I had the shrimp and grits and they were great. My side was fried green tomatoes. I really liked the crunchy outside and hot soft tomato onside. I tried my G/F’s Swamp thang greens and they were spicy and good. Desert was bread pudding mmm. If you can save room for it you will not be disappointed! Probably should have given them a 5 rating based on taste but atmosphere needs a tweek. Service was fast and friendly.

The food is really good here, but most times I come the service is lacking. For example, I’ve been sitting here at my table with an empty tea glass for almost ten minutes. With spicy Cajun food, that is not acceptable. The shrimp po-boy and shrimp creole are my recommended dishes here. The owner also needs to rethink some of the menu structure. My shrimp creole lunch entrée did not include any bread or hush puppies as a side – and I was not going to order them extra as a side item. The whole shrimp po-boy at $ 9.99 should include fries AND slaw – not a choice between the two. A reasonably priced side salad would also be appreciated. Dinner prices are a bit steep for the rather sparse atmosphere(beads decorating the table didn’t cost that much!) The quality of the food would merit four stars, but the other shortcomings I mentioned bring this place down a notch.

Randomly went here with my boyfriend for dinner one Friday night after driving by it multiple times. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the cheesy decorations and almost empty dining room, but I was happily surprised. The hush puppies alone were worth going back for– very flavorful. I got the shrimp poboy and it was decent. Really, I was more interested in the shrimp and grits my boyfriend got. I will definitely be getting that next time. Overall, I think we both enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

My husband and I were eager to try this new place, so we went there about 7:30 on a Friday night. The atmosphere was odd — there appear to be two rooms. We only saw the first, but everyone was sitting quietly at a table. Some had take-out boxes in front of them and appeared to be waiting on a check, others had no food at all. The restaurant was almost full but the only sound was someone in the kitchen calling the orders. No one was eating. A few waitresses seemed to be busy; no one every came to the«Please wait to be seated» sign to greet us, much less take us to a table. Not even an attempt to catch our eye for a «be there soon» look — nothing. We waited five minutes, then we left. Oh well. Plenty of options in the area, no need for this.

This is a little hidden gem in Hoover. Great food. My wife ordered the fish and grits and I had to ttake a bite and almost finished it for her. I got the eafood sampler and it was perfect. We did have to try the bread pudding and it did not disappoint. Great food and laid back atmosphere., took our 7 month old and no problems. Can not wait to back and try something else.

I ordered the fried shrimp. The shrimp were undercooked. Gross! I won’t be back.
