This place is so good that I make a point to stop by whenever I’m driving through the area. I’d still rate the burger here as one of the best I’ve ever had, nothing fancy, just a great burger that is so big I can’t finish it at a reasonable price. The other food items are great too, including the buttermilk pie, which I had never heard of until visiting this area and now I crave it like crack.

It would have been nice to know the hours of operation changed from what is posted. Came here in search of breakfast and the joint was closed up as apparently is the town of Hooks.

Bottom Line Up Front: Extremely good food in portions I’ve never seen before –BIG.
This diner is the project of owner and manager Myra — as funny and down to earth as they come. The menu is country food — chicken fried steak, hamburger steaks, burgers, turnip greens, etc. Everything on the menu is great, and you always have the option to order a half-​order because they give you so much food!
Great veggies, desserts are awesome and you can always order breakfast (I love their omelets!)
Prices are very reasonable.
Come hungry and laid back and enjoy.

Eaten here a couple times in the last two weeks. Just gets better. They serve their sweet potato fries with powdered sugar? Must be a Texas thing. Dale is right, if you leave here hungry its your fault.
