, AND we sat directly across from the person we were paired with — it was very easy to split up, and we were clear that if she could not split the check, we were happy to manage it otherwise. A good number of us have worked in food service at some point in our lives and we strive to be good customers. She walked to the front of the table and was very much no nonsense. She dictated the exact way we were to order. She stood at the head of the table and refused to move around and speak to us, and forced us to yell down the table at her and tell her our order. My brother politely asked if she didn’t mind coming down to his end of the table so he could ask her a couple of questions but she yelled at him that she would NOT do that. So he had to yell down the table. She was bizarre, so so so rude, then went away. No checking on us. We had to request water refills. Thankfully there was a very kind busboy who helped us out. We slipped him some cash on the side as a thank you. He was fantastic. The food was phenomenal. It was delicious!!! So that’s the sad part. Like — this could have been such an awesome dinner! But we were so scared and off out by her that it really cramped the whole thing. Of course they added gratuity(I expect that with a big group) and it was 18%. I never just leave it at 18, as I prefer to tip 20−25%(servers have to make a living and I firmly believe that tipping is necessary, even with mediocre service). But I sure as heck did not add any extra tonight. Sadly she still made a killing since I’m pretty sure our collective total exceeded $ 500. Anyhow, makes for a good story. If you can handle feeling like you’re in that Seinfeld episode with the crazy mean soup guy, then head on over. Give it a shot. The food is great.

Great food and staff. Would definitely come again for group gatherings! The caterpillar, red dragon and tiger crunch sushi were very tasty. I liked the Singapore noodles and would add that to my regular order menu. This place is definitely worth a try among the regular selection within the mall area. Come at any time!

Worst service ever. Actually somewhat scary how rude some of the wait staff are. Gave it a few try’s, but no more. Too many other great Japanese choices in Birmingham to waste time on this one.

This popular Christmas song summarizes my experience: Last Christmas, I gave you my order The very next day, you finally came my way This year, to save me from tears, I’ll order from someone else I have at times received better service at the DMV. Don’t get me wrong. There were certainly some nice personalities working, but the overall service was remarkably slow and uncoordinated, causing lunch to take double the time it should have. The quality of the sushi was acceptable, but a few of the rolls fell apart easily, or were already falling apart as the plate was being served.

Had been a while since we dropped by here, as we are not in Hoover all that often. I haven’t eaten at the hibachi side at this location, so can’t vouch for that. I do like some of their sushi, but have never been too impressed with the entrees. This time, we had one of their«specialty» dishes, which was lightly breaded and fried chicken in a chili sauce. I can say that it was just OK… definitely nothing to write home about. The cocktails that we tried were quite tasty, and reasonably priced. I know the Fultondale location has a really good happy hour, with some half priced appetizers and drink specials, but not sure if this location does or not. All in all just an OK place.

Normally receive decent service. Tonight, the service was terrible. Our group took up two tables and had two waitress devoted to us and they were terrible. Spoke to a manager and he simply said he was sorry. I won’t be back.

Great bang for your buck! They have happy hour Monday — Friday 4:40 — 6:30. There is a lot variety on the happy hour menu and rolls starting at $ 2. Great meal for too with plenty of food for right at $ 20. Not to mention the sushi is really good!
